Sept. 2026: Came down the stairs one day and heard a huge whooshing sound, and I just knew my…read morebasement must have inches of water in it! Ran downstairs: nothing! Went outside...a pipe to the sprinkler system had busted because of settling or something over the past 26 years. (Go figure!) Called up A 3 in 1 Irrigation Specialists, and Nathaniel and John came out (on time, right when they said they would), and fixed the broken pipe in short order! I showed him another broken sprinkler head, and he made quick work of that too. Oh, and I needed a new bell thing, and he got me all fixed up on that also. A few weeks later I asked them to come back for 2 reasons: 1: When Rod Martin's Complete Basement Systems installed the sump pump in my subfloor, it shoots water out of a pvc tube up to ground level, then goes underground for about 20 feet before dumping out a vent thing in the yard. But the pvc was the lamest, thinnest kind possible, and going over the buried pipe with the riding lawn mower caused it to crush the pvc pipe down flat (underground, under the grass, but I could see little shards of white plastic here and there.) So Nathaniel and John laid down a new, stronger pipe for me. The 2nd reason they came is because I've been noticing that when it rains, the water does not go down the downspout and into the pvc pipe and away from the house, it just stays there overflowing right up against the foundation of my house. I had a plumber tell me about a year ago that the roots from the fir tree above the pipe had busted through the pipe, and there was nothing he could do without removing the fir tree! All's I wanted him to do was to roto root the pipe, but apparently it was too full of roots to do it, or maybe he figured it also had cracks and holes in it. So I let that go until I decided to let them remove the fir tree, because I thought it had to be removed to lay new pipe. Well, I had Nathaniel take a look, he and John dug to find the end of the pipe, and guess what? It wasn't the fir tree's roots, it was the big maple tree in my front yard! And the pvc was entirely intact! When they built my house, they ran the pvc from the downspout, to under the sidewalk, it went about 18 inches further, and then it just stopped! There was no cap on the end or anything, just good old hard Colorado clay soil. So as the tree grew, its roots found that if it went inside the pvc pipe, it would have lots of water, so that's what it's been doing for the past 20 years. Mix that with the leaves and dust that have come DOWN the downspout and into the pipe, and you have a nice big rope of small and large roots, mixed with lots of mud. So Nathaniel and John added some pipe to bring it further into the yard (additional watering for a very dry spot in my yard!), and put a pop-up drainage thing at the end, so that whenever it rains, the water comes down the downspout, through the pvc, and the pop-up thing lifts up an inch and lets the water out into my yard. The rocks around it help absorb the heavy impact of the water, until the grass grows nice and strong again, then it will fill in around the rock. And NOW those pesky tree roots won't have a way to clog the pipe again! Just look at what 20+ years of roots in a pvc pipe looks like! Like a 15 foot snake! Anyway, Nathaniel and John are my Go To guys now, they went above and beyond at every turn. Once they located all my irrigation boxes (there are 5), and by located, I mean they were covered with bark and dirt across 2 sides of the house, I mentioned that I would get some flags so that we can find them easier next time. Guess what? They quickly grabbed their flags and flagged them for me! And there was a lot of leftover dirt piled up after the new pipe was laid, and Nathaniel asked me where I would like for them to remove the dirt to. I said "Oh, I think I have an idea of where I want to put it (hidden behind one of my bushes), don't worry about it, just leave it and I will take care of it." But they would not leave a job a mess, and they moved all the dirt and mud for me, and of course replaced the sod they had to remove to lay the pipe. So like many others here on Yelp, I had a fantastic experience with both Nathaniel and John. Weeks ago, we got it running by having our trustworthy regular sprinkler man replace the controller and troubleshoot a few sprinkler heads. To our surprise, it worked. That is, until we received several notifications from Aurora Water that we were using tremendous amounts of water. We got our regular guy back to the house, but he couldn't find any apparent leaks. He also couldn't find the second (backyard) valve box. It's a pretty big backyard. So, I started to trace the front yard valve box wire to the second valve box by digging it up. It quickly became apparent, it was the equivalent of finding the Titanic unless I wanted to spend days, perhaps weeks, searching for the elusive valve box. I contacted our regular guy again, who many of you know and appreciate, and he referred me to Irrigation Genies. They specialize in sprinkler systems of all types. They also specialize in complex sprinkler issues including locating lost valve boxes and leak detection. I emailed the company and Chris Cortez, the owner, sent back a message with a few possible underlying scenarios...and the various costs to fix them. I shared as much pertinent information that I could and scheduled an appointment date, yesterday, 7/25. Chris showed up on time and got right to work. It took about 45 minutes or so to locate the buried valve box with an electronic device. He noted each of the 3 backyard valves were ancient and 1 was broken, leaking. Chris spent about 6 hours in tremendously hot conditions, and replaced all 3 valves so we wouldn't revisit that problem any time soon. Chris was methodical, professional and friendly. Considering the amount of work he completed and the complexity of the problem, he absolutely nailed it. I cannot praise him enough. He worked in a stepwise manner, located the mysteriously hidden valve box, fixed the problem - and more - and did it with an A+ attitude. If you don't already have a sprinkler company, I highly recommend Irrigation Genies and Chris Cortez. Otherwise, if you have a complicated sprinkler problem, call him today. I am incredibly thankful and impressed by Chris, the work he performed, his manner, attitude and professionalism. I think you will be too!

They turned on the water and made some small adjustments to the heads and noted that several of the pop-up heads were not rising and lowering smoothly. He informed us that we would have to oil the heads. In addition, they noted we have 7 zones and the 6th zone was not working. However, they could not locate the 6th zone and, therefore, we do not know where the 6th zone is and if that would impact our underground sprinkler system. I was disappointed in their service for the following reasons: 1. We have a Rainbird system and Mile-Hi specialized in Rainbird (according to their website) yet, they told us we would have to oil the heads. We are not sprinkler and irrigation specialists and would think that as part of their turn-on service they would ensure all heads were calibrated and properly functioning. 2. The fact that they could not identify Zone 6 makes me wonder if the technicians that were sent out have been properly trained to work on Rainbird or any sprinkler/irrigation system. It seems now that we have to find another Sprinkler/Irrigation company to finish the job.

Wish I had taken him up on it. He proceeded to make me walk through the sprinklers with him for 2 hours doing simple maintenance I could have done, the whole point was I didn't want to spend 2 hours doing it, and when he did find an issue in a leaking solenoid his recommendation was to not fix it, which after evaluating how bad it was I realize is because he didn't want to fix it even though it was leaking ~50 gallons a day. $200 to turn some heads and insult me for my valid concerns, awful.

My sprinkler backflow preventer was leaking so I hired Dan to replace it. His price was reasonable…read moreand his response time to questions was great. I was also having an issue with the drip line in my sprinkler system. He was able to find the problem quickly and fixed it at a good price. The issues we had are related to the copper pipe work. I would not recommend him for those types of jobs. On his first trip to our house, he left such a downward angle in the piping that I wouldn't be able to drain all of the water out in the fall. He agreed to come out and correct the issue. On his second visit, he redid the pipe work but somehow made everything worse. There was still a downward slope on the inlet pipe to the backflow preventer (see picture), and the outflow pipe was now crooked. I ended up paying another company to come out and correct his mistakes. I would recommend Dan for poly pipe problems. I would NOT recommend him for any copper pipe work. I don't think that's his area of expertise.
