First time trying poke out here in the valley. Lived in OC prior so, there are many poke places to chose from out there. So trying this place out was a good surprise. The bowl and the mixture of the sauces we put in was great. Don't really have to add extra sauce even though we did ask for more on the side. Granted for over $20; we also got avocado, $2. I feel the price is a tad bit much for one bowl, compared to my favorite places in oc I've been too where for that price you can get more scoops of protein plus the bowl and portions are slightly bigger. The place was clean and service was good. People came in and out to order , but no one sat and ate there except for us. I don't drink anymore but if I did, I would've liked the fact that they sold adult beverages, including sake. So if you want a drink with your meal . It's a good place to go for convenience I guess. Would go back again if I'm really in the mood if not I can wait for when I leave town. But for the valley I recommend. It was good and didn't disappoint.

This place has been my go to since before I moved away from the valley. The portions are always very generous and the service is fast and efficient. My go to bowl is half white rice, half mixed greens, tomato, carrots, kelp noodles, cucumbers, double shrimp, ginger, corn, mango, double crab salad and crispy garlic. For sauces I get the Hana dressing and top it off with eel sauce and spicy mayo. So so good. As of recent they started to charge for double scoops of anything which I suppose is reasonable with everything going up in price.

Build your own. This was like sushi in a bowl. It was so tasty! Highly recommend!

Service was pretty bad. Guy looked like he didn't want to be there. Didn't really feel welcoming....I felt very rushed when ordering and I was the first and only customer there right at opening. I was asking for toppings like veggies and the protein and before I could finish at each section he was moving onto the next section. And when I asked for the receipt he just threw it aggressively in my bag and didn't hand it to me or even say thank you or anything. I was very shocked. The name on the receipt said Giovanni. Hopefully he works on his attitude and provides nicer customer service. Portions for a large were super small for the price.

This bowl is massive! - $15

Bummed to see this place change owners. Always have looked forward coming here but quality, cleanliness, and vibes have gone down. Also the check in deal is no longer accepted though it appears on this page.

We ordered take out on a Sunday night. We didn't want anything heavy so we thought by getting a poke bowl would suffice. Yikes, these bowls are huge. You have the option to order one of their speciality bowls or you can make your own poke bowl. We opted to order their speciality bowls since it's a better bang for your buck. I ordered the Salmon Tuna Maika'i and my husband ordered the Tuna. You can customize your bowl with the toppings provided. I enjoy both salmon and tuna so I was excited to get this mix along with brown rice, fried garlic pieces, mango, edamame, avocado - among other toppings. My husband got the tuna with brown rice, avocado, crab salad- among other toppings as well. I really enjoyed both bowls. I felt the ingredients were fresh with lots of texture. I guess my personal preference is to have my toppings separate. I don't care for my warm rice with lots of cold items all around and I especially do not like cold rice. If I was able to have my rice separately then I would have loved the dish more. I wish there were more fish pieces also. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our poke bowls. Although the price was a bit steep (almost $40 for 2 bowls), it was a nice change to have poke as an option in the desert.

So much goodness filled in a bowl!

Wow! I didn't expect to find such delicious, high quality poke in the middle of the desert! I was in the area and saw the reviews, so I decided to try it out. My partner and I shared a large poke bowl, which comes with 3 heaping scoops of fish. For your base, you can pick white rice, brown rice, spring mix, or a combo of those. After choosing your protein, you chose your sauce and select toppings, and then they mix it all together. Then you can add more toppings. So we ordered from here two days in a row, and we were about to go for a third day before we left the area, but unfortunately they weren't open early enough for us. The proteins I tried were salmon, ahi tuna, and spicy tuna. Surprisingly, the spicy tuna was my favorite because it was flavorful and had good texture. As for the base, we had brown rice for our first bowl, and I'm glad they didn't scoop a crazy amount of rice. In fact, they put less than I expected and I really enjoyed it. We ordered all of the non-premium toppings. Off the top of my head, I remembered having corn, edamame, crab salad, seaweed salad, pickled ginger, crispy onions, mango, kelp noodles, furikake. I liked the crab salad because it seemed like they shredded them very thinly. I actually tried to replicate that thin crab salad at home but I couldn't get it as thin...the texture definitely makes a difference! I also really enjoyed the kelp noodles because it was kind of crunchy. I appreciated that the mango was fresh tasting, but I wouldn't get it again in my poke bowl. Overall, the bowl was overflowing with toppings and they didn't skimp! The food was literally up to the top of the lid. For the second bowl, we had white rice and they gave us a bit more than the first bowl, but I appreciated that they patted the rice down to make room for the other toppings. I wasn't as much of a fan of the white rice because it was kind of mushy. This time, we ordered similar toppings as listed above, but omitted the mango. We also requested the lotus chips since that was listed on their to-go menu, but we didn't see it on display. I really liked the lotus chips and it was a nice touch! Again, they really hooked it up with the food. Don't forget to check in on Yelp and get $1 off your purchase. Service was friendly and it was just extra awesome that they give generous portions! You must come here if you're in the area!

Delicious bowl! I did a choose your own deal and it was a good choice. They have a lot of options and everything looked very fresh. I like when they have veggies and crunchy garlic and onions. They have many options, lots of sauces to choose from. The portion was generous and they happily gave me lots of sauce on the side. The kids working there were very sweet. It was about $20 for a small bowl with tax and tip. Standard pricing for a poke bowl these days. The fish was tasty and good quality. I had the tuna and salmon, looked the freshest. I was happy with all of it.

Poke was average, nothing special. Plenty of topping options! If wanting a quick bite, I'd stop by again. But it's not a top pick for food.

Hi. Do you have a menu for people who doesnt eat any type of animal products? I know its a strange question for a japanese resto.

I am going to Pokehana this weekend with some friends. I don't like fish. Any recommendations on what to get?

Hey Briana, good question. We have two options for proteins that are not fish which are Tofu and Coconut meat. The they are both great options if you happen to not eat anything meat or raw fish and the Coconut meat really absorbs all the flavors… Read more

Usually they should bring the appetizers, rolls and then entree... they brought them out in whatever order. One appetizer arrived followed by an entree, 2 rolls and then the soup and salad that was included with the entree. The edamame arrived almost to the end of the meal and I honestly should have sent it back bc who eats that at the end of a meal? Nothing against the chefs but it shows inexperienced wait staff. The food though was amazing! The rolls are HUGE! We ordered way too much so we took almost 2 rolls home! The tuna tower was amazing but I wish it came with some wonton strips or something to add crunch/texture. They use a green and red crispy crunch on their rolls which was sooo good! Overall the amazing food makes up for the average service.

Once we got food there was no check ins to see if everything was ok if if more drinks were needed. We had to flag down a person that was not our server. While the presentations of our dishes were fun the flavor was just lacking in the fish. The music was a bit loud and playing 80's pop like Madonna and Michael Jackson. Little odd for a sushi restaurant. Side note there tempura rolls we saw that were coming out looked fun. The rolls were quite big for each of their cuts, makes it hard for a one piece bite. I'd say if you like big rolls for filling purposes give them a go. May try again if we are back in La Quinta for the previous reviews on the place. Maybe we're were of a night (Friday night BTW).

Rich, complex, and seriously flavorful. Word to the wise: stick with level 2 spice and order extra on the side. I've tried level 3, and unless you're looking for a serious heat challenge, level 2 gives you all the flavor without destroying your taste buds. Best part? They include a full egg in every bowl at no extra charge. Most places upcharge for that. They also offer variety beyond standard pork broth, including a solid vegetarian option. Service is attentive without hovering, prices are fair for generous portions, and the modern vibe with newer music beats the typical ramen house atmosphere. This spot fills a real gap in the desert dining scene. Definitely adding it to my regular rotation!

The atmosphere is clean, focused, and elevated without trying too hard. From the moment you walk in, everything flows the way it should. The food is exactly what you expect from Nobu. High quality, fresh, and consistent. The fish is clean, the flavors are balanced, and everything is presented the right way. You can tell there's attention to detail across the board. What makes this location better for me is the overall experience. It feels more complete. Service, timing, energy in the room, it all comes together better than other locations I've been to. Coronado has the ocean and the historic setting, which is great, but Indian Wells just executes at a higher level. If I had to rate it, this is a 5 out of 5 for me, and the one I'd choose to go back to first. If you're in the area, don't overthink it. This is the Nobu to go to.

Would rather hold out for better sushi options than settle for someplace that's just average. For context solid sushi spots in the desert are hard to come by, understandably. La Quinta actually has two of my favorites BUT they are only open for dinner hours. So I've been on the search for solid sushi spots that have lunch hours. Being that Sam's Sushi was open for lunch and has moderate reviews, thought that they were worth a try. The ambiance of the spot is basic. There was a proper sushi bar which I could appreciate and the restaurant was spacious. My biggest issues were cleanliness and freshness. The tables weren't clean enough for my preference (soy sauce containers were sticky and the plate they sit on hadn't been cleaned for a while). Also I found the temperature inside to be a little too warm, which is always a red flag to me when dealing with seafood. The reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2 stars is the staff were friendly. Despite being busy they had me seated quickly and also food was at a good pace. One of my drinks was forgotten by the server but he was kind and apologized about it, so not a big deal. As again, they were busy. Overall the reason for the lower review is primarily for the food and quality. I ordered a $25 bento box (not quite trusting or committing to larger sushi rolls) and was still underwhelmed. The best part of my meal was the miso soup and California roll. The California roll was average but tasty. However, the other two box options were meh. The mixed tempura had hits and misses. Tempura shrimp was decent. However, the veggies were too thick - so the batter to veggie ratio was off. Still edible though. The bummer with the bento box was the sushi and salad. Salad had barely any dressing, and not the tasty ginger or sesame dressing that most have - the dressing was so minimal I couldn't even tell you what it was. Also the sushi just didn't taste fresh. The ebi was fine but usually I wouldn't choose this for sushi. The salmon was edible but not super fresh and the yellowtail was stringy and I couldn't eat it. For $25 the plate looked appealing but lacked good flavor/execution. Overall, the place was busy so I'm hopeful they have a good following with locals and I saw a lot of professionals here for a quick lunch break. I just think there are substantially better sushi spots in the desert...I'm spoiled and have lots of good sushi spots at home that this spot wouldn't be one I'd be eager to come to again soon.
