Love Yokozuna! All of the rolls I've had are good. If you're not big on actual raw fish and such then try the Golden Driller. It is really good and actually has seared beef. They have happy hour from 3-6 on weekdays, even Friday, and it is great. A lot of good rolls are half off! read more

Best sushi place in Tulsa hands down and that is about 50% because of the sushi. They've got a variety of delicious rolls and menu options at decent prices (God Bless happy hour) and there are always fantastic drink specials. What gets me about this place the most though is the passion of the people working here. They seem to look at sushi and drinks like an art and man are they good at it. It's got such a flexible environment too. It's perfect if you want to go a date or just chill with some friends. AND THEY DO TAKEOUT!? If that doesn't sell it I don't know what will. Waited 33 minutes for food. I went got a rice dish, Raman, and some sushi rolls. Rice came out salty and they seemed to only put sauce into my rice instead of frying it properly. Sushi was really great and Raman was bland and they forgot the chili. The service was great but I would not recommend this place. I stopped in at the bar. Told the bartender, easy on the ice. He proceeded to fill my glass with ice to the rim. Uh, is that easy ice? So he poured it into a different glass and gave me a hard time about it. I wanted to order a salad, tried to get his attention but he was busy serenading his female coworker by singing behind the bar. I waited another couple minutes, he had given me a menu so surely he would check if I was ready to order. Nope, I spoke up, I also ordered another drink which took a ridiculously long time to get-especially for sitting AT the bar. The last time I met a friend for dinner there. We ordered drinks. They took about 10-15 minutes to get to us. Then we each ordered dinner, plus 1 item as a starter (edamame). Waited another 15 minutes and a waiter brought my friends order to our booth in a bag to go, so they took it back to put it on a plate. (so much handling of the food seems really gross) When my order came it was supposed to be a salmon salad, but it came with chicken instead, had to send it back. Plus, our edamame never came out so We asked about it and was told they had forgot about it. We arrived at 8, finally had our food at 9:30 and every step of the process was a mistake. Our experience was helped by the fact that the server was at least friendly and polite. Think I will take my business elsewhere. That bartender was the most irritating person ever, arrogant, and a jerk. At least the waitress we had when I met my friend at your restaurant was friendly and polite. A couple friends and I came here because they had wanted to try it out. We all ordered a round of wine as we mulled over the extensive menu. We decided to order a couple rolls and share them as a table. We ordered the Geisha's Demise, Blue Dome, Yokozuma Pops and the Route 66 roll. Unfortunately they were out of lo bak, which is a type of Chinese radish, so we switched the Yokozuma Pops for the El Guapo Roll upon our waitress's suggestion. This turned out to be my favorite roll. I have had pretty of rolls with avocado but never any topped with guacamole. The crab filled roll was also topped with a crispy tortilla chip to scoop up the side of shrimp ceviche. We weren't really sure how to eat this roll, but it was delicious! My second favorite was the Geisha's Demise, but a word of warning it's spicy! The other rolls were good too but were slightly overshadowed by the two standout rolls. My only problem with Yokozuna was the huge price discrepancy between some of the rolls. Some were a good deal for $6-$8, but the $14-$15 felt a bit overpriced for sushi in Oklahoma. read more

HORRIBLE/RUDE SERVICE! I've eaten at Yokozuna about 4 times over the course of a two week business stay in Tulsa. It's one of the few options near work with ideal food choices. The pros: decent menu, happy hour specials, nice size sashimi, and cute ambiance. Cons: Horrible service, and many rude staff members. My first experience at the restaurant was good, so I decided it was a great spot to hit. Unfortunately my next few experiences went downhill and my most recent experience will be my final at this establishment. I waited 30 minutes at the bar for a very basic to-go order, at a time where the restaurant was active, but not packed. When my order finally came out, only half of it was given to me. I had to ask where the rest was. I expressed my frustration to the server, in waiting for so long, and then only being given half my order. When he came back with the rest of my order (about 5 minutes later), he basically threw the bag on the bar and walked away. At that moment, probably the rudest service I've ever experienced ever. Anywhere. And that's saying a lot for someone who travels for a living. He even had the audacity, as I was exiting, to go and talk about me with one of his co-workers, in a very clear manor. In addition to all that, upon getting home, the sushi was on it's side and a big mess. Now the in between times I ate here, service was slow. A select few of the staff are on it and the rest are too busy chatting and goofing off, to pay attention to diners in need of things. For a small area with limited options, I'd be willing to forgive some of that, if the food was incredible. The food is good. No more, no less. But after my most recent experience I'm afraid the bad outweighs the good. The owners need to get together with their staff and fix a few things. Tofu Pad Thai was great, the sweet potato fries (and the sauces) are outstanding! Our vegetarian friend was pleased with the options she had - although I'm not vegetarian, I enjoyed the "Roasted Red". The drinks were okay - nothing to brag about, although the Hana sparkling sake is definitely a winner if you like sweet sake that goes down smooth like a wine cooler. We've come to Yokozuna several times and the service is not nearly as good as the food, which has been the case the previous times as well. It took over 30 minutes for the 1st entrée to come out (salad w/ chicken) and another 5 minutes+ after that for the 2nd entrée to come out (veggie roll). We were told by server that the veggie roll entrée was not even started on until after the salad entrée was delivered. I advised that the people behind us had come in several minutes after us, and had already received their rolls. We also had trouble redeeming a birthday appetizer coupon, so she had the Manager come over. While the Manager was courteous, she stated that there were steps to redeeming the coupon, such as entering your credit card, etc...I explained that we did not have time to do this, that our lunch had taken a long time to come out and that I had to be back at my work in under 10 minutes and we had just received the 2nd entrée, to which she replied that the chicken takes awhile to cook and the kitchen had gotten backed up. Yet the people that came in after us, got their food first...hmmm, doesn't make sense. I was 10 minutes late getting back to work from my lunch hour. The Manager could have easily comped the appetizer as my daughter showed her the birthday email offer, but she didn't. We left unhappy, but I should not be surprised because service seems to be the biggest complaint in reviews. read more

Went for lunch on a Thursday. Was sat at 12:25 and did not recieve the 2 rolls I ordered until 1:15 (a 50 minute wait). Staff was focused more on themselves and less on their guests. Manager walked around restaurant with a water pitcher the entire time to keep her hands occupied, but seemed to have no understanding on what was happening around her - she made no contact with diners, had no follow up with staff regarding the delay in food delivery - it seemed the restaurant was happening around her. By the time I received my order, there were only three tables seated in the restaurant. When I asked my server why there was such a long delay, I was told they were short handed by one server. I made the mistake of ordering another roll and it took an additional 15 minutes to arrive (though by this time servers were standing around talking, sushi chefs behind the sushi bar were going outside to smoke, and the hostess was the only one who seemed focused on the business). I ordered the New York Roll and the Tempura Shrimp Roll. Honestly, they had the same taste and texture as the pre-made rolls I get at the Reasors on 15th and Lewis. Rice was starchy and over handled, not light with a slightly sweet note. The shrimp in either roll had no flavor. My second attempt at ordering was the Pub Roll. No flavor of beef and the dipping sauce had no wasabi flavor, but instead looked and tasted like honey mustard. Do not waste your time dining here unless you happen to be in the neighborhood and you just need to kill time and are looking for some basic fare. I'm sure this establishment will be around a while since it has some big financial backing and it's the only "sushi" available in downtown, but I will not be darkening their doors again. I've been to the downtown location 3 times now, and I have not had even a semi-pleasurable experience. My most recent visit, the service was terrible. Our server wasn't just not friendly, but she was completely rude. I ordered ONE shot and ONE drink, and she said that they have some type of drink limit, which was a complete lie because we have been there for many occasions just to drink. The sushi was average, definitely over priced for such a simple roll that I ordered. I won't be going back after that service. I have heard good things about the new South Tulsa location though. read more
