This place is very colorful, well lit, and the staff were friendly enough to give us plenty of samples before choosing the right flavor. I kept it simple and got I believe their hazelnut in a cup. No extras or anything but they have cones with chocolate and nuts and you can even get a cup like that as well. I definitely didn't expect to have to decide on whether or not I wanted my gelato cup to be covered with any sort of special toppings. I was then asked to pay for whatever size gelato it was that I was going to order. During the time that I was paying, that was when my little one was allowed to sample any flavors that they wanted. But also, that is when the employee asked me if I wanted any crushed up toppings on the bottom of my cup of gelato. I think one of the toppings was like crushed up cookies. I'm not entirely sure. I just felt so rushed and confused. I decided not to get any toppings on the inside of my cup. What if I got something that totally did not go with that? I didn't want to be stuck with it. But, like I said, a lot of this transaction just felt very backwards to me. They have some awesome flavors and from what I understand, they will rotate periodically. Outside there's a lot of nice sitting area available. Unfortunately, when I was there, all of the seating area that was available was in the direct sunlight. I politely asked one of the workers if they could add a little more, and instead of simply helping, she went to get the manager. When the manager came out, the first thing she told me was, "If you want more, it's an extra charge. We measure the toppings." I calmly explained that I wasn't trying to get extra for free -- I was just surprised because the amount they gave didn't even look like a normal serving. I also mentioned that I usually go to other locations, and they're always consistent with how they prepare their mangonadas. What made the situation worse was the attitude. While I was waiting for my churros, the manager came back with a tiny cup with a few extra pieces and said, "This is a one-time thing." That comment honestly made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome over such a simple request. I wasn't rude, and I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I just expected the same quality and customer service I've received from other LA Michoacana locations. After this experience, I'd rather continue driving to the San Fernando location or other locations where customers are treated kindly and the food actually matches what's being advertised.
