Really good standard Halal Gyro platter. We ordered the Lamb Gyro plate, which has become a ubiquitous addition to the east coast food truck scene. The platter is a mess of crisp and savory and salty lamb gyro meat. It's that ground and compressed stuff that melts on one's tongue. Came here on a Wednesday for lunch. There was only 1 person in front of me. I was choosing between here Chick-Fil-A and Nalley Fresh. But the obvious 5 star Yelp review got me moving towards this direction. At first I was skeptical of a food stand in Baltimore City. But one bite into the food I could see why they received the 5 star rating! The taste was great, the food was warm, and the food was super affordable. The lamb and rice halal entree that I purchased was $6 for both the halal and a canned soda. Perfect for my budget! In addition, it filled my fat-ass. For the halal you have the choice of having the hot sauce added. If you are bad with spicy foods then ask for it on the side. It tends to get spicy after a few bites. But if you love spicy then go for it. I loved it! The only issue I had with Yomna's is that there is no seating. I know this is a food cart but it would be nice to have some kind of seating near the PowerPlant area for customers to eat. Also it would be very inconvenient for people to park to get to the food truck. Just a heads up. read more

I lived in NYC for a couple of years and sort of survived on the halal food carts as far as lunch/dinner on-the-go goes and ( after having successfully replicated it at home) I kind of consider myself a halal cart food expert. Lol This one is as good as it gets in Baltimore. FYI I have tried several carts around the city (including this exact one a few years ago), it wasn't good the first time I had it- they probably have a new chef/owner now and use better quality ingredients. I had it again last week- I got the mixed one with chicken, gyro as well as falafel. This was really good. The white sauce was spot on as well as the red sauce. They are using better quality rice now (hence the mild hike in the prices), and it is way less greasy than before as well as many other carts around the city. This halal food snob recommends! (If you're curious about how I rate the actual 'halal guys' I have had it at 4 different locations now - I don't like it- it is insanely, nonsensically greasy... and becoming greasier by day; also the white sauce that I once loved is becoming sour and sour'er every day... so staying away from halal guys). read more

Got to eat from here when they had a food truck inside the Baltimore Convention Center during Otakon. They were serving a limited menu including Gyro's, and finding a good Gyro where I live is rare when it's not Fair/Carnival season. It was not huge but was packed full of lamb and vegetables. It doesn't look like much, style-wise, but sure does pack some flavor. Yogurt sauce is garlicky and creamy, lots of dill. Hot sauce is just barely tingly on the tongue, but bright vinegar punch. Lamb is pressed gyro meat like you'd find at most festival/street vendors, highly seasoned, somewhat salty. Chicken is dark meat chunks, still moist, and spice-rubbed. Falafel patties look homemade, bright green with parsley and cilantro, chunky chickpeas. Rice is basmati and seasoned as well. I'm a fan! read more

I go to "the cart" as we call it on the corner of Market Place and Lombard weekly when I'm in town. Portions are HUGE and you cannot beat the price... I typically get the lamb and chicken rice combo platter. I've made believers out of several local B-More folks that were leary of trying it otherwise. I think I like their food over other carts because it had softer taste. Meat was tender and bite sized. Platter was a lot of food and I had half leftover. The wrap was nicely toasted to give it a little crisp and closed well. Wrap was big too. Sauces were tasty. Hot sauce was a bit strong but added to the taste when used in moderation. Both wrap and rice platter were $6 each with can of soda. The guy was friendly, fast and told about two of his other trucks too, one near the courthouse and one other. The sauces are tasty and you can make it as spicy or not spicy as you want - don't be afraid to tell them how you like it! My go-to is always the chicken over rice (I wish I could make rice as good as theirs).
