New space for Danny's ! Brought my recumbent trike in for a 'tune up' today. Since it had unfortunately sat out in the elements for over a year, it needs some TLC and 'restoration'. Danny's new 'digs' are down the street from their previous location. This one is in the same 'strip' as CVS Mohegan Lake. Clean, spacious, well organized. The worst! I brought them my Specialized Turbo Levo e-bike, it wouldn't boot up and they had it a week. When I picked it up they said it was fine so I brought it home and it wouldn't boot up....again so I brought it back and picked it up AGAIN! Once again it didn't work but yet, they still insisted that nothing was wrong with it and the "tech" there, Charlie, had the ever living b***s to argue with me. He argued with me! I ended up calling Specialized's customer service and the regional sales guy went and picked it up and brought it somewhere else. It turns out that Charlie isn't certified to work on my bike. The guy doesn't know what a short is. Doh! Incompetent Poor and rude customer service A no go. read more

I brought in an old GT All Terra bike (30+ years old). It needed some TLC (cleaning, new cables, new brakes, new wheels/inner tubes, etc.) It came out great! They talked me through everything they were going to do and delivered. They really know their stuff and have a great selection of new bikes and accessories. Reasonably priced and friendly service. Terrible service in Mohegan Lake! I bring my hard tail in for service to look at two problems, loud brakes and faulty front derailleur. They sit on the bike for 9 days before they perform any work. Then when I pick it up, I test ride it. They clearly haven't looked at the front derailleur and now the front gear indicator is no longer working (it was working when I dropped it off). When I question them they tell me "at least the gears still shift. I never really use the indicator anyway." Terrible service. I bring the bike in to solve a problem and they give it back with different problem. This really leaves you with the feeling that you've been taken advantage of. I highly recommend not using this outfit. read more

Amazing customer service. Had a problem with my bike rack and they stepped up the game! Found missing screws repaired bike hooks and made sure the rack was secure and safely attached to my car! Then as a courtesy checked my bike to make sure everything was in good shape. Highly recommend Danny's! read more

I went to Danny's Cycles with a frame issue on a my Trek road bike and they were excellent, especially John (one the managers). He kept me updated every step of the way with the frame eventually having to be replaced. He dealt directly with Trek about the replacement frame and when it arrived they transferred most of parts from my old frame onto the new one saving me alot of money. For the parts that couldnt be transferred, they gave me the part options I could go with letting me decide which ones I want to go with. I fully recommend Danny's Cycles to everyone who either needs a bike repaired or a new bike. The staff is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Just bought our youngest her first bike here. Dan, Guy & Charlie were awesome. We were looking for a balance bike but soon realized our daughter was much too big for one. They got her in the cutest bike, which was right for her size, took off the pedals and training wheels to make it a balance bike, and showed us how we could re-install everything when she was ready. We spent more than we expected but I feel like we will get through several bike stages with this one vs just a few months of use with the original balance bike plan. Overall I am thrilled with the service we received, the included warranty with her little bike and our overall experience. They made a little girl's birthday wish come true! While my son and his friend were riding from Princeton NJ to Montreal, one of their chains broke and they were able to catch a ride to Danny's. The friendly and helpful people at this terrific shop fixed the chain, gave their bikes a fresh once-over and adjusted various brakes, cables and other items. They charged them next to nothing and helped them re-route to get back onto bike-friendly roads. All in all - competent, committed and kind which is everything you hope for in a community bike shop. Ignore the cheap-skates who complain about expensive tune-ups for Walmart bikes! People are seriously silly. A tune-up or a set of tires are the same for a used junker car or a brand new one. The cost of labor and parts is pretty much the same. Why should a shop discount their labor because you bought a Z-grade item? I bought a Trek road bike from these folks and they spent two hours (!) making sure it fit me right. Sure, I spent nearly 2K, but they spent the same time with my son's Trek that cost much less and with my wife, who has yet to buy a bike at all. Bottom line: Quality people who are expert and enthusiastic about biking. They are well priced. Some accessories look expensive, but look at them online and they're very close. I purchased a bike from the mohegan lake store back in oct of last yr for my birthday. I had originally purchased a bike from sears. rode that bike for a month. Returned it because bike was to much (mountain bike) I had not been on a bike in over 15yrs. Went into danny's and found one that was better suited for my needs. I rode each bike to my sat class at the westch. tech in Valhalla every Saturday. The danny's bike was a much better fit. Now i ride every day to my job in Brooklyn. We went to several other bike shops for a new mountain for my son. Figuring the trend would be more like those, which were all about how to convince us that spending 4k$+ (!!!) was the only & best route. You know the phrase, 'you had me at hello' ? At Dannys, we were greeted & shown several bikes in our price range, without being told they were garbage, or with distain. The crew, Ken & Charlie are awesome, patient, smart, & funny. They made us feel apart of their tribe. After buying an amazing Trek bike, keeping it serviced there, everything has been amazingly smooth for the past 18mos. We will be buying all bikes here. Just an update (see my original posting from 4/13/12 for the complete story) - After having that awful experience in your shop, I looked for other alternatives. I was able to get the bike tuned up locally for $40. The very competent technician took 25 minutes to tune-up the bike, lubricate the chain, adjust the brakes, etc. He commented that the bike was in excellent condition and needed nothing except some minor adjustments. He was shocked when I told him that you wanted to charge me $80 for the tune-up especially when you had in the bike in your possession and could see the almost new condition it was in. My daughter has had a wonderful summer riding the bike and countless hours of enjoyment from it (no thanks to Mohegan Cycles / Danny's Cycles)!) read more

Best bike shop experience I ever had. Maybe even the best retail/repair experience overall. These guys are knowledgeable, passionate employees who love cycling and it is very apparent once you get a chance to talk with them. They went way above and beyond to help me out with my son's broken bike. Exceeded my expectations in every way. I went to Danny's Cycles on black friday with my eye on a Trek Speed Concept 2.5. I was having trouble swallowing the price of a 2012 model, and it turned out they had a marked down 2011 that was even further discounted due to black friday, score! Charlie was fabulous. He adjusted the bike for me and let me ride it around the parking lot. I purchased the bike and asked if it would be possible for them to transfer it to their NYC store, as it is closer to where I live. They were more than happy to transfer the bike, which arrived two days later. I'll be bringing this bike and my current road bike to them whenever my rides need TLC. Danny's in Scarsdale is highly recommended. Was loyal to another shop for 20 years and became dissatisfied w/ service. Went on Yelp recommendation to Joey Colon in Scarsdale store. He spent over 6 hours with me before the sale of a new bike, and after to make adjustments to my riding style. All he cared about was a good fit and riding comfort. Explained the different types of bikes and options. He still races, so his experience is better than most salesmen. I tried many different types of bikes before I settled on a Cervalo. Joey took some parts off my old bike and placed them on new bike, too. Didn't have to leave it w/ mechanic. He followed thru with excellent service from my email questions. Any time I went back, I never had to wait, Joey always made me a priority. The prices of new bikes were better than other Westchester stores when I bought the bike in March. And lifetime tune-ups will keep me a loyal customer in the future. I am definitely buying another bike thru Joey at Danny's in Scarsdale. read more

Just bought a new bike from Danny's not the greatest deal , but what's big is the free life time tune ups. At 80 dollars a tune up In 5 years it will cover the cost of the bike. Accessories for the bikes on the expensive side at Danny's . Example is a water bottle holder charge 18 dollars and that with a 10 percent discount. So would I buy from Danny's again, yes along as they have the life time free tune ups.All accessories I will buy from Amazon an install myself. I paid a rude salesperson $110 for a "tune up" and a flat tire fix. They had the bike for a week. The tire was flat the next day and the brakes squealed every time I applied them. I was so turned off by the rude, indifferent attitude of the workers and their impatience with the couple of questions I had when I picked up the bike that I did not return the bike for proper repair as I should have. Not at all what I'd want in a bike store and I've found the other local spot to be much more conscientious and competent. read more

I bought a Trek hybrid here in May with a pair of ergonomic hand grips added on. The salesperson was totally attentive and patient. Not at all pushy or trying to "upsell" me. I tried out several different bikes she suggested during 2 different visits before choosing this one. It is exactly right. When I went back for a couple of gear and brake adjustments after a break in period, the mechanical work was done perfectly with less than 24 hour turn around and an email notice to me the minute it was completed. Charge: $0.00, you get free maintenance included for a year from purchase! I went back last week to get a trunk rack which I had researched online. I gladly paid $15 over the online price because the salesperson unpacked it, assembled it properly, then took another 15 minutes to install it properly while instructing me how to do it with little tips that made it supereasy and quick and secure when I got it home and began using it. These folks are just great. A comprehensive selection to choose from in a large space from with impeccable service. Made shopping (I'm a guy, I hate to shop for anything) a totally positive experience. read more

The ability to test ride various bikes numerous times without any pressure to purchase was a plus.
