Came here with a friend, her sister-in-law, and her mom for gel manicures and pedicures during our weekend trip to Virginia. My gel-fill manicure was really not great considering how much it cost. The length, shape and thickness of my nails were all different, and there was not once when she asked me if I was happy with how they were looking. Besides that, it didn't seem like she knew how to (or cared to) apply the liquid gel; normally nail techs would apply TWO layers of liquid gel with cure time in between, however she did One thin layer on some nails and gloppy thick layers on others. On top of that she had nicked my flesh whilst trying to cut my cuticles with her electric file. I had chosen a shellac colour on top of the liquid-gel fill, she applied it messily and got air bubbles trapped inside multiple nails. Not only did it not come out good, she had also Not mentioned that shellac colours would be an ADDITIONAL $20! My friend got charged extra because the nail tech told her that her liquid gel was 'lifting', therefore removed them and redid them, but did not forewarn her that it would cost an extra $5 per nail. Had she known that it would cost extra, she might not have wanted to get them removed, but shouldn't that be the customer's decision? The main problem that we had was the lack of clarity, in regards to price, they were able to provide prior to the services we asked for. We were given a lump sum of our services, and were slightly thrown off by the price of each service because they were not stated clearly- by word of mouth nor in writing. It almost seemed as though they were making up prices as they pleased. I personally would not go back to this place again. The salon is clean and decor is nice, but when you're used to paying a little less and get better services elsewhere, its not worth it. read more

Did a walk-in after a meeting took me to VA. Got a gel manicure and pedicure. It's new, clean, quiet and relatively inexpensive compared to DC prices ($50 for gel mani + pedi). Lots of brand new OPI gel colors with matching polish for toes which I prefer over random, no-name polish brands. Offered water and soft drinks. Good, comfy pedi chairs. Friendly, but not overly chatty technicians. I took one star off because I did get nipped with the cuticle scissors, but she apologized and put some antiseptic on it right away. I usually just get my cuticles pushed back and only cut them every other manicure or so. Some states don't even allow cuticle cutting for that very reason so it's a risk that I took letting the manicurist put scissors to my skin. I'd def go back if I'm in the neighborhood, but cuticle push back only. read more

They changed there pedicure price from $25 to $27 because they started to use liners, which I understand, but the whole time I was being pressured into opting for the more expensive spa pedicure, which I did not want. After I said no the quality of my visit went down hill. The pedicurist stop speaking to me and even clipped my nails without asking, which ending up which them being too short, crooked and painful to walk on. I'm very disappointed because I had great experiences prior. I will not be going back! They should not give bad service because the client does not want to upgrade on a service. read more

I had stopped in with a friend to get a set put on. They were busy, but they had a person available. They started with mine, but didn't have anyone for my friend even though they said they did. She already had a set and needed to soak hers. She kept asking my tech about soaking and they wouldn't start that for her. My set was put on at rush speed and the size, length, color, and everything else was horrific! The nails were so thick, never thinned them out. They weren't polished all over especially on the sides. The filing was so crooked and all lengths were different. Cuticles were not pushed back. It was appalling. When they finally got to my friend to soak hers, I was almost finished. She ended up filing her own because the lady did such a poor job. I will never go back to them again. read more

I came in for a spa pedicure, they take my temperature (understandable considering the paranoia with a virus with a 1.8% fatality rate to at risk people). I have mild psoriasis on my lower leg. So the owner, has me sign a waiver, and then tells me, "you have an infection on your leg!". I conveyed to she that is psoriasis and that it's very common, and I have never had a problem getting pedicures before. She responded with, then we just cut your toe nails, that's it. So I said, well I guess that's a lower price since I can cut my toe nails myself. Her answer was classic, "no no no very sorry, you pay full price, this is business". So much for wanting to Help a local economy. Very bad business practices!!!! We will do 5% of service and charge you full price Avoid at all costs, went to cozy nails and spa in olde town, no issues, they took me right in and I gave them a 100% tip. I've been following Christine since 2007. I have never had a bad experience with her. I've recommended a number of my friends to her, which are still seeing here. I understand that everyone's experience is different, but I've read some comments that say the techs shouldn't use their native language. My question is, has anyone asked you to stop speaking English? No? Thought so! That is the stupid thing I've ever heard. It takes a special kind of person to say such a thing - the not so secure in who they are kind of person. I hear that therapy helps. The techs at this shop are all professionals. The woman who did ADetectiveF nails also did my nails...She was nasty, never even said "hello" and I could overlook that if she did a good job. She barely touched my feet. Massage? What massage? Today was my last visit to this place. I have been several times, and each time the customer service is horrible. I went for a mani/pedi, and actually take time to select my colors - more than usual. Today a technician helped me pick my color and things were looking good. I sit down for my manicure and in the middle of my service, the client next to me, who asked for a french, all of a sudden wants the color I selected. Her technician takes it and says, " She is ready first." and my technician lets her take it. I asked, "Are you going to make me select a new color?" No response from my technician. So I washed my hands and left. I really find it disturbing to spend my hard earned money in establishments that do not respect me as a customer. Had a mani and pedi with gel polish. It was meh. Pedi wasn't anything to rave about I guess I should've went for the spa pedi instead. I had her retouch one of the toe nail polish because the polish bubbles although she blamed me for messing it up although the bubble was within the polish. The gel polish was a little uneven on the middle finger when she applied it one side was a little thicker than the other. The salon is spacious and clean. The staff is over all friendly and helpful. I like the huge selection of gel color. The price is reasonable for a gel manicure is 30 bucks. Compare to some salons in Alexandria is 35. Definitely come back. read more

I have been here twice and each time I was left disappointed and upset. I have been one for a pedicure and once for a manicure. Each time they rushed me and barley did massages. My manicure is streaky and you can see the lines of each coat because the lady took no attention to detail or gave any tlc. If you go, ask for Susan Kim, she does my mom's acrilic nails and each time they are beautiful! I believe she is the best there. If you are looking for a GOOD, affordable manicure, go to VIP Nails. If you are looking for a good pedicure go to Rose Paradise Spa. Rose is a little more pricey but they give great massages and the workers are so kind. read more

I decided to try a new place for my nails yesterday and chose here. I am not sure I'll be back. The wait wasn't long and the salon was clean. I really liked that they use the disposable liners for the pedicure but the pedicure itself wasn't great. I chose the spa pedicure which is a step above the regular. There's barely any foot or leg massage which is part of the reason for a pedi. The woman who did my nails never introduced herself so I have no idea of the name, the only thing she said to me the whole time was to try to talk me into getting a gel manicure instead of regular. Also you go to get a mani-pedi to relax and there was a woman on speaker phone arguing with UPS/Amazon very loudly for at least 30 minutes of my visit. I feel that she should have been asked to either hang up or keep it down. All in all not a great experience. read more

This salon is close to my house and so I decided I would try it out. I went in two weeks ago for a Pedicure. They took my mom and I right away. I got the "Spa pedicure", which included exfoliation and a mud mask with hot towels for your legs. The salon was very cleanly and the staff were friendly. They also had a wide variety of colors to choose from. The price reflected the quality of the work. I think it ended up being around $32. I decided I wanted to go this past weekend for a gel manicure. I was helped right away and thought she did an amazing job. She took her time and my nails look great! The only complaint I have is that the "massage" part of the manicure was short lived and not very enjoyable. The price for the gel manicure was $30. I got a full set and a pedicure. Pedicure was fine no problems. The full set though... the shape, length, and thickness is inconsistent on each nail. She kept hurting me, I told her three times that she was drilling my nail bed too much, she drilled to the soft part of my nail... not fun. She said she had to keep doing it or my nail would turn green... omg what? Then I paid extra for gel and it smudged 30 mins after I left, gel isn't supposed to do that right? I'm visiting my friend and we decided to have a mani pedi. There were 3 of us and only two of us were doing a mani first. My other friend was sitting in one of the unoccupied chairs to wait on us so that we all can get our pedis together. One of the workers rudely spoke in Vietnamese asking why was my friend sitting in that chair? (There was not anywhere else to sit in the salon). I had the laziest mani ever. My cuticles were barely cut, my nails were filed crooked and slanted. AND even after asking the lady to paint my corners, my corners were NOT painted. Usually with a mani, they massage your hand. Don't expect that at this salon. Next we all went to sit to have our pedicures. My massage chair was not working so I asked my friend to push the buttons on the chair since my nails were still wet. One of the workers said in Vietnamese, "that girl is so high maintenance and fussy!" I am Vietnamese so I responded by asking her in viet why she was talking crap about me?!?! She proceeded to deny it and told me I didn't hear her right. Both my friend and I are viet and we understand and speak viet clearly. Yet she nor any of the workers apologized and didn't want to provide the owner's contact. This had to have been the worst experience at a nails salon. And on top of the bad experience, my nails and toes look horrible! In order to post this review I had to push at least one star. Will never go back!! I will say that the quality of my nail polish was excellent. It is clean and beautiful. However, I have serious concerns about my safety and the fact that the staff argue with their customers over pricing. Here's what happened. A group of women had a misunderstanding with the pricing. The employees (all of them) argued loudly (yelling from all areas of the salon, while doing manis and pedis) with these women for over 20 minutes. Regardless of who was right (but it was the customers in my opinion and based on what was being shouted), the ruckus made my manicure and pedicure NOT relaxing. When other customers became tired of the noise, they customers asked that they settle down. The customers who were disputing the cost were offended and began harassing a couple customers- in their face & shouting profanity at them. When the staff was told several times to call the police, they absolutely refused and a customer ended up doing it. I have serious concerns about my safety when the staffing will escalate their customers to this point of aggravation, neglect awareness of how the atmosphere is for their other customers, and even worse will not call law enforcement when it is needed. read more

This is one of the best nail salons I've ever been to. The staff is friendly and very accomodating. The facility is always clean and well organized, and I never have to wait long for service. I normally request Susan to do my nails, and she does the best gel manicure for my natural nails out of any place I've been. It's always neat and long lasting. I decided to try a new place to get my nails done. tried this place "You got nails" because it is very close to where I live. For the start a lady told me to choose a color in a very unfriendly way. A few minutes later a technician approached me and said something I did not understand. Than she signed me to follow her. She never introduced herself, just told me to sit down. Thew a little menu on my lap to choose what I want to have done. What weird is that??? She did not soak my feet and started working on it. VERY POOR job removing cuticles and get my feet clean. She did not open her moth the whole time but to talk me into getting a gel manicure instead of a regular. When she finish applying the color I noticed that there not all the grown cuticles were not removed and the color did not cover the whole nails. All the edges were missing polish. I went here and only had 40 minutes. The woman at the counter said it would be 15 minutes. After about 5 they sat me in the back filled the tub with room temp water. I asked her to warm it up, but at that point it was nearly full. Anyhow, sat here with my feet in room temp water that was starting to get cold, for 25 minutes, and still no tech to help me. So I had to get up and leave. Can't speak to the quality of service, but I will say it wasn't at all crowded and people were waiting. It's Saturday, 11:30, they were clearly understaffed. 3rd time going there and once again disappointed. This time I took my own premium OPI polish including base and top coat. I thought maybe I should upgrade to a spa pedi and see if the service is better. While the technician was sweet, I disliked that the entire time she was in conversation with another worker... One of my biggest turnoffs when I go anywhere for personal service. Doesn't matter if they are speaking another language or one I am familiar with, it is just plain rude to be having a full blown conversation across the room while tending to someone! My nails are shaped unevenly and there is nail polish all over my skin! Pretty sure I could have done a better job. I have learned my lesson after 3 visits. I went there today for a pedicure with my husband. I wish I had gotten the techs name but I'm extremely upset. She started off by soaking my feet but didn't even put "soap" or whatever it is they put in the water. She was rushing the whole time during my pedicure, especially when she was cutting my cuticles. She ended up cutting my cuticle on my left big toe & it was visibly bleeding. I had to ASK her to clean my bleeding toe & TELL her to put a disinfectant because all she did was clean it with alcohol. She also cut my right big toe CROOKED & short. She wanted to file the other side down & I told her no. She offered to put acrylic on my toe but didn't file it down all the way to make it even, leaving my toenail with a big lump on the side of my nail. I had to tell her to file & buff it down more than once bc I don't really think she understood me. I've been to this place multiple times and I usually go to Christine but since she's on vacation, I went ahead & saw someone else. Never again will I be back. First you cut my cuticles & make my toe bleed, then cut my nail super short & crooked. Also, later I come home & I notice my LEFT toenail is cracked! How?!?! I stopped in one evening and was seen right away which was nice. The place was clean if somewhat underwhelming. Their instruments came in a sealed sterilization pouch unlike other places I've visited. A man did my gel manicure, he didn't talk much but I was ok with that since I was tired anyway. But here's the reason I'm only giving them 2 stars...a gel manicure on me usually lasts a minimum of 2 weeks. After 2 days I had a chip in 2 of my nails. The polish was splotchy and didn't cover my entire nail. I had the top coat all over the tips of my fingers and now, a little over a week later, the polish is lifting up by my cuticles AND my cuticles look like they were never touched. Oh, and he cut me. So I just moved back to Alexandria after living in Woodbridge for 2 years. I decided to check out this nail salon since it's the closest shop to my house. WORST DECISION EVER!! My nail tech cut me with one of the tools and then had the nerve to put alcohol on my finger afterwards. Can anyone say ouch?! It stings you idiot!! And she never apologized either. I had to keep reminding her that I wanted my nails cut which she finally did. After she tried to offer me every other service (eyebrow wax, lip wax, and pedicure) except concentrating on what I came to have done, I know in my bones that she was talking about me in her language to the nail tech sitting next to her. How did I know? Well every time my nail tech said something the other nail tech would look at me and then look away real quick. After the worst customer service experience ever this idiot left my gel nails looking thick (and fake!) and every nail has that white flaky look around my cuticles. Cuticle oil alert!!! Where did you get your training, Dear?? The only thing that made me feel good is that I could leave this horrible shop and NOT leave her a tip. I'll never forget the shocked look on her face when I immediately closed my wallet after she gave me back my card and put it in my purse and just left. This place will NEVER get my business again. Oh yeah and I had a pedi at this place 2 weeks before today's nail debacle and my heels were still hard and the lady (the owner I believe!) painted like a 6 year old on crack. My pedicure looks like a five year old did it, the nail tech left my pant legs rolled up, there is gel polish under my fingernails, and both the color and top coat are uneven on finger and toe nails. In addition to doing a crappy job the nail tech decided to include her tip when I paid, according to their menu the cost of a pedicure is $25 and the cost of a pedicure is $30, that adds up to $55 not $60.
