I've never had them like that before anywhere, so it's definitely a chefs special. They were made crispy on the outside but soft and flavorful on the inside. Highly recommend. All the other dishes were also fantastic. Portions are also great, we ended up taking lots home. They gave us free dessert jellies which is also a classic Sichuan dessert; they also had a deal where you get free drinks if you order a certain amount of food, so we got two free drinks. I would have given a five star if not for the super long wait. Granted we did go for Christmas Day dinner. We saw them having to turn away lots of customers. They are super popular. Main issue is there isn't a number system, so getting a table felt a bit random; we considered ourselves lucky. Our servers were very friendly and nice. They told us it would be a bit of a wait, but this was the longest I've ever waited for food: 45 min before the first dish was served. We ordered 5 dishes with rice (forgot to take pictures of two of them). I wasn't told one of the dishes I ordered wasn't available until 30 min after I placed my order. But when the food did come, they all can't together so we didn't have to keep waiting. The servers were also attentive after despite how busy and clearly overwhelmed they were, which was really nice. In conclusion, great food with good portions for spice lovers. Very nice servers and try not to go on Christmas Day since it can get really busy.

Went to the no frills quick take it section that provides seating if you wish to dine in. I didn't check out the menu since I already had in mind what I wanted to order by word of mouth. Decided to eat in-ordered the lamp soup. Apparently you have 2 choices-one with just meat and one with meat and a mix of internals. I opted for the second one. I don't eat much lamp at home. The soup is light. I definitely needed some salt but they probably keep it this way so everyone can adjust the saltiness to his or her own preference. Each soup comes with a freshly made bin (Chinese bread). I have heard from a friend that the bin is amazing especially when it just comes out fresh from the oven. They offer hot sauce on the table so I used it for dipping the meat from the soup. One downfall is I'm one of those people who think cilantro tastes like soap water and didn't realize they would top the soup off with a bunch of cilantro so I spent a good amount of time trying to pick them all out. The buns here are literally famous-maybe for the price. I do heat it sells out quite often. 6 for $5 is a good deal. I ordered the pork one to go and tried one when I got home. Great texture and the filling was very tasty. I've tried the vegetarian one on a previous occasion and I prefer the pork one. If you dine, they have an app station where they offer two cold dishes. I see people taking huge plates of the marinated shredded potato and they kept going back for me so I asked the lady if I could take some to make sure it's free and she said sure. I took a little of each to try. The shredded potato was actually amazing. Very addicting to eat and the texture had a little crunch to it.
