We recently had dinner and it was lacking to say the least I got a chicken Philly cheesesteak sandwich very dry thin flat as a pancake with side salad for $14.00 My wife got half turkey sandwich and cup of clam chowder and she said it was good. Offered us to sit and eat with the most welcoming attitude! She deserves a raise! I have never had such good customer service that close to close! Hell yeeeah this place was great. It had like an old classic diner truck stop appeal to it. An had that great bowling alley smell. This date seemed pretty successful. The tri tip sandwich, tostada salad, an zucchini sticks were excellent. I'd try there milkshakes too I am not sure why tho but for some reason eating here gave me the biggest gas ever ooooh man did it ever. The food was great tho. The waitress was great too. This review is straight from my brother. Enjoy: THIS PLACE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! True chicken fried steak is made here with beautiful fresh potatoes and eggs with a very calm and nice side of sourdough toast. The place is VERY quiet and admirable and even when next to a bowling alley is very cool!!!! My mom got a nice free pass for wine which is cool and I would definitely recommend this place for the fall/winter time. Next time I will try the burgers, but for what I got, 11/10 is what I rate it. First time here because we were getting my windshield fixed across the street. I got the BBQ chicken strip sandwich and potato salad and my bf got the same thing but with chili cheese fries. Everything was hot and hella good. Chicken strips were big and the BBQ sauce was equally sweet and spicy. Chicken was crispy and steaming hot. No fat either. The chef also came out and asked how it was. Our server kept up on our drinks as well. It was a quiet little place with mostly booths and it's open daily until 10pm. I don't have rave reviews for the breakfast. We split a chicken fried steak and ordered the kid's French Toast for the little guy. Just those two items took over 20 minutes to get to us. I don't think it had anything to do with the wait staff more than it did with what was going on in the kitchen. It just all seemed......dysfunctional. Two guys in the kitchen couldn't manage short order cooking for all 5 tables that were seated. It just seemed illogical. The chicken fried steak was over fried. It tasted like it had been left in the fryer for too long and the gravy was....meh...whatever. Nothing too spectacular here. The surrounding area isn't anything too look at either. I should have changed my mind when I saw the "Millier Light" neon light display turned on in the window for BREAKFAST. To my disappointment, I decided to brave it with the hubs and the little one. The next indication that I should turn around and Yelp something else was upon our entry into the antechamber which smelled like old carpet and bowling shoe polish....not quite an appetizing experience just before a meal. The inside lighting is dingy and sad. It was so dark, I wouldn't have known the place was open had it not been for the people already seated at tables. All in all, the food wasn't horrible, but it wasn't anything to write home about. Walking in, though, it felt like this place needs a "Gordon Ramsay Kitchen Nightmares" episode to help redeem some of its lackluster qualities. read more

So let start where they only gave us 2 menu's for a group of 7 people On a Sunday evening we were the only ones there and it took 10 mins to get out drinks then another 15 mins to come back to get our selection of plates we waited for 40 mins and still no food and when asked when our order will be ready they said another 20 min wait we just about had it and walked out! The worst service I've seen in years then they had the audacity to ask us to pay for the drinks like we didn't wait 60 mins for a response for our food I do not recommend anyone coming here. What made me more mad that I had work and got this bad service ended up grabbing Panda Express barely got to work on time. They need to reconsider their values in customer service and self awareness bc they kept forgetting about us. read more

We take our children bowling a lot and the food is amazing. We have food allergies and they are very accommodating. Service is always great and if there is a problem they correct it immediately. My family and I have been coming here for years to have breakfast, sometimes brunch, on Sundays. The place has a very cozy feel to it and their food is pretty good. It's nothing out of this world but I would definitely not refer to any of their food as gross as it was done in another review. What really stands out to me and my family as well is the excellent service. At some other places it's hard to get refills on coffee but that's not the case here. The servers are constantly checking up on us to make sure everything is fine. They're also all so genuinely nice and attentive. None of that fake kindness that you can pick up on from the people working at other places. This is one of our go to breakfast places and it will most likely continue to be so for as long as it remains open. I know it may not be for everyone but I recommend giving it a chance. read more

The bowling alley is a East Side Modesto staple. They got bomb food from breakfast to dinner. They got an amazing buffalo chicken pizza. And the six bagger hot cake plate is amazing. The appearance is nice, it's nothing fancy, but it's cozy, it's history pretty much, seeing the awards and pictures on the walls is nice. We bowled there for years... food not bad service is and you got to watch their menu prices and what they actually charge it's more expensive at the register and they don't honor their pricing (false advertisement) to draw you in...after many complaints their bowling attendance is down and so is the restaurant patronage because of it and the owner says he doesn't know about it...whatever! read more

sometime back I wrote a 5 star review on the SOS the Strikes & Spares Grill serves up. I'm sorry to say that the last couple times I went there and ordered the SOS, it wasn't the same. Seems they have changed the recipe for their white gravy, and it isn't very good at all. Seems they reduced the quantity of the ground beef in the gravy, and what's left in the mix isn't worth ordering. Next time I go there I will ask them what changes they made to the recipe, and inform them they went way backwards with it. read more

My wife and I went there for lunch this afternoon. I had the Western burger and she the Veggie omelet. This was our first visit and went there because of the positive reviews on Yelp. The area is somewhat sketchy, but the interior of the bowling alley is well lit and very clean and was populated by a large group of women bowlers, The positive ratings are well deserved! The restaurant was well decorated, pleasant, comfortable, and appeared very clean. We were able to converse easily with each other and did not notice any bothersome background noise. The service was fast and very friendly. My wife's omelet was the best she ever had and looked generous. My burger was excellent and came with bacon. I tried a piece of the bacon separately from the sandwich and it was the best tasting bacon I ever remember having. Our meal was about $23 which included one soft drink and one hot tea. We will go there again and I would recommend it to others read more
