The Banana Dulce de Leche was a pleasant surprise, with a good banana flavor that was unfortunately overpowered by the caramel. I also found the Dulce de Leche to be a bit icy, which didn't blend well. The Espresso was okay, but had only a light, aromatic coffee flavor. I thought it wasn't strong enough in my opinion. Overall, it's a nice spot for dessert after lunch or dinner, and the large seating area is a plus.

Apparently, they also had an orange long stringy confection that she wanted for later indulgence. All very cool, but she isn't diabetic. The ambiance of Egger's is definitely mid-twentieth century, and could use a fresh coat of paint to brighten the joint up a bit. Maybe better lighting, too. Otherwise, growing up in the City (Washington Heights) in the same era, this malt shop/candy emporium with long counter and spinners brought fond memories of my childhood flooding back. I said as much at one point at the ferry terminal, 'cause they have some sort of substandard ice cream you can buy at the ferry (sorry ferry ice cream stand). This place was like a majestic beacon the minute you get off the great kills stop. When we in, NO ONE WAS INSIDE. I was going to get something more classic, like a waffle cone or some such, but my instincts asked if she could make a milkshake in any of the flavors available. Could she? Oh, she could. I had a cookies and cream milkshake. It was fantastic. I did suck it down way too fast, and essentially had a dairy hangover for the next 6 hours, but this was aided by not eating anything all day. The lady talked to us for a bit, too. They had games for kids inside. Some sort of rewards program I could not properly sign up for. There's a big ceramic ice cream thing in the window. Good place to bring kids to, I would say. IP.S. Joe G. and I were talking down 2nd Ave later the next week, and I saw a stand outside a pizza place for the SAME EXACT ICE CREAM. I'm like I JUST went to this place on Staten Island. Then the guy behind the counter yelled, "Hey! That's where I'm from!" I'm glad I waited to write this so I could tell you that part.
