I was also excited to hear that they added tofu to their vegan ramen. The first time I came here, my noodles were undercooked and the dish as a whole was very mid. But I've met other people who like this place, so I wanted to come back. However, it was just as mid as before. The noodles were better cooked this time, but the broth was extremely plain and nothing special, the vegetables just tasted like oil and charcoal, and the tofu was nothing special either. Chicken ramen has some kick to it but the flavor is good and won't rip off your taste buds. The pork ramen wins in a taste test between the two only because I love those noodles. My boyfriend and I came to Yoko's after visiting the Hogle Zoo. It was our first time there and we ended up parking in the back since the front was full. The location is set in this fabulous little (from what we can tell) old apartment building. You have to climb up some narrow steps and wander through the "living room" before heading to the back to order, just follow the signs. The server was super kind and helped us pick our order and delivered it to us at our table. We got the Pork Ramen and Chicken Ramen with Kimchi. The pork belly had great flavor and the texture was so soft and tender. I wish there had more of it. While the katsu chicken was delightfully crunchy and was abundant. Something that I loved about the ramen was the seared veg, it really added another level of complexity to the dish then pairing it with the sour and tart of the kimchi was excellent! Personal experience: So, I've been here before back in 2018 with a friend and forgot how amazing the food is here. I absolutely love the decoration here but it is really small so the amount of space is limited. They do have weird hours so make sure you come during those hours of operation. Food: The ramen itself was SO good. The broth was well made and the fried chicken was something different but worth the experience. Service: Okay. The service that day was really poor. The employee had this huge attitude and honestly just didn't fit with the vibe. The food was amazing! I thought I had tasted good ramen at some other places, but this was so flavorful. The chicken and daily veggies really made everything come together really well. The restaurant was clean, and the outdoor seating was really nice. The woman that served us was polite as well. It was a cold, blustery fall afternoon. We were famished and in need of a warm meal. Yoko Ramen was there to save the day! Their mild-mannered and understated exterior, that blends in with its surroundings, is only a disguise for the powerful flavors inside. The young man who took our order was helpful, intelligent and courteous. He made suggestions for our order and served it with a smile (not all that common in this crazy world). The unique vegetarian gyoza came out faster than a speeding bullet and was scrumptious, the dipping sauce divine. Cooked perfectly, we devoured it before taking a photo. The steaming vegetarian ramen entered the scene shortly afterward and filled us with comfort and calm. All was right in the world, with a bowl full of vegetables, noodles, egg, and broth. We slurped to our heart's content and then went on our way back into the struggle, strengthened by the super-powers of Yoko Ramen. P.S. As we were leaving we saw Coach Frank Layton on the sidewalk, heading to The Other Place, next door. The ramen and sandwich were both filling and tasty - without us knowing, the Cubano had wasabi on it (which my husband typically dislikes), but he said the flavor wasn't bad with all the other ingredients in the sandwich. The local sake was delicious, but came as a single serving in a glass, which I wasn't anticipating. The food came quickly after we ordered. The seating area is a little crammed/loud if more than a few tables are occupied, but the large windows are great for people watching. The waitresses were a bit less friendly than I would have hoped - they shared an obvious pointed look after we ordered and I couldn't tell if it was because we ordered weirdly, or they wanted to go home or they didn't like how we were dressed or what... they also did not check on us the entire meal. The staff here are super efficient and they all have such a cool vibe, just like the restaurant! This is literally the BEST winter restaurant. I've been here multiple times and I'm never upset about it. I've had a lot of things on the menu--the pork ramen, the chicken ramen, chicken sandwich, french fries, and pickled mushrooms. I've also had a couple specials--burnt end udon and the korean bqq chicken. Honestly my favorite dish of all has been the udon, I think it should be a full time menu option! Had no idea they had a sticker on the door that says "People hate us on Yelp" LOL. Don't know how I missed that and saw it from a Yelper's post. Anyway the staff were very friendly and fun to talk with while ordering. I think if they would hire someone to do their broth's it would make all of the difference in the world. The proteins are all seasoned very well and didn't lack flavor, the noodles were quite decent, the broth is where they sink like the titanic. The made to order gyoza's are prepared the same was as Samurai in Sandy, which is just about identical to Tokyo Japan. The pickle plate changes regularly and the fried chicken in the ramen was quite nice, in fact next time I go will order a chicken sandwich. I will return but it will not be for the ramen. read more

This place is good and worth checking out. I love the front room. The dark ambiance and red lanterns makes it feel like your in Japan. The staff are friendly and the cashier helped us decide what ramen to get. You pay at the counter & then they bring out the ramen. Our friends ordered the gyoza and pickled veggies, both were great. The gyoza tasted homemade and there was a good variety of pickled veggies. The pork in the ramen was nice and crispy and smoky on the outside and tender on the inside. The broth wasn't too salty either, but wasn't creamy. I prefer a creamy broth, so next time I will order the veggie one! read more

Visiting from a city with very good ramen, and can't recommend this place, especially for larger groups or with kids. The seating system is something out of college hangout (no reservations but also no clear understanding on the wait time with nowhere to really wait), which led to just getting takeout. Somehow that was also messed up with multiple missed orders. Food was also simply not good. The city just needs more ramen noodle places so places like this will be pushed to get better! read more
