Yotaluma is so amazing and I highly recommend them. I went in for a maintenance service after a family member recommended them, and they took care of everything and replaced everything for a really good, inexpensive price. They gave me a $70 new customer discount without me even asking. The cost of the maintenance service ended up being nearly $400 less than the estimate Hansel gave me, and nearly $300 less than the estimate Outwest gave me (but no shade to Outwest at all; I've never been to them, but they seem to be good as well from what I've heard). The service at Yotaluma was comprehensive and ended up taking under an hour and a half. They are conveniently located near downtown Petaluma, so I was able to take a short walk (maybe 10 minutes) to downtown and eat at a restaurant by the river while I waited, which was really nice. The people at Yotaluma were super friendly, communicative, and did a good job at explaining everything to me when I asked a few questions--thank you, Joe! I will also mention that as a young woman getting a car service for the first time, I've heard stereotypes in the media about people in my demographic getting ripped off by some auto repair shops, since we might not know as much about cars, or we're perceived as not knowing as much about cars. Ryan gave me a second opinion when one mechanic wrongly told me I needed new head gaskets, and possibly a new transmission. I was ready to trade in my vehicle! He diagnosed it as a simple leak and cleaned it up and sent me on my way. I've been going to this place for a really long time and it's been great! But since the pandemic started non of the employees were wearing masks which made me uncomfortable. I emailed them voicing my concerns and asked if they could at least wear a mask when interacting with a customer and they said they can't force anyone to wear a mask. My car stopped working on Highway 101 at about 10:00 on a Saturday night. I called for a tow but they never showed up. I tried again for a tow on Tuesday, but again, the tow truck never showed up. A guy in the neighborhood in which my car was parked suggested that I go to Yotaluma, which was reliable and right around the corner, so I drove the short way over. They fixed my car within a few days (I needed a new radiator) and I was on my way. I believe Tyler and Yotaluma are reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to go there again. I was quoted $100 for oil change and tire rotation but was charged $150. the other issue I have is that they took by bank debit card into the office and it took forever to have then come out to give it back. Then a few days later my checking account was emptied with fraudulent charges on my debit card. It is difficult to point fingers but in this case the only other place I use the card is in grocery stores and i use it, no one else has access. will take my car elsewhere for service from now on. read more

My wife and I both have Toyotas and have been bringing them to Ryan ever since he opened this shop! He ALWAYS squeezes us in and gets our cars back on the road immediately! My Camry wouldn't start a few weeks ago and it was clearly a problem with the starter. Ryan said he knew a trick with the OEM starters (just replacing the contacts rather than the entire starter) and saved me a ton of money! Most recently, the alternator went out in my wife's 4Runner. We had it towed it to him in the morning and it was done by 5! On top of that, he got a deal on a new alternator and saved us a bunch of money AGAIN! Best experience I've ever had with a mechanic by a long shot. I don't like to give 5 star ratings, but Ryan really went beyond all of my expectations and he deserves it. I had a large job to get done on my car: replace my engine, clutch, water pump, etc. This is the kind of work that can get out of control really quickly and start to cost you an arm and a leg. Not only was Ryan's estimate for the work the lowest out of anywhere else in town that I called, the final cost ended up being very close to the initial estimate and he got the job done very quickly. There were also little things he threw in at no additional charge because he noticed he needed to be done. It's good to see a new small-businessman in town with this kind of pride and dedication to his work and customers. Yotaluma was recommended to me by another mechanic in town after it was apparent my 1997 Toyota truck with over 200K miles needed extensive work: cracked cylinder head among other things. Ryan and his crew took care of the repairs quickly at a very reasonable cost. He always returned calls promptly and explained the issues clearly. During the repair process the radiator was accidentally damaged and Ryan replaced it at no charge with one that was better quality! The above repairs were done in 2015, one year later and another 2K miles and my truck is still running beautifully. Much like another reviewer I had mixed experience with the boutique independent with the nice waiting room and the B & J excellent adventure.
