Love and War is near a haunted house that my friends and I go to regularly. I realized I hadn't ever been to one of these; and if I had it was when I was young enough to not remember. My husband and I had plans before the haunt, and needed to kill time and grab food so we went ahead and came here. Staff did an outstanding job. Food was decent enough; though on the higher end of what I like too pay at our more locally owned favorites. We have a few more places that I would like to try in the area; but this is a reasonable spot if we have folks that would prefer to try something they already know vs something new.

My wife and I came up here for dinner in between events we had in the area. There are things like the haunted house nearby. It also looks like they regularly have live music in the bar area; but if you want to sit in a different area there is that available. Prices are a little higher than what we pay for similar things at hole in the wall places we go; but about average for what we expect in the area for sit down chains. I enjoyed the seasoning they added to their fried pickles and my meal was decent enough. Not sure if we will make regular visits when we are over here because there are a number of other places we want to try near by; but we at least know there are options here we would try if we do make it back over here again.

Chicken fried steak with a side of cole slaw $16 September 2024

Never heard of this place.. it's nice if you're in the area. Early weekend night and there was no wait. It was decently busy though. The restaurant is pretty big. Parking lot was pretty full by the end of the night. It is really loud, so hard to have a conversation I think... Menu is HUGE and everybody will find something they want! Everything from tex mex to typical American. I feel like steaks are a go to for a lot of people. Food portions are big too!! Got the chicken fried steak ($16) and comes with a side. Got a side of cole slaw. I wish there was more cole slaw - I enjoyed it. The chicken fried steak was HUGEEE though. Definitely couldn't finish it. And it'd be good for 2 people. Not the healthiest choice, but I liked it. Food came out faster than expected w/ how busy it was. Service was fine. I think it's "hidden" in the sense it's not blown up on social media but a decent amount of people know about it! They do shows also.

Service was great for a busy concert night seeing Josh Ward. Didn't eat but enjoyed our cocktails!

Rating: 2.5 stars I came with a group of four for a musical fundraiser. We paid a cover of 15 dollars per person and we're allowed to sit in the covered "outdoor" seating area. We could choose any seat we wanted. The space was large and nice. They mostly had elevated tables and chairs which were on a slant and uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time though. Service was pretty abysmal. There was only two servers for the whole area and so it took forever to get food and drinks or even orders stated. We ordered WAGON WHEELS which was a fried pickle appetizer for the table. The fried pickles were nice and yummy and the Smokey ranch dressing was delicious. Portion size was also huge. Definitely a must order. For my main I ordered the SHRIMP TEXANA. There was only a small handful of plump shrimp. Flavor was ok and they were very well cooked and juicy. They gave a huge scoop of pico on the side which was way more than was needed with the small amount of shrimp they gave. The order came with one side so I ordered the steamed veggies and also mashed potatoes as an extra side. The mashed potatoes were yummy and came with a great cream gravy. The veggies unfortunately were very lacking and not good at all. All in all, a disappointing night but at least there was a pro of lots of live music to enjoy while eating our food.

Service was okay, bought the chicken sandwich which was also okay.. I tipped $20 and bought my pecan pie to-go, when I got home I open everything carefully and ate half way through until I found a hair.. will not be returning.

We have not eaten here in some time but this place definitely could use a face lift and some serious attention to cleanliness!

Great place to sit on the patio & listen to live music. Typical bar type food that is pretty darn good.

The food was okay nothing to write home about, but if we are in the mood for bar food, and live music we will definitely be back.

Is the prime rib available for lunch?

I had prime rib for lunch. A massive and delicious portion; skipped supper that evening. Somehow their prime rib appears to already have been cooked, maybe pre-sliced and is simply "freshened" for each order... it feels like they are not cooking a…

Do they have beef ribs here? I saw someone posted a picture but did not find it in menu.

They changed their menu about a year ago, but they do have Baby Back Ribs

You have to seat yourself - there were enough vacant tables to pick from. Within a few minutes, our server was over and helped us narrow down on what we wanted to order. I went for a Crushed Velvet Mule in addition to Cali, Buffalo (both grilled versions) and Burg B Q. We told our server that between me and my wife, we will be sharing the chicken sandwich and hence requested that it be sliced into 2. Not only were the burgers sliced, it was served in separate plates with sides as well - that was a really nice touch. Cali was a bit bland, Buffalo and Burg B Q were both really nice. The drink was nice as well. There was live music but we were seated near a table that was pretty boisterous, could hardly hear anything. The outdoor seating overlooking greenery and events they do at the restaurant make the place quite different - we will definitely be back soon to try other options on the menu.

We didn't even finish our food and gave it to our dogs instead. The atmosphere was...gross and felt trashy with loud drunks. Daytime might be different but cheaper beer and much more enjoyable food is incredibly plentiful around here. We have no reason to return.

They were not only beautifully crafted but absolutely delicious--each sip had us dreaming of swaying palm trees, ocean breezes, and a Hawaiian getaway. We loved both the Mai Tais and the Beachy Bookkeeper! We decided to share a few appetizers. The Meatballs al Forno was my favorite...packed with flavor and perfect for enjoying with friends over drinks. The Heirloom Tomato Burrata was okay however, the tomatoes didn't seem ripe and were hard and chewy. The Lobster in a Jar was tasty - on the pricey side if you ask me though... One of my favorite things about this spot is the ambiance. The lighting is low (and by low I am flat out dark where you almost can't see your hand in front of your face), creating a dark, cozy, and intimate atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and unwind after a long day. Whether you're catching up with friends, enjoying a date night, or simply looking for a place to escape for a few hours, the vibe here is spot on. The service was fantastic as well. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed, which only added to the experience. Tiki Tuesday has officially become one of my favorite weekly traditions. Great drinks, delicious appetizers, wonderful service, and a cozy atmosphere--what more could you ask for? I'll definitely be back next Tuesday for another little island escape.
