Yokohama has missed. Food has become very bland in the past couple of years. Have been visiting this restaurant for over 30 years, but in the past couple of years food has taken a huge down turn. Last visit this summer. The soup of the day was given back, chicken fried rice was taste less and clumpy , kushies (our past favorite) dry and chewie. Our waitress never smiled once. Not sure if ownership has changed but this restaurant is off our list. read more

Admittedly we did not stop to eat a full meal. We wanted to have a drink so stopped here hoping to get a good scorpion bowl. Service was great and the crab Rangoon we got was pretty good but the scorpion bowls were awful. I don't think they had any alcohol in them and really just tasted like a ton of sour mix with orange juice. Wouldn't suggest going there for a drink. read more

Love this place, food is great and for the record, the owner Taz was from Japan, she cooked everything from scratch and her daughter Lynn has continued the tradition, drinks are great, service is ALWAYS good, never had a bad meal and always have leftovers to take home and enjoy! read more

I honesty don't know why anyone eats here. Worst food ever! Rice was mush green beans from a can! Some kind of chicken nugget on a stick! For those who don't know there are asians, they are in the kitchen. This placed used to be fantastic but has gotten a bit tired. They close every May and November and upon opening prices are automatically higher and portion size smaller. I don't mind price increased but the portions have gotten very small and in a dish called shrimp kew there used ot be 10 large shrimp and for 18.00 you would expect there to be. Now the shrimp and quartered and I am guessing there are less than 5 shrimp in the dish. They have great seafood but then again. They quarter the scallops to make it look like you are getting a larger portion. BTW there are no trashy people there. They have a huge following read more

I echo the other reviewers that the menu is less than focused and that not one Asian person was anywhere to be found. I had a tempora special that had shrimp, chicken, onion, and green pepper for $15. My friend had ribs and rice for $13. The food was ok, it just lacked flavor. I recommend the duck sauce--it made all the difference. The rice, on the other hand, had lots of flavor, even if it was salt. I think they put almost a whole bottle of soy sauce in a cup of rice. It was overpriced for what it was and we probably won't be going back. If you don't really like Asian food, give Yokohama a shot! read more

What a great restaurant this is! The green pepper tempura was the best I've ever had. The roast pork strips were moist, tender and lean. The Kushi Katu were also delicious (strips of chicken breast meat, green pepper and onion, all alternating on a skewer, coated with panko and deep fried). The egg foo yong was wonderful. Cooked perfectly, and served on a platter with a delicate, almost translucent brown sauce with just a few peas as a garnish. So different from thick bland brown sauces served in other restaurants. The suki yaki was just incredible. Thin strips of lean beef, long strips of sweet onions, chunks of green pepper, fresh tofu squares, bamboo shoots cut in combs, and resilient shiritaki all cooked in that wonderful sauce. And the sweet and sour shrimp was to die for. It wasn't your usual sweet and sour - no sicky sweet red sauce here. It's a mix of fresh vegetables in a golden sauce with five jumbo tempura prawns placed atop it. Oh, what I would give to have the recipe for that delicious sauce. I've never had anything like it, and believe me, I've sampled the sweet and sour shrimp in many, many restaurants. This was truly the best I've ever had. The other reviewers mentioned that there wasn't an Asian person in sight. I don't know if she is still involved in the day to day operations, but I had the honor of meeting the owner and founder of the Yokohama, Mrs. Tazuru Eastman, on one of my visits there several years back. Mrs Eastman immigrated here from Japan many years ago, and the recipes used in the restaurant are the ones she brought with her from there. When the restaurant was still small, she did all the cooking; and as it grew, she still spent the great majority of her time in the kitchen making sure everything was still done just right. - and I'd certainly say she more than achieved her goal. read more

I was very underwhelmed when I visited here. My friends and I had just climbed Mt. Washington and we wanted to reward ourselves with some good food. While the food wasn't toxic or anything, we were far from impressed. We may just have high expectations for oriental food in general, but Yokohama didn't live up to our standards. read more

Booked reservations for 16 people a week in advance. We were seated right away. It took 1.5 hours for appetizers and 2 hours for meal to come. Never were told it was going to take that long for food. Staff was not very nice and we had to pay full price. Not a good experience. Will not return any time soon. Very disappointed. In the 70s and 80s this place was so good!!! read more

Worst food we ever had. Cook has no idea of what they are cooking. Spent 10 years in Japan, never heard of a Kushi? Would not recommend eating here. Much better food at Dynasty or Wangs. Just because you see cars there doesn't mean the food is good. Probably one timers like us. Also not one Asian person seen on the staff. read more

This once decent restaurant has taken a serious nose dive over the last several years. We used to eat here once or twice a week in years gone by. Now we go maybe once a month, if that, and end up leaving feeling let down almost every time. The food quality is now sub par, portions have shrunk, and the prices have sky rocketed. The only thing still worth going there for is the Mai Tai cocktails. The new owner (child of the founders) just doesn't have the passion for the business that her parents did. My wife and I have been going to the Yokohama since the 1960s. The food had always been good. But it has declined in the last several years. I hate to admit but I am a little boring when it comes to my choice of food. We always ordered their Mai Tais which were the best I ever had. And we always ordered the same meal - Shrimp Kew and Shrimp Fried rice. But they have been putting less and less shrimp in both over the last 10 years. We were there last night (12/4/16) for my wife's birthday. There was even LESS shrimp in both. The spices in the Shrimp Kew were different - not nearly as tasty. The buffalo spicy wings recipe had changed for the worse. And the recipe for the egg rolls - formerly the best I ever had - was totally different and very poorly prepared. I have to tell you, I will never go back. What a shame after all these years. Since the original owner and founder died, it has totally gone to ****. I forgot to mention - the Mai Tai I ordered was weaker and with an excessive amount of ice... read more
