Rebecca Spencer always makes me feel beautiful. She had been styling my hair for the last 25 years, and no matter where she is, I follow her. She is now at YOLO, a great salon that has two other stylists - Eileen, the owner, & Julie - who also appreciate appointments in advance. While I was there with my friend Melodie, who is also a client of Rebecca's, Eileen & Julie were busy, & they did great styling with their clients (4 women and a man). All looked fabulous! Eileen from SATURN salon is false advertising on Groupon. I waited 3 weeks for an appt, arrived yesterday and was told she did not know I had an appt, even though documented on my phone. She told me to get a refund from Groupon. She advertises under YOLO SALON which does not even exist any longer. Reporting to GROUPON, and the FTC and State of Florida. Disgusting how anyone would steal money from a disabled senior and false advertise like this on such platforms. read more

Scheduled the hair appointment before a big business trip where I needed to be photographed. Hired a babysitter so I could come to the appointment. When I got there she said I was overbooked and that her other client was more important. She was unapologetic. read more

It is scary that this hairdresser and owner of Yolo Salon, Eilleen Mathis, continues to feed this negative experience that I had in her salon. She continues to lash out at me! Upon further investigation apparently I am not the only one! She has numerous complaints including several on ripoffreports.com. It is common sense that a business owner mediate any complaints by offering positive and kind reply's back. Not Eileen Mathis, she is relentless as you can read in her responses to myself and others. What sane business owner would treat her clients with hostility, blame, insults and lies? She not only has negative reviews from customers but also, past employees. If she continues to harass me I will continue to provide feedback. I will not be bullied by a 60 year old woman! I was told by the business next door that she has personal problems that flow outside onto the sidewalk...clothes and other personal items were left in front of her business and the police were called! Who knows what else there is....Summary:Negative reviews from clients and former employees, personal issues and a bad reputation! Here is another complaint titled, YOLO SALON, EILEEN STRIKES AGAIN! I discovered Yolo shortly after they opened for business in early May. the owner, Eileen, is gracious and extremely professional. Her business is spotlessly clean and completely organized. I was in search of a highly-skilled Massage Therapist, so Eileen placed me with Jessica. She is very, very good. Her work has caused my chronic aches and pains to vanish. I will continue to see Jessica on a regular basis. Yolo is already getting quite busy. Of course, they have been taking walk-ins, but it is wise to make a reservation, Thanks Eileen and Jessica. Our first time for a manicure and pedicure, so we went to YOLO. Loved it!! India did the mani and pedi and was super sweet and gentle with us since it was our first time. We also had a one hour massage which was wonderful! Super relaxing and worked out the knots!!! Everyone there was funny and nice. I purchased a Groupon just before the pandemic hit and once salons were open I attempted contact for an appointment to no avail. I left messages and no one would call me back. As someone who specializes in customer service with a quarter million dollar education, I am sorry to say I am disappointed, what started as a pleasant visit started going south when the woman who did my nails was literally pissed she had to remove my gel, she actually started complaining not only to me but to the people around her about how long it was going to take and that she would not have time to my nails which I put off doing for a little over two weeks and bare in mind I paid in advance so I left with no manicure that was already paid for. If she had warned me she could not give a full manicure and a pedicure ahead of time if I had gel, I would of paid extra if it was not for her poor attitude about the whole situation, especially considering most people get gel these days. I have never had that kind of response at any spa or salon that I have ever been to. Not only did I drive nearly an hour here but I have plenty of friends who are awaiting to hear how my experience was, it's a pity really I expected better from what seemed like would of been a nice woman with a local business, this "problem" could have been easily avoided. I guess I'll add on since you want to justify my experience . 1) It took under two minutes to remove the two almost three week old gel that very easily comes off (I could of literally pick it off if I wanted to at that point) 2) I have never had a spa complain before EVER 3) You are right it was a was a special groupon DEAL to try out your salon, and you picked the price sweetie 4) There is not even a place to dry your nails 5) I said myself if you have an issue taking my acrylics off I will pop them off on my own 6) If you had not complained to the women next to you, not to mention the tone you complained to me in, in such a rude manor I would of paid extra like I said earlier 7) You offered me to pay an extra 15 to get my nails done so it sounds like you had a spot. read more

I bought a Groupon to try a new salon, and booked my appointment almost a week in advance. I arrived five minutes early, but had to wait 25 additional minutes for my appointment. There was one person in the salon (who was having her hair done) besides the owner, Eileen. I was called over while the other client was apparently waiting to have something else done. I brought in seven photos of other people's hair, as well as three photos of my own previous hair cut, which I loved. I specifically asked for a stacked bob, with a severe angled cut - long in the front and shorter in the back. I had four side view photos of this cut which clearly showed an edgy, sharp angle to the cut. I mentioned that I wanted a no-fuss cut that I could just scrunch up after a shower, and not have to do much prep time on; specially why I asked for a stacked cut. I reiterated that I liked my hair to look tousled/messy. Eileen said she understood exactly what I was asking for. While cutting my hair, she continued a conversation with the other client in the salon, which I found odd, especially her choice of conversation. She finished my hair and turned me around to look in the mirror. Considering how much I'd explained what I wanted, I expected a pretty close representation. What I got? A simple layered bob, which made me look like I was going to attend a PTA meeting, plus my hair had been curled with a curling iron for some odd reason. I was immediately shocked and immediately and courteously expressed my feelings that the cut was not what I expected. She tried to tell me that it was exactly what I had asked for with my photos. I pulled them up on my phone right away, and re-showed her the front-to-back severe angle I asked for, and the head shots of the back of the hair which showed a very stacked cut. She tried to tell me I got exactly what I asked for, even though I pointed out how the angle was missing. She kept telling me that my hair was layered, even as I explained (again) that it was not stacked in the back, nor was there any definable angle to the cut; it was a simple bob that had maybe a difference of an inch at most between the front and back. She told me to look at it in the mirror again and that she was going to work on the other client. First, this was incredibly unprofessional. Looking at myself in the mirror was not going to change the shape of the cut, or the missing volume from stacking in the back. Since I was left in the chair while she worked on the other client, I had no option but to do just that. When she finally came back, I showed her the photos again, and asked why there was no stacking in the back and why the cut wasn't angled? She again told me that she did exactly what I asked for and exactly what the photos looked like. She told me the photo I showed her of the back of the head on one photo wouldn't work on me because of the different texture of my hair. The photo in question was a photo of ME that last time I'd had the exact cut I was asking for and I told her this. She stammered that my hair was a different color then and that's why it looked different. It wasn't. I realized at this point that she either did not have experience with this type of cut, was distracted because of the conversation with the other client during my haircut, or just didn't care that that point. She offered to cut it shorter in the back, but I was frankly scared to let her touch my head again. She told me to ask Groupon for a refund, so it appears she's had this problem before. I left the salon in tears, but not before I tipped her anyway, even though she told me it was not necessary. I realized after I contacted Groupon and was credited, that I couldn't respond with feedback about my experience, which is why I am sure she was so quick to offer that as a solution. By the time I got home, not only had I received a cut that I specifically had not asked for, there were sections of my hair which were being swept back and held in place by hairspray, When I brushed my hair out, this produced an cut which looked like it had been done by a rookie. There were sections of air which hung noticeably lower than others and had to be recut by someone else, so I didn't look like I tried to cut my hair at home by myself. Those who saw my hair before it got fixed couldn't believe that a professional had let me walk out of her salon looking like that. To say I am incredibly disappointed would be an understatement. By the other people who have left negative feedback on her services, I guess I should expect I will get harassed by her now, too. I have blocked her phone number in anticipation of this happening. read more

Customer service was beyond fabulous all around. They got me in for a massage last minute (I was traveling) and even called a therapist in! Friendly and wonderful! Not to mention the massage was THE BEST and I am a massage therapist from out of state... So that is saying something!!! I would love to come back! read more

My experience at this salon was delightful!! Being new to the area I wasn't sure where to go! Yelp lead me to YOLO. Perfect match, thank you YELP! They were prompt, clean, very knowledgeable and most importantly passionate about what they do. My hair looks GREAT! Highlights, lowlights, and under color treatment was going so well that I had my son come in and get a quick cut. He too looks spectacular! Correct I wasn't the customer. My fiance was, and when she called me crying and to this day still complains about the job, or lack there of. Yes, she was in the car outside when I came in, my fiance said she didn't wanna deal with this woman anymore and told me to handle it. Then when called, she *handed* me the phone because she again didn't wanna hear any more lies spun by this woman. Doesn't matter, it's way over now. I had a couple of good experiences at Yolo, but honestly, the last color appointment I had there just really turned me away. I am not sure what happened but the color may have been left on my hair a bit too long and I actually had some hair breakage and stains on my skin that I had to work to get rid of. That took a day or two..nothing dramatic really...just I'd never experienced that before. Eileen is really fun and nice and I just chalk it up to everyone has a bad day from time to time. I needed a last minute hair color. I found Yolo with e help of Yelp. I was near the area, so I took a chance as a walk in. As it was a Monday, the salon was closed, but Eileen happened to be there doing some desk work. She very kindly agreed to color my hair for me.. It was above and beyond of her to accommodate me, as she had made plans for the afternoon. She did a great job with the color and trimmed my hair up a little. I am from NYC and I am visiting for the holidays. I wanted to get a brazilian wax done and found that there are only a handful of salons that do them around here (from the ones that are on yelp at least). I was going to go to this salon, because it was the cheapest I could find. Their website said $50. I called to make an appointment and was corrected that the brazilian wax costs $65. This is actually what I have been seeing at two other places I called. So I didn't make the appointment, mainly because their site was incorrect but also because how can I choose which salon is better from three choices that offer the same price? It was a coincidence that I went to "Nail Tips & Spa" on gulfport blvd near cvs to get a mani/pedi for $30 total. Their brazilian wax cost $30.
