This Salon's name has changed to Angel Nail Spa. The salon was dated and stoic. All white and displays of cheap knockoff hats, jewelry and purses. Not very clean. I had a basic pedicure by one of the ladies, not the owner. She looked and acted as if being there was the last place she wanted to be! Bare minimum effort and low professionalism. I would never consider returning. Techs need to keep in mind that there's a salon on every corner and competition is fierce. Angela gives me Brazilians every month, they are covid friendly, she always fits me In. I don't need to wait all day. She even complents me on my nails even though I go to another salon closer to where i live! She is wonderful along with the other women that work there. I was in Shelton on vacation and just randomly chose this shop. They took me right in as a walk in and were very friendly. I love how my nails look and also how gentle on my hands and cuticles my tech was. A lot of times I get at least a nick or two, or a cut from filing. Some people might not like the random start of a massage, but it sells itself. So good! I bought 3 10-minute sessions and another 10 on my hands and arms. I got a powder gel manicure there yesterday which is the absolute worst manicure I have ever had. She got the powder all over my fingers and put it on so thick that it was caked underneath. Instead of using the drummel to thin the powder underneath she used the cuticle scissor to try and scrape and cut it off. Couldnt get it off of my skin with the scissor so she simply cut my skin off that had the excess powder. I was shocked. When I complained that it was still all over she proceeded to file my skin!!! Are you kidding......I have never had my skin filed before. Complained to the owner who couldn't care less and played stupid. Dont go here, what a joke! read more

I have been coming here for almost a year. They are open 7 days a week and later than most salons. That right there will keep me coming back! Everyone is friendly and they do a thorough job. They do not rush and very important to me at least is that they speak in their native language very little around customers. The salon is clean and they play soothing music. Another thing I like is they have a rewards program, you get a certain amount of points on your card based on how much you didn't on your visit. I have already received $10 off a few times. Recently I have been saving my points and will receive $50 on my next appointment. I have not experienced that anywhere else. They truly value repeat customers. read more

Have been a customer here for a few years & have been happy with their services until recently My daughter had purchased a $100 gift certificate for Christmas for me that I had forgotten about (my fault). I went in & spoke to Angela=the owner- who said she had no record of it My daughter sent me a copy of the charge transaction on her credit card bill which I then showed Angela. She said it was purchased before she took over the salon-- (her brother owned it before her) and asked for the certificate and I advised her that it was made over the phone. She then said she would give me a $50 credit instead of the $100 - really? I let her know that if her brother didn't give her the information it wasn't my fault--so I am looking for a new salon read more

I went there for the first time. I asked for Chrome Nail polish. To be sure that the girl knew what Chrome was I asked her to show me pictures and she did. She did take out a powder which is what is used by Chrome application but this was not Chrome looking when she finished. My nails also were not buffed down properly. I had bumps and ridges through my nail polish. The whole job looked totally unprofessional. I definitely will NOT be returning back to Young Nails again. read more

Hello. I am not much of a spa girl but I like to get a pedicure the beginning of each summer season. This past Saturday my daughter offered to buy for Mother's Day. We started at closest salon n worked our way up Bridgeport Avenue. Everyone was pretty busy. We visited 6 before we walked into young and not one person sitting in their pedicure chairs. We decided to stay and get pedis. Everything went ok. The workers were very nice. I did notice I believe it may have been the owner stared at herself in the mirror for the whole hour and a half we were there, plucking eyebrows, using hair remover on her arms, face, like non stop for a whole hour and a half!! We were good until they put the callus remover on and brought out something that resembled a cheese grater! I mentioned how scary it looked and was happy when we were thru with that part of the pedi. The rest went ok. While drying my daughter got a phone call n was going to step out to take it and the girl in the mirror like flew after her to c where she was going which my daughter stated she was taking a call but the girl in the mirror was much too preoccupied. I got a ten min chair massage which was also nice. When it was time to pay the girl in the mirror had to fly over to make sure we were being charged for all the services we received. We left And went out for lunch and came back home. Usually after a pedi my feet and calf's look smooth and feel good. I had very dry skin and a huge crack in my heel. My daughter complained of feeling skin burned around the ball of her foot. After telling some friends of the experience I found out the these things called credo blades are illegal!! I called the Naugatuck valley health dept which says they would send someone out but I have no idea if they will follow thru. They said I can go ask for a refund or go after them small claims. I have taken photos of our feet and are seriously contemplating taking such course. My young daughter trying to give her mom a nice moms day out went awry and as a customer walking into a salon you would think you wouldn't have to worry about an illegal instrument being used on your delicate feet. I deliver mail and my daughter is a bartender and we are on our feet many hours a day and we have been in some discomfort after this incident. First off, let me start this review by saying that I went through the excruciating process of downloading the Yelp app just so I could write this review. That's how much I wanted to recommend this nail salon. I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Young Nails (if you couldn't already tell.) I was in Shelton for a few days for a wedding and wanted to get a pedicure (I had gotten a manicure before I left town.) Young was right across the street from my hotel and had great reviews on Yelp. I didn't make an appointment but when I walked in I was seated immediately. Whether this was just good timing or how the salon is normally, I don't know, but I was obviously very pleased. I went for the crystal gel pedicure. The nail tech spent so much time getting my feet to look pretty- not an easy task as my heels crack horribly! They used this awesome gel that felt so wrong yet so right. (Kidding. It didn't feel wrong. Just very right.) The tech massaged my legs and feet for 10 minutes. I almost fell asleep in the chair! It was absolutely amazing. Once the massaging and making my feet pretty portion of the appointment ended, a man who I assume is either the owner or the manager immediately came over to paint my toes. They came out beautifully- even my 17 year old brother thought so. After my toes were painted, I got another 10 minute massage on my neck and back that again almost made me fall asleep. Seriously, I was in heaven. And, a week after being there, my nails haven't chipped and my feet are still smooth and pretty. In rambling conclusion, the staff at Young Nail's delivered an exceptional service all with a smile and with a warm, welcoming attitude. Next time I'm near Shelton, I'll be back here. I even told my friend that I want to bring her to Shelton just for this salon! So, what're you waiting for? Go get your nails done! read more

All these great reviews were from when the previous owner - Sunny ran Young Nails. Since then it has gone WAY downhill...no more family friendly atmostphere, no more hot wax hand dips, no more massages when you get a mani. They are also highly under staffed. I made an appointment for a mani and still had to wait 25 minutes so there really wasn't any point to even making a reservation. On top of that the paint job was terrible - both me and my friend noticed mistakes on our nails. I will not be returning. read more

This salon always has me coming back! I started coming here back in high school during prom season. I had been left in a foot bath for a half hour at another salon, so i retreated here and they treated me great and did an awesome job on my nails! My mom is now a regular customer here as well. I have tried a couple other salons to get a new experience but I was never treated as well as I was at Young Nails. Even the people who come here as customers are more friendly. This might have to do with the laid back atmosphere. The owner is very nice and communicates well with all customers to make sure they know what they are getting! do NOT go! I went for a Brazilian wax, the room was VERY NASTY, dead bugs & a big dead spider in the corners and near the products on the shelf, there was 3 USED wax sticks on the wax holder, I asked if the lady if they were used & she said "they're new", then she started to apply the wax on my body WITHOUT gloves! her nails were dirty & she used the SAME WAX PAPER on my body the WHOLE time & the SAME WAX STICK even though I was bleeding a little she used the same stick and dipped it into the wax! when I left the room she did NOT throw out the wax stick she used on me but LEFT the 3 USED wax sticks on the waxholder...I guess for the next costumer to use...so nasty. I told the manager all this & how she kept the SAME STICK & DID NOT throw it out & all he said was "oh that's a good idea I will tell her"...really??!! this is not an "idea" this is a rule to be clean & not have cross contamination!!! especially since I was bleeding!! the lady saw me talking to the manager & looked surprised that this was even an issue, I still tipped her, but stay AWAY from this place because they know NOTHING about being clean and think it's just an "idea" and not something that is MANDATORY read more
