I went to Yorktown nails today, based on multiple yelp reviews. I am giving it five stars because they did a really good and detailed-oriented jobs on my pedicure and gel manicure - all for $55. The salon itself it a lot cleaner than most of the ones I have gone to in DC for the same price. When I went in, Tina (I think that is her name), did an excellent job. The basic pedi includes callus removal and a hot stone massage for $25. The gel manicure was also excellent; I picked a specific color because I wanted it dark with a hint of color. Before just doing two coats and then putting the tip coat on, she asked me if I wanted another one to make it darker. Most salons don't do that. I was very happy with my services and will make the trek out to the burbs to get my nails done. read more

I have been manicures pretty regularly since the 90s. They usually last a few days before they chip and I end up just removing the polish before the week is over. I was at Yorktown Nails 4 weeks ago and Amy did a gel manicure. She was lovely and IT LASTED 4 WEEKS!!! It grew out but was perfect right up until today when I went back and had them done again. I used another lady because Amy wasnt there. Wish I had asked her name because she was also great. I dont write reviews - this is my first ever. But it had to be done! I'm a nurse and wash my hands all day and I garden and am rough with my hands. I will never go anywhere else! The price is very reasonable, the staff is always nice and they never rush the job. And they serve a variety of free hot teas. This place is fabulous!! read more

Poor service. My My nail specialist was more interested in talking to coworkers and on the phone then paying attention to what she was doing. She forgot me while she was in the back. Sat with my nails drying forever.Didn't feel like the place was clean. My toes hurt was she cut to deep. read more

I started coming to Yorktown Nail when I moved here in February after reading through salon reviews. Things that originally drew me to YN were price, proximity, and the rare luxury of a place to park my car for free. However, after my first visit I knew I would become a regular. It's the little things at YN that really set the experience apart for me. Each pedicure is accompanied with a choice of tea and a soothing Pandora playlist of unplugged covers and originals that allow you to zone out and completely relax. I never feel rushed either - there is often a wait here but they will not compromise the quality of your service to bring in as much business as possible which is a treat as I often felt this way at other salons. Most importantly, they consistently do an amazing job - it doesn't matter who you get, they are all meticulous and take the time to go back and fix things other manicurists would breeze over. I now go to YN every two weeks for a gel mani and every 3/4 weeks for a pedicure. Best advice is to go in the early afternoon if you have the time as they are very busy on weekends/after work. read more

I went to Yorktown for the mani/pedi special and they took me an hour before I called. I was impressed with the quality of the work and with the professionalism of the owner and the cosmologists. The equipment for the pedicures (back massagers) are also nice. I went because they have an an amazing special which lasts through 2/28 and I wanted to try the place out. I will be going back and recommend others who live in the area try the place out too. There is free parking in the parking lot in the front of the place too (you will find spaces most of the time). read more

Took my daughter to Yorktown Nails today for a mani/pedi. This salon is recently opened, very clean and the staff is friendly. They have a nice selection of colors from OPI and ESSIE. The pedicure stations were awesome and they used clean, sterilized tools. They use organic scrubs that smell really fresh on your legs and feet and a nice long massage. I think she was there for over an hour. I would definitely recommend this place. Oh, almost forgot to mention parking. I was told by the owner that you can park anywhere in the strip mall despite the signs in front of each store claiming parking only for that store. read more

Lured in by the $28 mani-pedi special and the great reviews, I tried Yorktown Nails for the first time today. It was excellent, for a non-spa pedicure. It was very clean, and the massaging chairs were awesome. The mani and pedi were well done. It has free parking, unlike the place I was previously going to in Market Commons. Just had a gel mani and pedi by Cindy. I was a walk in on a busy Monday morning. I was seen pretty quickly and Cindy was great. The gel was not done too thick which I appreciate, and her leg massage was fantastic. I live pretty far away and was only in the area to get my car serviced, but if I'm ever back in the area I would definitely come back. This nail salon, to me is the absolute worst in the Arlington area. Made an appointment a week in advance and let them know I get gel nail manicure and pedicures every 3 weeks. They knew I was looking for new salon since my regular place was sold and I prefer a salon close to my home. The people that I encountered were not gracious, seemed uninterested including my technician that was so meek to even file my nails or do cuticles properly. Having experienced many nail salons, I've never seen blue dye in water for pedicures.....it stuck to my legs.......if it's a disinfectant.....they should let the customer know because I had a reaction on my legs when I got home. Hands down the worst pedicure I've ever had. I did not see her open the bag of supposedly sterilized instruments, the towels were grey and ragged. She put tissue between between my toes rather than rubber toe separators, so my pedicure was smeared. The gel manicure is horrible....2 of my nails pealed off after 3 days and now less than 2 weeks the other nails are peeling too. Don't know what products they use but they seem cheap. This place is disgusting to me in every way. read more

What is the point of having an appointment if walk-ins are a priority? This place seems to value their regulars, which is a good thing (for those people). Just don't take appointments if you're not going to honor them! I would not have minded the wait so much if a) they didn't keep tacking on 10 minutes; b) the manager didn't have a nonchalant attitude about seating a walk-in before an appointment; and c) the manager did not try to blame the wait on me being 5 minutes late (this was not a problem when I arrived as there were NO technicians available at that time). The place is clean and fume-free. But the poor customer service, and the fact that it's out of the way for me will prevent me from ever going back. read more

Yorktown Nails is a much needed addition to the Arlington area. It is a top-notch salon that is clean, offers high end polishes, has friendly staff and a wonderful owner. I have been getting mani/pedis from Tina at Yorktown Nails for over five years now. I would probably follow her anywhere because her foot massage is THAT good. But now that she is at Yorktown Nails, I get the added bonus of getting a terrific mani/pedi in a clean and friendly salon. Also, the owner is terrific and a member of the Arlington community. They go out of there way to make everyone feel welcome. They have even hosted neighborhood nights for the women in my neighborhood staying open late. The shopping center where they are located is very run down, but please do not let that deter you. It is immaculate inside. I'm so happy to have found Yorktown Nails! I read about them on the Arlington Now blog and made my first visit for a manicure and pedicure in February. I was hooked by their prices but the quality is as good as any other decent salon in Arlington. The pedicures last for 3 weeks without chipping until growth brings you back in. The gel manicures also last well. I haven't had a normal painted manicure yet, but I have had a no-polish manicure and the technician buffed a beautiful shine on my nails that has stayed shiny for a week so far. The owner recognizes me every time, even though I am usually only there once a month or so. She always seems grateful for return customers! The technicians are friendly and though they only accept cash tips, your technician will be incredibly kind to you if you find yourself with only a credit card. Just make sure to come back in and tip them as soon as you get cash to show your gratitude! There is parking on-site and the salon is rarely busy outside of the normal Saturday rush. I have no problem walking in after work on a weekday or even a Friday afternoon. read more

Used to love this place but now they are a victim of their success. They are always in a rush so quality lacks... The last two times I've gotten ingrown toenails within days....so painful. (Bad nail clipping.) I've had to ask for the clear coat as the technician rushed and didn't put it on. Their leg massages during the pedi are 2 mins rather than 5-10. And when I got gel nails the lady was so sloppy she got the gel on my cuticles which meant the gel began to peel back within two days rather than a week or longer. Sigh. So disappointing! read more

I've been to lots of Arlington nail salons over the years but I am now a regular at Yorktown. I got tired of being disappointed everywhere else. All of the technicians are great! I usually get the Signature pedi and mani, but I've gotten gel and tried the other pedi and mani upgrades. All of the pedis get hot stone massage! Lots of pedi chairs that have massage. They offer tea and it is a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Customer service is great and everyone is smiling and nice. I recommend it to everyone! read more

Wanted to try this place since the yelp reviews were good and I just moved to the area. Unfortunately my experience was not very good. Called to make an appointment with Tina at 5:15 pm. Since I'm new, I was having trouble finding the place and was running late. I called to let them know I'd be 10 min late (arriving at 5:25 pm) and the lady who answered checked with her and said, "no problem, she is with a customer and will wait for you, thank you for calling". Well I arrived and it's in a strip mall with horrible parking. I walked into their salon at 5:25 pm exactly when I said I'd be arriving. The check in lady was on the phone and I just signed it and sat down on some cramped dirty chairs. Then 5 min later Tina walks over and said "it's 5:30 and I started a pedicure with someone." I'm sorry I arrived late but I at least had the courtesy to call. If she was just going to take another customer then they should have told me to turn around and not come in. Most restaurants and places have a 15 min grace period. This place doesn't even have a 10 min grace period EVEN when you call. Save yourself the trouble!!! You'll probably have to be wait to be seen but if you're late they have NO COURTESY! She was well into the pedicure which makes me think she forgot about or didn't care about my appointment and was going to use me being a little late as an excuse. Thankfully this place did not pan out. There was something good that came out of it. I went on yelp and found another place in Clarendon and they were amazing! Much more modern too! In fact the name includes the word modern. Yorktown nails is in an old strip mall and the place reflects how antiquated it is. Treat yourself to a much more modern, clean place for the same price. I've been to Yorktown three times now and have yet to find anything negative. All 3 appointments have been mani/pedi appointments. with variations on the pedicure. As you sit in the pedicure chair, they pleasantly hand you two menus, one with a wide variety of teas and another is the pedicure menu. Each technician has taken their time on the pedicure which is greatly appreciated, warm flat stones are the best part. Manicures are even, precisely and always cleaned up around the cuticles before finishing. I appreciate their attention to detail and salon wide dedication to precision. Best part? It is a really great rate for what you get. Semi-spa pedicure, and regular manicure was $42 w/out tip. Yorktown is worth it! read more

Best pedicure in northern va! I'm not super picky about my nails but If I'm splurging for a mani pedi I want the nail tech to do a good job. I went because my friend had gave me a gift card for my birthday. I decided to get gel manicure. I wanted to keep my nails long but the nail technician cut it sooo short. And made the gel really thin, to the point where it started to peel the next week. After two weeks I decided to go to another salon. The nail technician told me that who ever previously did my nails either didn't put a base coat or used a really bad one, because the nail polish stained my nails. I highly suggest going to another nail salon if you want to get gel manicure!!! read more
