At ...lets say ..the latter part of my life after 50 I never thought I would have taken up or started bowling let alone write about ...but it has been such a good experience not only therapeutically in the physical part but mentally also. And I owe a lot of this good experience in my bowling endeavor to the employees at Yosemite Lanes...in particular a guy named Cody. A mountain of a man in size and heart he is a credit and I would suspect a vital asset to the bowling alley. I started out going in myself and seeing what I could do with 2 shoulders that need replacing along with other limbs that dont quite move like they use to. Pitiful sums up my scores and first attempts bowling.It was painful to witness of which I assume Cody did from his spot manning the operations desk. Whether he decided I needed help out of the kindness of his heart or for the safety and well being of the innocents bowling in my general vicinity. Thats exactly what he did...without neglecting other customers or from what I could see keeping the machine running at Yosemite Lanes. This guy took moments of time to give me advice and tips as to how to (correctly ) hold the ball and roll it with finesse ..not muscle. I witnessed the finesse of this over 300 lb 6ft 4 plus fellow as he proceeded to mow down pins at will.. a modest demonstration of his skill and expertise. A memorable and valuable learning experience that motivated me to keep trying.. and also... return to Yosemite Lanes to continue my bowling. When you have people /employees who try to help make your experience better,or more rewarding at what ever level or age you are in a sporting activity ...well I think that's a real good thing...I mean think about it. in the past how many similar places have you been to and the person/persons behind the counter just took your money conducting themselves like they were practically counting the minutes before they were off work.These days there are far to many...but not so at Yosemite. Now I wont be joining the Professional Bowling Circuit any day soon ...or placing any Bowling trophies on the mantel at home. But thanks to employees like Cody ...Dave and company at Yosemite Lanes ..my game doesn't suck anymore... and the odds or chance that I could possibly kill or maim somebody ( with the ball?) has all but diminished...honest! read more

This place is pretty cool. They have alot of music videos that take me back an make me reminiscent of back in the day. The bartender really knows what she's doing an if your too tipsy you can always find someone to go home with without even saying much. They also play alot of local music here too. It's a great place to chill. They even have pool tables here. It's pretty convenient that there's a restaurant just five steps away too. It's a grill read more

I feel bad doing this review because I don't think it falls on the business but the bat tender. The guy working on March 10 2018 late shift 8pm and after ruined it. So we bought a large tower from the girl bartender Michelob ultra for 24. We go for a refill and the guy does the refill I hand him $30 and he just goes to the next person. I ask for my change so I can tip. He says let me check how much it is, says "it's 30........ if someone charged you less earlier I'm sorry but it's 30.... sorry." I decided f it you can have the 6 dollar tip. This was complete theft. Setting his own prices to keep a tip. A real let down to be honest. Won't be back for that very reason. Looks can be deceiving. What a fun place to bowl! Lanes are well-oiled, table areas and seats are clean. No problems with my bowling shoes sticking either (which is a pet-peeve of mine and a problem at another bowling alley). Huge fan of the scoring machines, I love the silly, entertaining graphics! Not too crowded, nice chill atmosphere, and a good sound system to boot. Front desk is friendly and efficient. Add a bathroom update and a coat of new paint and I'd give em 5 stars! ;-) read more

If you want to go bowling, there's not much difference between here and McHenry, besides one distinct difference: The mood/people at McHenry are more "upscale" and "posh" compared to Yosemite, which is generally much more casual. Not saying one is better than the other, but that's what i've taken from my experiences at the two places. The one thing that Yosemite has though that is a general rarity is an actual In The Groove arcade machine (last I went, at least): the only one around for miles. Not in that great of condition, but it's there, and the USB ports work AFAIK too. read more

This place has gone down hill.. I bought Groupon to play for 2hrs and as me and my family went inn, the rude woman was horrible and said we only have an hour before the league came in but on there website says nothing about that. As I try to explain to her, she pull her phone out and try to prove me wrong but didn't happen. She was not helpful at all. I called the manager but they haven't called back. DO NOT RESERVE LANE ONLINE! My family of 4 decided to do some Extreme Bowling Saturday night. I called earlier in the day to reserve a lane for 9:00 PM and was told I could reserve a lane using their website. After creating yet another profile on a website I will only use once in a blue moon, I was able to reserve ONE lane for 2 hours and the TOTAL was a shocking $125.00, which had to be paid online. When we arrive at Yosemite Lanes, I look up at the fees posted and I see $15 per person unlimited time. That would be $60 for the 4 of us, yet I was charged $125 which is more than twice the amount. I asked the lade at the desk why I paid $65 more. Her response was because their website has different prices than those posted for people who walk in. I thought I was making it easier for them and us to reserve a lane and doing the transaction online. Had I known it would cost me twice as much to do this, I would not have wasted 30 minutes creating my profile. It would have been nice if their website warned you in advance that reserving a lane online will cost you an ADDITIONAL $65. Ridiculous especially since there are plenty of lanes available all night. I feel like I have been robbed and the more I think about it, the more upset I get. read more

I've bowled many of my best games here, they seem to take care of the lanes fairly well. It's not as posh as McHenry, but it surprasses McHenry in every other aspect to me. Customer service is top-notch, they are on top of things and don't neglect you here. I've went with my students on MANY field trips here and they've never failed to deliver the goods. I wish I could say something about the music - but I don't even notice it because it's turned down so low. Things might be better that way - who knows. They have a nice little arcade room and pretty decent diner food. I used to play video games here before I knew what bowling exactly was and spent many a quarter on Street Fighter II, bitd (back in the day!). They had crazy hours here at one time (I believe they were open 24 hours?!?! at one point) but times have a changed. read more

I used to work and bowl here for five years. I've had a lot of issues with this place. The food is overpriced and low in quality, employee moral is low due to conflicts with the restaurant manager and everyone else, and they don't regularly clean the bowling ball fingers (so if you're a germaphobic, it's not your place). They always find ways to cut corners. Those who have worked there for years only saw a raise when the state mandated it. They never showed an appreciation for their employees and didn't value them as human beings. AND they claimed that we didn't get breaks because it says in our contracts that we give up our right to an undisturbed break but never went out of their way to prove it (and I believe that it's illegal). Some of the employees are okay and deliver decent service. The problems all stem from upper management and the owner. read more

I went again just recently with a large group of friends. We were able to call Thursday and reserve 3 lanes for Friday. They kept the lanes around us open, and we ended up using another one or two lanes. We had people arriving over the course of an hour and added lanes as necessary. I bowled my best game ever here. All in all it was a great experience. The bowling is super affordable $2.50 for shoes and $2.50 for each additional game, per person. I'm not sure about the other bowling alleys in the area, but I've been to places were the facilities aren't nearly as good, and the bowling was almost $30 for 2 people to play a game. I'll definitely be back to Yosemite Lanes! read more

Have been here 2 times recently, including today, and had a great time with my nephew!! Friendly staff, reasonable prices and they even have free bowling for kids all summer! We will be sure to sign up for the club next time we go back! For the adults there is a surprisingly awesome bar area ! Aaaand they are even open 24 hours a day!!! Now that's insane! LoL read more

Not a very family friendly place. Parking lot is not safe during the day. I had to chase a couple of homeless away from my car during our first time visit there when I went back out to get an item. Also they do not honor coupons from your cell phone, only printed one. Really! What century do we live in? Bowling shoes are nasty and well worn. Do not use them! Bowling balls are from the 1970's and the staff are less than friendly. You can tell the are tired and cater to the regulars, mostly seniors taking a trip down memory lane. They do have updated score screens but that does little to shake the dated image when you walk in. Again, be careful of your vehicle in the parking lot! We won't be back. read more

I've never been here, but I receive emails from them offering coupons. But haven't been able to retrieve them. So I called the number from the email and a grumpy old lady named Kathy answered. They play decent music, but I swear, once the clock strikes 11, they play the crappiest music on earth.....I think it's a ploy to chase people out so they can close early. Out of the two bowling alley's in Modesto, Yosemite Lanes is my favorite. Its easier to access and their rates are amazing. I usually go during the week after 9:00 P.M. Games are usually between $1.50-$2.00 after 9:00pm during the week. I use my own bowling shoes which helps with cost. They have recently revamped the screens and computers to make it more in this century. Not giving them 5 stars because they need new bowling balls and their parking lots need better lighting. Other than that, I've heard the restaurant attached to the alley is pretty good and best band for your buck. Check this place out! read more

It looks kind of meh from the outside, but they have some nice lanes and great animations/visuals for your bowling experience. Games were reasonably priced, and staff was friendly. Only thing I don't like, that a lot of bowling alleys are doing is installing those big ipods to pay and pick music to play. I get it; it's a source of revenue for the alley, but when it goes dead quit in the alley it really screws with your game. Otherwise, I love the touch screens and I love seeing all my bowling stats. read more

This place is now a 0 stars...we bowl there and they are full of politics. Their advertised food prices are high to begin with and then you always end up paying more at the register. Now since the regulars refuse to buy their food because of their ongoing bad customer service and refusal to fix their pricing (INSTEAD OF) THE OWNERSHIP has the staff POLICING the regulars to make sure they don't bring food from home to eat... We go there for a good time and our nights have turmed nothing short of stressful and disappointing and you know it's because a lot of us customers have complained. read more

We used to love this place but unfortunately today our experience was horrible. We bought a 2hr Groupon to bring our children for a family night. I checked their website to make sure they had open bowling on (Monday) the night we intended to use our Groupon. Got my boys all ready to have pizza and a bowling night only to be turned away. We got there at 5 and were told we can only bowl an hour because they had leagues taking every lane at 6:00. The lady at the counter was super rude and unhelpful. She told me if we choose to bowl we'd lose our other hour. She even told me the website said they had a league so it isn't their fault like she was ready to argue. She pulled out her phone to look at the website. If you look at the website it says nothing about league under open bowling and it says you can bowl Monday anytime. We called to talk to a manager and are still waiting for a call back. They need to fix the website and work on the customer service. read more
