There's nothing like a sweet treat after the movies. I believe this place took over from where Sprinkles used to be so I wanted to give it a try and see if it was worth it. This place is very colorful, well lit, and the staff were friendly enough to give us plenty of samples before choosing the right flavor. Because of this, the line tends to move a little bit slower but if it's right after a movie, you and whoever will have some time for a debrief for sure. I kept it simple and got I believe their hazelnut in a cup. No extras or anything but they have cones with chocolate and nuts and you can even get a cup like that as well. I don't think you can really go wrong with gelato so I would say it was good and definitely beat my sweet tooth. I think this place is a tad pricey for what you're getting but it is in the Americana so I think it's to be expected. I'd say give this a try if you wanna beat the heat and get some gelato while walking around or catching up with friends and family. read more

There were a couple of things that were very backwards to me about the way that this gelato portion of the store is. For starters, be aware that this gelato is pricey. The baby size looks like it's just a little bit more than eight dollars. The regular size is nine dollars and the larger is 10. The baby size was actually perfect for my little one. It was borderline too much for her. The flavors are amazing. The vanilla bean is classic and fantastic. The tiramisu was very good, not a super strong coffee flavor. The strawberry Matcha is the one my little kiddo decided to get. She loved it. It wasn't too much of either flavor. They have a really cool window where there are hanging ice cream ornaments. That makes for a cute picture. Another thing that is rather impressive. Is their wall of individually wrapped chocolates. They come in all different colored wrappers. It just still happens that there was a portion of the wall where there were green columns of individually wrapped chocolate pieces, as well as a pink column. Being that my little one ordered a Matcha and strawberry gelato, those two colors were swirl and it made for a perfect picture. So, this was my first visit there. I didn't know what to expect. I definitely didn't expect to have to decide on whether or not I wanted my gelato cup to be covered with any sort of special toppings. And that I would have to pay for it before I really decided on what I wanted. So, this was kind of how my visit went. We got in line. I was then asked to pay for whatever size gelato it was that I was going to order. Personally, I had not decided yet if I wanted to purchase gelato for myself or if it would just be before my little one. So, I just paid for the one. During the time that I was paying, that was when my little one was allowed to sample any flavors that they wanted. But also, that is when the employee asked me if I wanted any crushed up toppings on the bottom of my cup of gelato. I think one of the toppings was like crushed up cookies. I'm not entirely sure. I just felt so rushed and confused. I decided not to get any toppings on the inside of my cup. What if I got something that totally did not go with that? I didn't want to be stuck with it. But, like I said, a lot of this transaction just felt very backwards to me. They have some awesome flavors and from what I understand, they will rotate periodically. Outside there's a lot of nice sitting area available. Unfortunately, when I was there, all of the seating area that was available was in the direct sunlight. I kind of felt like the whole process rubbed me the wrong way because I felt a bit irritated when I left. The gentleman who helped me with the actual gelato order was very friendly. He encouraged us to try different gelato flavors. I'm glad we did. My little one was so thrilled with her selection. I will admit, had I not been forced to pay for the gelato order first before ordering anything, I think I probably would have ordered something for myself. Initially, I had told my little one that we might share one order. But I also told her that it was a good possibility that we'd be sharing two of the baby size scoops because mommy might get something for herself. Things did not happen that way. There's just something about the consistency and flavor of the gelato that resonated with me. Could just tell that the product was quality. Staff were really friendly here. Lots of seating in front of the store with umbrellas for a hot day. Right across from the fountain so able to enjoy a fountain "show" while eating. There was a bit of a line but Alyssa took our order while we waited, so it nicely sped up the process. They allowed us to have samples before picking a flavor, which is very kind because companies don't have to do that. I went to Venchi yesterday for some gelato and have to give big props to the staff! There was a person in line who spent literally 10 minutes sampling items and asking for other freebies while the line grew, and grew, and grew. The person helping the customer was so patient and kind, even with his requests of asking for free items. He didn't rush the customer at all. The other staff member noticed the line growing and stepped in to help start taking orders to speed up the line a bit. The staff even noticed someone trying to cut me in line and made sure to take my order first. I was just so impressed with the two staff on duty yesterday afternoon! We first had Venchi when we visited NYC a few years ago and it was amazing! So, we were so excited to see an LA location at the Americana. The selections on display at this location felt a bit more limited than the wall of chocolate we saw at NYC Manhattan. Either way, it's still a fun experience with a nice enough selection to choose from. They also sell gelato and the servings are generous. I always get their chocolate with either strawberry or raspberry. We've been here 2-3 times since they opened and the staff is always so friendly, kind, and welcoming. Like the Manhattan location there's a lot of outside patio seating which is really nice. You can sit outside, enjoy the gelato, and chat for a bit with your friends and family. I'm not the biggest fan of chocolate in general but Venchi is really good quality chocolate and a delicious treat to indulge in once in a while. Quite literally the worst affogato I have ever had. I was disappointed when I saw them put a pod in what looked like a Keurig to make my espresso. If it was something like a Nespresso, I would understand, but it quite literally tasted like coffee from Keurig. I had higher expectations since the presentation showed it being served in a glass. To my surprise, it was only served in a paper coffee cup. I didn't end up adding the espresso to my coffee since it tasted so bad and watered down. They sell a lot of chocolates in addition to their ice cream though. For the flavors they have the classics as well as some fun options. I got the stracciatella and baciodidama (you get tot combine two flavors with a regular serving). The baciodidama contained some biscuit for some extra texture. Delicious! Wasn't even craving ice cream but the store looks so cute I had to check it out to see if it also tastes good and if the customer service was good. Spoiler: it was I ended up paying a little over $11 for a premium baby cone which consisted of a waffle cone with nougat and chocolate coating and a single scoop (I got pistachio) It was amazingggg! I was really impressed with not only the variety including vegan friendly pralines and chocolates but the organization fo the Venchi-tiers (what I'm branding the workers here). They take orders while you wait in line as well as classically at the register. Scoops can be in a cup or cone of your choice and they have a few options you can choose from in style and/or size. I got a small cup, one scoop of the Raspberry plant-based, but did consider strawberry, mango as well as their azteco, a extra-dark intense chocolate and vegan-friendly party in your mouth. Yes, they do let you sample and even have sample spoons - they do their best to keep the line flowing and do ask for what you want first (size, cones, etc.), flavors after. The decor is very vibrant, it's like a refined section of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory with a dash of Americana. It's a good process, but it takes a while for the two staff members inside to prepare each order received. However, if you forgot to order something, then you can make the purchase when you're at the counter as well. We got one regular cone with Raspberry & Stracciatella ($8.25), and one waffle cone with Hazelnut & Pistachio ($10.00). Their prices are high, but kind of what you expect for treats at the Americana. Oh my gosh! I'm so glad we have this spot now in LA. I first tried this actually in New York City and it was so good. I love the flavors. They have my favorite is the dark chocolate and the raspberry gelato. I definitely recommend getting the cone covered with chocolate and hazelnuts. It is the perfect touch. They give you huge scoops too, so that is a plus because the price is not super cheap. There's a lot of little outdoor tables to enjoy your ice cream. I've been looking forward to trying this spot for a while now. It's such a cute location. The staff are super sweet and help with people traffic well. However, I find their line set up is a bit confusing. It would be better to swap the entrance and exit doors to allow customers to browse their chocolates and truffles, then see the menu, try flavors, and check out all purchases at the end before exiting on the right side.
