Steamed whole fish with black beans, scallions, and ginger
    Nelson E.

Grand Sichuan in Rego Park hits a nice balance -- they've got all the familiar American-Chinese classics, but the real draw is their more authentic Sichuan and traditional Chinese dishes. After a couple of good takeout experiences, I finally ate in. The twice-cooked pork was excellent -- tender, flavorful, and just spicy enough. The sautéed spinach was perfectly done with garlic, fresh and light. The steamed whole fish with black beans really stood out -- delicate, full of flavor, and cooked beautifully. The dining room is small but well-run, and the staff were friendly and genuinely appreciative. The crowd was a nice mix of Asian and American regulars, which says a lot. If you stick to the authentic side of the menu, you'll eat very well here. A solid neighborhood spot that doesn't disappoint.

The last time I came here was in 2019. I had no idea. I stated that it was missing something and it was the lack of other dishes that I should've ordered. I did get more of a variety this time around. It was great.

I had a wonderful dining experience at Grand Sichuan. One of the main reasons I went was because they serve Sautéed Loofah (sponge gourd) -- a rare dish that I've never seen offered at even the most authentic Chinese restaurants in the U.S. Before placing my order, I asked the waitress whether the loofah would be bitter -- since sometimes it can be, depending on the season. She kindly explained that, according to other customers' feedback, the loofah at this time of year is not bitter. Her explanation reassured me, so I decided to go ahead and order it. And she was absolutely right -- the sautéed loofah turned out fresh, tender, and not bitter at all. I ended up ordering two dishes: * Sautéed Loofah (sponge gourd) * Chinese Vegetables with Black Mushroom Both dishes were absolutely delicious, with flavors that reminded me of authentic Chinese cooking. On top of the great food, the service was outstanding. In addition to the waitress, another waiter was patient and attentive, carefully explaining the menu to me and even showing me pictures on his phone since the menu itself didn't have photos. That extra effort helped me feel comfortable choosing the right dishes and made the whole dining experience smooth and enjoyable. I give Grand Sichuan five stars not only for the food but also for the wonderful service. I'll definitely be coming back!

we came for a late lunch during the week. The place is small, but nice to sit down and eat. Staff is very nice. The food is solid. Nothing really blew me away, but it was definitely good. I would definitely go back.

I stumbled upon this place on Yelp, it's a small but friendly restaurant. The place is clean, which is a plus. The service was fast and my waiter was Kenny, he was very friendly. I had chicken and broccoli, it was good. I had veggie lo mein which could use some kind of seasoning on it but overall I liked the food. Hot and sour soup was good. I would definitely be returning and the price is right.

I ordered some lunch take out from Grand Sichuan, the taste is very authentic and generous portion. I ordered the curry chicken, and pepper steak for my husband. Both dishes are very delicious! Service is very good as well! Ambiance is very homie, you feels like eating a heart warming meal at home. Can't wait to order more and try other stuff!

Good portions, good service, delicious spicy Sichuan dishes. I can't believe I haven't been here sooner! My friend was craving Sichuan food and heard about Grand Sichuan from someone who posted in a Taiwanese group on Facebook. And I'm SO GLAD she was craving Sichuan! We only ordered from the Sichuan menu so can't speak to the other items on the menu. It was dinner on a weeknight. The restaurant was busy with takeout orders but there were plenty of seats available for dine-in. She was craving fish in chili sauce, and I was excited to see the loofah/gourd on the menu. I hadn't had that in a long time and it went really well with the spicy dishes. We also ordered beef tendon and gui zhou chicken. (We couldn't decide which Sichuan chicken dish to order so we asked the staff for her suggestion.) The chili fish was SO GOOD that she did not want to leave any behind and somehow found room to finish the rest after we each said we were full! The portions were big so we ended up with leftovers. Wish there were more of us dining that night so that we could have ordered additional dishes to share! I posted photos that night but my review came later, so I apologize if they aren't linked to my review.

Delicious food and great service. Their location in the city was a favorite of my family's and now they're in queens!

On a busy evening, many places…read morein Flushing required a reservation or had long wait times, but Szechuan Mountain House, perfectly didn't have a long wait so we went to check it out. Starting off, the numbing szechuan chicken was my least favorite of the dishes - the pieces of chicken were really tiny and there were a lot of peppercorns. I wish they made the pieces of chicken slightly larger as it was irritating to slowly pick it out towards the end of finishing it. Now, what went well were the stone pot with the fish. Normally not a huge fan of fish, so if I can enjoy eating fish a place has done well in preparing it. The soup was really flavorful and everyone at my table enjoyed it. The sweet and sour pork was also nice. The breading was crispy and the sauce had a nice tangy flavor to it and the texture was interestingly satisfying. The grilled beef ribs and bao buns were one of my favorite. The beef rib was very tender and went well with the buns and condiments that were provided.

I've dined here with my family twice and in the most recent occasion, we came with no reservations around 2:30pm on a Sunday. All the tables were taken as they just opened at noon so we had to wait a bit. Their menu / iPad ordering system was simple to navigate and quick to place. Our table was started off with their spicy pickled cabbage, which was super addicting. I love how the spicy oil was so flavorful and the cabbage was soft and just slightly tangy. We ordered 5 dishes for our party of 5: the la-zi chicken, stir fried cabbage, grilled beef ribs, beef and mushroom bibimbap and mao xue wang. My favorites were the la-zi chicken as the diced chicken was super crispy and flavorful. The spice level and numbingness was just the right amount. Next comes the beef and mushroom bibimbap, which is mixed and served at the table. The flavors were more soy based and was very balanced. The stir fried cabbage was cooked well but the pork in the dish was extremely salty. The grilled beef ribs came with steamed baos, similar to peking duck. I enjoyed the experience and presentation but the dish was a bit boring. Toppings included a spicy hot sauce, cucumbers and scallions along with the sliced beef that was individually torched at the table. Lastly the mao xue wang is a traditional stew featuring offals and blood curds. This one had duck blood, tripe, and intestines. I was extremely disappointed by this dish as I was expecting some tofu and small pork intestines but it didn't have either. The tripe and intestines were very crunchy, wherwas the duck blood was silky and soft. The flavor was very basic mala stew and had a ton of red chili peppers. Overall I had a decent meal at Mountain house but can't help but wonder if I ordered the right things since not everything was as good as I hoped. I will mostly likely return to give their other menu items a try.

Service was lukewarm, I got my order in but the two workers inside weren't too receptive and the menu itself is kinda barebones with most of their food being a bit more than I would like to pay for so I just settled on one order of Singapore Mei Fun. After waiting 10 minutes for my food to arrive, the Singapore noodles which are usually spicy were kinda salty but it was nothing a bit of duck sauce wouldn't fix. This one order cost $17 while not the worst Singapore Mei Fun...well technically it is, even though it's not horrible but I've had much better from other places for a stable price of $12.
