I have taken my GM vehicles to this dealership and over the years I've noticed that their work has increasingly gone downhill I don't know what the problem is but GM overall its not like used to be. The service staff and people that work there are overall nice friendly and knowledgeable but the prices that they charge for repairing your vehicle's is out of this world. astronomicaI prices don't know how anybody could take their GM product to this dealership and expect not to leave broke. Terrible experience and even worse customer service I took my truck in to have my side steps installed. The tech noticed there was a recall. I told him I was hesitant because my truck had 130,000 mi on it and no problems. He said the recall was a software that handled the transmission to prevent the wheels from locking up. I decided to let them perform the recall when it's done. 3 days later I went to the horse races in my truck, started hard shifting and whining. I told them about this and they said it had nothing to do with the recall that they would go ahead and diagnose it and find charge me a $200. I said well my truck wasn't doing this before and is doing this now. It was a terrible experience and terrible customer service. All they want to do is charge you. They do not want to help. I would never have them do anything on any of my vehicles. The truck I'm talking about is 2020 GMC Denali 1 ton $80,000 truck and they won't fix the problem they created. Let me try and make the weirdest, most non-sensical comparisons of mortgage payments to car payments to put a relative monthly payment into perspective. 2. Let me hold your keys and driver's licence hostage - err, sorry, I mean "forget to give them back" so you can't leave. 3. Let me draw you a 2x2 square to optimize for payment, price, trade, etc. 4. Let me give you a low-ball offer on your trade then increase it by 40% automatically when you see it's low. 5. Let me hide $4k of additional 'value-add' fees in the price sheet and $500 of police safety monitoring features that 'are not removable." 6. Let me talk to my manager 6 times to try and "work for you." 7. Let me not answer your questions directly because it's not part of the process. I say this with a grain of salt, honestly the worst experience you can possibly imagine. If you want the used car salesman experience, look no further. If you've never experienced the gross used car salesman, then, you should at least live once to see what it's all about. Just note, that experience will cost you more money and you'll need a full bottle of Herbal Essence shampoo to feel somewhat clean again. I think what's worst is that all of these techniques that prey on less financially saavy customers. Price high, that's fine. But, at least have the integrity to stab your customers (err, potential customers) in the front vs taking advantage of them when they turn their backs. Lastly, let's not even try to imagine the number of vehicles that are lemon-like that they try to sell you as or what their service department is like. I bet both are a horror show and experience. If any customer could pull back the curtains on their service visits, I bet they'd see that they are getting taken advantage of if their service department runs anything like their sales. Most likely, it everyone is getting taken advantage of because it has the same GM who condones the type of behavior. So, buy here if you must, I'd rather pay a bit more to talk to someone who isn't explicitly trying to take advantage. read more

Classic bait & switch. I was sold a vehicle that had issues before signing paperwork (burnt-out interior lights) and I was told that it would be fixed - no worries. I also came to find that the tires were unbalanced. I took the vehicle back, and I was told by the incompetent shop that the tires needed to be replaced (I was a tire technician for a while, this isn't true) - I took the tires elsewhere and they were balanced - fixed the issue. As for the interior lights, I found the GM part number (GM84263101) $90 - - and I was told it would be $680 for that to be fixed. Which is ridiculous, it's an AC selector switch with a simple plug on the back. 9 plastic clips are holding the trim of the radio on, once that is removed there are 2 torque screws to replace the unit - Pretty wild for a shop to charge almost 3 hours of "work" for something I can fix in 15 minutes. After they had my truck for 2 days to tell me this idiotic diagnosis, my truck was returned - Muddy and with some of my personal items thrown on the floor, +10 miles on the odometer... So it seems like your tech took it on a joy ride, and then made something up about the issues. Shame because I had already diagnosed the issues, and you could've fixed them had you done what you'd been asked to do. ------- At this point, there are a few additional promises that weren't followed up on and with my most recent return trying to resolve these issues, I have been treated very poorly by multiple sales reps & other members at the Layton location. People should be very wary about the dishonesty, lack of ownership, and downright disrespectful way these amateurs choose to run this business. Hope they get what's coming to them. read more

Last week I scheduled an appointment for today at 7 am, first day they said a tech would have the time to look at the truck. I dropped the truck off last night, noted that I needed the truck to be done by 3:30 today. At 2:30 my wife nor I received a call with an update, so I called. I was told that the techs had not been able to look at any the vehicles scheduled for today they were still catching up with vehicles from yesterday. I understand being backed up but how about calling and letting people know? They knew they were a day behind before they closed yesterday. They did apologize but that does not help with my AC that still is not working, breaks that or clicking, the inconvenience of being without a vehicle today or having to pay a Lyft to take me to pick up the truck. This experience changed my whole outlook on buying a car from a dealership. I just traded in my 2008 GMC Acadia for a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. They gave me a great trade-in value (about $500 more than what I was expecting). The salesman, Jackson, helped me find exactly the kind of car I was looking for within the budget I needed. He was extremely personable, gave me lots of options, had genuine concern for what I wanted and needed, and made the entire experience easy, stress-free, and actually quite fun. I didn't intend on getting a new car today (in fact, was pretty set on this) but thanks to Jackson, I drove home in a vehicle I am absolutely ecstatic about. Finance did seem a little unorganized but they got my paperwork together and made sure everything was organized for me during the process. Although I love my truck, I will not visit this service department again. I have been lied to and put off on Any priority list. I dropped my truck off for service, and I was the one that called several times that day to get a status. Each time I was told they were working on it. At the end of the day, I called again and i was informed that they needed to keep it for the weekend and would finish on Monday. That didn't work for me, so I went and picked it up to re schedule. I found out that no One had even looked at it at all. A simple "we are backed up and won't be able to look at it today" would have been adequate. Lying to me and telling me that they were working on it all day was not! I reluctantly scheduled another appointment months later at which time I told the service writer that is was critical that they were able to get it done when scheduled. I dropped the truck off the night before, and low and behold, I got a call in the morning telling me that they would not be able to get to it for days,And I would have to drop it off the next week for a couple of days just in case they are behind. Very bad experience. I shopped on line and was quoted a price for a stock vehicle. Before making an hour drive, I called to be sure about the deal. Upon arrival, the new vehicle was dirty, the salesperson couldn't be found and I was handed off to 2 different people that weren't aware of the deal. The final numbers were thousands of $ off from the numbers quoted. The quoted price was for first responders which I didn't qualify for. They tried to bait and switch just to get me in the door. Watch this dealership's sales tactics - they are dishonest! The assistant sales manager lied to me and my wife twice when taking the order for our new truck. When asked if we could use our own financing, he responded we could bring in our own financing without affecting the price. When I asked him to put that in writing, he wrote there won't be any additional fees, and insisted that covered this. I thought he was acting funny at the time, so I asked him twice in front of my wife, and we both recall his answer because the other dealer I was considering using had insisted on using their financing. They at least were up front about it. When the vehicle was close to coming in, they told me I had to use their financing, which was 1% higher than I was finding on my own, and when I showed them what they had put in writing, they said forced financing "wasn't an additional fee". I told them we were told by the assistant sales manager we could use our own financing, and they said I didn't have that in writing! At this point I just gave up realizing if they were going to play these games, who knows what their service after the sale would be like. They were more than happy to refund my $2,000 deposit because I had negotiated a good price on the truck and this was spring 2021 so Covid was driving truck prices up. So I'm sure they took my truck and jacked the price up and sold it to someone else. Even worse, the sales person tried to convince me the truck was able to carry more payload than it was rated for. She indicated the GMC manual and sales brochures didn't tell you that the payload included a passenger in each seat of the vehicle, so the payload was actually several hundreds higher than advertised. I had already read the complete owners manual and all the sales literature available on the website and when I asked to be shown where that was in writing, of course she quit responding on that topic. With this type of tactic, they are going to get someone hurt or worse! This dealership's antics are prime examples of what give car dealers a bad name!! Took my wife's Hummer in because it would crank but not start. They told me it would be 165.00 for diagnostics. they called me 4 days later saying something about the clips that hold the wiring in place under the fuse box are broken. So I left work to see for myself. The mechanic took the fuse box off and showed me where the clip was broken, strange he was holding the small broken piece in his hand obviously he broke it trying to get it apart. They called me the next day and said GM doesnt make that part anymore and vehicle can't be fixed. then they said to come down and get it towed out of there. They said I owed 195.00 I asked why it wasn't the 165.00 they said shop fees and taxes. They never said anything about shop fees. When I received the vehicle back now there is no power to dash key is stuck in ignition and vehicle won't go in neutral. Vehicle is in worse shape then when I took it down to them. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THEN FOR ANY REPAIRS there mechanics are worthless and there customer service is terrible. oh did I mention while vehicle was there I got a text from them saying the mechanic was test driving the vehicle and when he got back they would update me, funny how do you test drive something that won't start. The old blonde lady in service distant should retire she has no clue what she's doing. They are being reported to the BBB as well as I am contacting a attorney and corporate for GM. Oh the games car dealers play. I had always thought Young had a good name in the business, and maybe they do, but they lost me as a customer today. Alex, their salesperson, was very eager and helpful and even found the truck I had been looking for. He had it brought to their Layton store Saturday morning. I was impressed that he had even put a tag on the rear view mirror saying the truck was reserved for me. I had planned on bringing my trade in that same day, but got very busy and informed him that it would be Monday morning first thing when I could get there. (Not even one business day later) He said this was fine. I assumed the truck would be there waiting on me Monday morning. All I had to do was bring in my trade and the money was already in the bank to facilitate the trade. Imagine my shock Monday morning when I get to their store, only to be told that the truck sold sometime Saturday!!! Manager Brian stepped in with Alex to do damage control. Brian reminded me of every reason I despise most car dealers. Apparently it my MY FAULT the truck had been sold and Brian added "what do you want us to do, hold the truck forever?" He was very flippant about the matter and I decided at that point I was done doing business with that automotive group. I'm not going to be treated that way. This is a review of their "service" department. I have a Buick Enclave and it has been a great car except the air conditioner has had issues. I brought the car to Young Buick GMC in Layton to have it fixed. They couldn't find the problem so they refilled the freon and sent us on our way. That was a temporary fix. We brought it back and they put dye in the ac to find leaks. They replaced a hose and rear evap core (two years ago). A month ago the ac broke again. We brought the car back to Young and they said it was the rear evap core again. They charged me $1,130 for that repair. Three weeks later my ac is broken again. Young claims to warranty their work, so I returned the car to them. They said there are leaks in the front and another part that needs to be replaced and that will be another $1,200. I asked Will in the service department what their warranty will be covering. They said none of it because they didn't do anything wrong and "how do we know these leaks aren't new?" I think any rational person can see this is part of the original problem the car was brought in for. When I asked to speak to the service manager, I was told he was gone for the day. The next day I called the service manager's direct number and Will answered. He said they would be willing to do the new repairs for 10% off. Considering the amount they overcharge for repairs at dealerships, that really isn't helpful, nor does it reflect honoring a warranty. What I would like is to speak directly to Jed, the service manager, and I would like Jed to honor their warranty for their work. read more

I brought my 2004 Escalade in for an oil change 20 June 2014. They had my car in the stall under 5 minutes. The service rep was fantastic as usual. I was on my way shortly afterwards with recommendations for 2 new tires and rear brake rotors I need to replace. He also gave me print outs of price quotes they ran for me. I've received great service since I bought my first car from Young in 1996. Young Chevrolet's service department are truly honest people who try to save you money while providing great service. WORST CAR SHOPPING EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! We had been car shopping all day every Saturday for weeks (besides having purchased many new and used cars over the last 30+ years) and have never had a worse experience. It was raining and we pulled onto their lot, rolled down the window, and asked if they had the specific model of car we were looking for available and if so, what were they asking for it. Our 4 year old was asleep in the back seat. We knew exactly what we wanted and just needed a simple answer to our question. We politely told the salesman that we didn't want to get out of the car if they didn't have anything we were interested in available. (We had been looking for weeks so we had test drove a lot and knew exactly what we wanted.) He asked us to come inside to look at options. We declined and he said he would go inside really quick to see if they had what we wanted. The salesman was nice enough up to that point but then he brought his manager out. The manager was a jerk!! They said they had a process they had to go through and that they couldn't work with us if we weren't willing to come inside and go thru their sales process. (Isn't part of sales about creating a good relationship with your customer and meeting their needs, not manipulating their questions through some "process?") The manager was aggressively demeaning to my husband and myself, telling us that if we didn't come in and test drive cars with them that we are idiots. Brought my Denali HD in for a 10,000 mi service and to have a Stabilitrack warning light checked out at 7:30 AM. Oil was changed early, then it took until 1:30 before someone even looked at the trouble code. Finally picked up my truck at 4:30 PM. I did not realize it would take you guys 9 hours to change oil, check a code, and change a wheel sensor. Terrible. Also, lady at the desk inside gave me the wrong keys! Didn't even check who I was, just gave me random keys. Glad she didn't hand out my keys to someone that wanted to upgrade. He was very friendly and did not pressure me into purchasing the truck or any of the extras. He also did a great job explaining all the extras that Young offered. He did pull a few of the usual sales tricks to try to get me to purchase extras, but wasn't obnoxious about them. Second, the truck is fantastic, but I knew that these Tacoma's are great trucks and that is why I bought it. Overall, I was okay with my experience with Young when I left all the up to a few days ago when I received a letter of adverse action from Young Automotive. I was puzzled because I had arranged my own financing with my credit union and I told them several times, both Brian and two finance managers. I then checked my credit report and sure enough they pulled my credit. When I came in to pick up my plates I asked them about the credit pull and the finance manager gave several different explanations that did not make sense because I had arranged my own financing. He then went in back and came back with a copy of paperwork that he did not let me read and said that gives me the right to pull your credit. I told him that was in the paperwork with the purchase agreement that I had to sign and his response walking away was, "What, you don't read what you sign?" and went in his office. Had the oil and filter changed, tires rotated, transmission flushed, and a complete fuel system service on Oct. 19, 2018. While we were on a trip on Oct.26, the " change oil soon" alarm came on.I then looked at the sticker which read 8/11/2018 and 86,010 miles. Now did we get the service done we paid for or not? We stopped by the service dept. to quiz our service writer Linda, but she was busy and went to the next one,Will. We expressed our concerns about the service we paid for was really done.Now you want to talk about a guy that went on the defense and his reply was " well, what do you want me to do about it? Everything went downhill from there. Finally, I said I don't give a s!@# and said we will take the car somewhere else. Will's response was "go ahead, I don't care". Finally, we got to talk to Linda and you know what she did. She "told us" what she would do. She got a service tech to the front, told him what she wanted him to do to satisfy our concerns, which he did, and she gave us a couple of tokens for a car wash. Thank you Linda. I am so disappointed with this dealership!!!! I called this morning and asked if they had a particular car still available. I even sent the link to the sales guy, Jon. He said they had the car and I asked of he could work up some lease options for me before I drove the 40 minutes to the dealership. He said yes to everything. I was happy and excited to go get a new car. I load my family up and we make the drive. When we arrive, he greets us, but he didn't have the car pulled up or anything for us to see (which I thought was kinda odd...it sure wasn't busy). He then points us to the Acadias and says he will meet us over by the cars. We get over there and don't see the car we had made the drive for!!! What?!?!?? After some time, Jon informs us that the car already sold. So the basics here: I drive 40 minutes to buy a car that I've confirmed is on the lot. Lazy sales guy doesn't ever check. Lazy sales guy who says he will work the numbers ahead of time never does that either (which would have resulted in him finding out the car already sold). So me, hubby and our 8m old just wasted 2hrs of our life on pure laziness and stupidity. Unacceptable. Young GMC, you will not be getting my business. I'm even kinda shocked that the manager didn't come out and apologize to us personally. I felt like Jessie said all the right things to me on the phone to get me to want to make the drive. Finally after two attempts to drive 4 hours to Utah from Idaho, making arrangements to have a babysitter because my husbands deployed, I got pawned off to a salesman. Jackson was great...until it came time to make the deal. No one had listened to my numbers...felt like no one respected me as a women buying a car on my own...was lied to about the numbers we wanted that got us down there...and was introduced to about 7 other people during the "bidding war", along with them trying to convince my that my trade in wasn't an AWD! Finally I had to get blunt and rude...I had a 4 hour drive home! We came to a deal...finally not anywhere close to what we were looking for...and they wrote up paperwork. For an hour and a half Jackson left me in his office/waiting room without any sort of update or acknowledgement! Still to this day i ask questions and no one is getting back to me! I am very unhappy with the way everything went down and will suggest to anyone I know not to deal with this dealership. Stay away from these guys. I bought a used Toyota 4-runner from them. They were friendly (but sexist--only wanted to talk to my husband) and had a reasonable warranty. The next week the car had major problems (several thousands dollars worth or repairs needed). Young refused to honor their warranty, they said this problem wasn't covered. I took the car to two other repair shops and showed them the warranty, and they said the problem absolutely should be covered. But Young refused. Both HID headlights went out on this 2015 Buick Enclave at the same time and Buick wanted 2008.63 to fix a headlight outage. I called the sales manager who doesn't have the courtesy or decency to return a call, and also the service manager who treated us the same way, so I think this might be the route we will take to express our disgust...I had a very reputable repair shop fix the car for 541.00 yesterday, and he felt bad he had to "charge me for the hid lights"....anyway, I think people should know what they might be in for if they choose this dealer. read more

I was very impressed with the service I received. First I felt the service adviser (Debbie) was knowledgeable and aware of conditions that could be wrong with our car. She was friendly and courteous and a 'prime mover' in the monumental effort of serving us her customers, ensuring we felt that we were on top of her to-do list. It was very convenient to be provided a ride home and a pickup when our car was ready. The drivers were courteous and very efficient providing safe passage coming and going to our home.
