Not really sure what the hype is about this place. I see what everyone reviewed, but coming from LA where it's the home to Korean bbq, the review here are misleading because there are so many good reviews but the reality is - it is the worst KBBQ I've ever had in my life. The beef is not fresh, nor is it the best cut. Once on grill, it's dry, unflavored, and their seasoning are basic seasoning you see at a diner. Soy sauce, salt, and chili. Their marinated kimchi, seaweed and soybean sprouts are not really flavored and just tasted boiled and watered. Their steam egg was burnt, the spicy tofu soup was chopped tofu, with ketchup and siracha. As someone who is a Yelp elite and also go to various Korean bbq places outside at middle of no where. I'd rate this place a 0/10 if I get the chance. The servers don't really check up on you. They play country music and the lights are so bright it's awkward. The men bathroom looked like it hasn't passed the public health code for a few years now and truamatizing. Would not recommend anyone who knows kbbq to come here. It's awful. CHECK YOUR BILL!!!! So they tried to charge me for a kid who was under 3. Then they tried to charge me for the 36.99 when we did the 30.99. They tried to say they were having issues with removing the child and it kept charging me but they charged an extra 45 which they credited it and the. Charged the correct amount. Just ok. I had been to a couple other Yiu Grill Korean BBQ locations and had a better experience. We ordered the All-You-Can-Eat 'A' menu. Right off the bat, they said they were already out of rice paper and do not offer Daikon radish. The grill looked like a 'Hot Pot' (boiling water) under the grill, so basically it wasn't BBQ it was steamed hot plate. The meat turned out OK, not grilled, but ok. For any Korean BBQ, the service can be tricky. Most places have thier staff running around and all staff cover each other. Here, it took about 8 minutes before someone come over to the front, (where it says wait to be seated), to be put on a waiting list. They said about a 20-minute wait, but it was closer to 40-minutes. The ambiance looked like it was more catered to the Hot Pot, rather than the grill cooking, meaning most of the tables I saw were the Hot Pot underneath the grill. We went with the $30.99 AYCE option, plus I grabbed an orange juice for four bucks. Worth it. Our server was genuinely great--attentive without hovering, checked on us often, and made sure we understood how everything worked. That alone already set the tone for the visit. Food-wise, everything felt light and easy to eat. I tried the Hawaiian chicken, the garlic chicken, some beef, and a few other cuts since there were three of us and sharing made it way easier to try different things. This was my first time visiting a place like this, and I was honestly blown away. Here's how it works: they seat you at a table with a grill in the center, turn it on, and then bring out whatever meats you choose from the menu. I recommend ordering no more than one dish per person, since the portions can be pretty big. Here's what we got: - Angus Beef Brisket - very thin slices, cooks super fast, but not seasoned, so you definitely want to dip it in the sauce. - Spicy Pork Belly - a must for anyone who loves spicy food. Incredibly good! - Spicy Korean Chicken - also great, moderately spicy. The pieces are thick, so you either grill them longer or cut them up first. - Hawaiian Chicken - unusual flavor, large pieces, defintely need to cut them. - Garlic Chicken - we didn't love this one; couldn't really taste the garlic. - Miso Soup - we ordered it before the main dishes, and I highly recommend doing the same. It was really good here. - Ice Cream - only three flavors: caramel, vanilla, and strawberry. We tried all of them, and I'm not sure if they buy it or or make it in-house, but it was surprsingly good. The service deserves a special shoutout - they kept refilling our drinks, checked in often to see what we wanted next, and even swapped out the metal grill plate when it started getting burnt, which happens pretty fast. Honestly, I probably should've read the writing on the wall - good kbbq at Indian Wells? But we gave it a chance. For meats, we ordered the beef briskets, beef belly, beef short ribs, bulgogi. And a side of rice, miso, and steamed egg. The first bite of brisket tasted spoiled. I thought it was just me but the three with me also felt it tasted like it wasn't stored properly. Ok, maybe a one-off. So we cooked the bulgogi, and both texture and taste were off as well (albeit not as bad as the brisket). We then tried the short ribs - much better taste than the former two but still not hitting it. We didn't even try the beef belly. And then left. The steamed egg didn't have any flavor. But at least they added more water to their long-grain rice do it's not very typical. Otherwise, I would have hated it, having the rice dancing all over my mouth...where the sticky ones doesn't. We walked in 4 tables were dirty with food and employees were standing around. we ordered the bulgogi and it was dry and had a weird taste to it. I came here last year with co-workers, we were attending the a conference in the area. Although you can't really mess up Korean BBQ. I feel like this place is directed at tourist. The meat cuts were mediocre at best. The corn cheese alone was disappointing. I think what made it worse was the fact that their A/C was not working in the middle of summer. I think the young people like all you can eat for 29.95. At first we were not happy with the brown and wilted salad they plopped down with the kimchee, seaweed salad , and something that tasted fishy. We sent it all away. However, the meats were pretty good and we really enjoyed the veggies. The ice cream was really good too. I also liked the pot stickers. For the desert I guess were just happy to have some ethnic places to go. To make the meats better it would have been nice to have some seasoning on each one. We were actually excited and really looking forward to it. We were able to seat as soon as we arrived and service was great. The place was clean and spacious. Side dishes on the other hand such as rice paper, cucumbers, and other items were either not available or they didn't carry. The meat options were different and limited. Bulging Meat was too thick, teriyaki chicken lacked flavor, as for the rest of the dishes that followed. Rice was not sticky... and needless to say, it was a quick visit. Wait was as expected for a spot with great food. We waited slightly over 30 minutes, which isn't really much to moan about during peak hours. We were initially seated in a cramped area where our baby was left out due to her high chair not fitting. It was recognized right away and it was remedied as quickly as they realistically could. The staff is quite friendly and are quick to greet you upon arrival. It's pretty spacious despite your walk in literally leading you to the center of the restaurant where all eyes are on you when you wait for a table, but we were glad to find a KBBQ out in the desert. It was a little busy so we had to wait about 30 mins (we decided to go to Dutch bros for the time being), but when it was time to come in we were seated and taken care of right away. The staff and their service are quick and we had multiple workers come to either drop off food, take our orders, or just take things off our table. If I could give the staff and service 5 stars, I would. Unfortunately, the 2 stars in this review today will have to solely go towards the quality of the meat in accordance to how much we paid for this meal. You get to decide between two sets, Set A at $30 and Set B at $40*~. The difference between the sets is the types of AYCE meat you can order. I'm a pork belly girl whereas my friends and boyfriend at this moment were Brisket lovers. We ordered brisket and pork belly. I also added corn cheese because why not! Right away came out the Bonchon which consisted of fish cake, kimchee, mung beans, and a salad. The meats were cut and portioned to an appropriate size when they came out. The grill was hot and fiery however there wasn't much vacuum for the smoke so we teeter tottered between making the heat high and low because of the smoke. So how was it? I hate to say it but once you've tasted better, it's hard to tolerate mediocre. We were hungry and in the middle of no where so we ate what we ordered, but truthfully I've just had better. The kimchee tasted a little different and the sides were pretty bland. As for the meat, they were either too rubbery once cooked or you could just taste how they were previously frozen and defrosted right away. The sauces that were given out helped to carry the meat but again...it's hard to tolerate something when you have tasted it at a higher expectation. The $30.99 has the extra beef tongue and Kalbi (short ribs) and everything else from the $26.99 menu. Brisket, other beef, 2-3 different pork bellies, chicken, seafood, etc. Service was actually really good. The blonde lady was super cool, she stopped by our table a lot to check if we needed more meats, drinks, and sides. They stopped by to change our grill a couple of times without us having to ask them. The garlic pork belly, Bulgogi, and brisket were fresh and what we mainly ordered. Kim chi was good. This spot is NOT good or quality KBBQ, having come from SoCal, I understand that expectations are high, but I truly think the high ratings of this establishment is on the basis of people being nuanced to the concept of cooking your own food and the AYCE format. There were several things that typically occur at KBBQ that this place is not up to date with. For example, no oil was provided for the salt and the workers stated that there is no rice paper offered. Regardless of these missing factors, which may be preferred by management etc., one would hope the food quality would override these losses. Unfortunately not. The Bulgogi, which is a staple and typically hard to mess up, was EXTREMELY dry, and simply soaked in soy sauce, no indication of sweetness or quality marinade, juuuuust soy sauce. Honestly all the meats were fairly lackluster and by the end of it, we didn't finish because we were stuffed, but more so because we genuinely couldn't bare the tastes anymore. read more
