The best food in the whole Orange County beach restaurants. My favorite is shrimp tacos, every aspect of the dish is a gourmet, wild succulent shrimp, yummy green sauce with cabbage and cotija cheese, perfect pairing of flavors. It comes with generous amount of tortillas that is seasoned with Tajin and side of gourmet home made salsa, simply perfection. This establishment cares about the quality of food. Amazing restaurant by the ocean. Both the shrimp tacos and the fried chicken sandwich were delicious. Prices are more than reasonable and you just can't beat the view. Also very convenient walk from the Ritz Carlton and you can even request staff to come pick you up from Young's with a golf cart. Highly recommended!! read more

Was given the wrong order, mentioned to server - however as she mentioned they already prepared , we were being nice to them , accepted no big deal as did not want to wait longer and also give staff hard time, sometime later when they realized -another staff approached us and as we were eating food , they took the food from us , told us it is "more expensive " and "was for someone else" .Needless to say disappointed and embarrassed, as this was one of our frequent spot to grab coffee and breakfast. I ate at Young's Beach Shack on Friday the 13th and let me tell ya, it was everything BUT a horror movie. QUITE the opposite. I had an extra long window for lunch and decided to head down the hill to eat lunch at the beach. I ordered a margarita, Cheeseburger, fries and a coca cola from what appeared to be a "new guy" named Drake. A young woman named "Jinger" was standing at his side teaching him how to make my Margy. Drake was "struggle bussin' " at first, but he definitely got it as "Jinger," very methodically, helped him understand how to blend my libation. The feeling of accomplishment turned into a smile from Drake as he successfully figured out how to make my classic margarita. Drake said, "Thanks Jinger." I paid , and off I went to have a seat and smell the ocean air. Young's keep it very clean down there, even the sand isn't a "slip and slide" problem. Jinger followed Drake out to my table with my order, where she spoke highly of her trainee's efforts. It was nice to see there is still humanity in the younger generations, which seems to be a rarity these days. Keep up the great energy guys, I'll be back next week ! read more

My wife and I often park at Salt Creek and walk down to the path for a nice Saturday morning walk. Lately, we have been stopping at the Shack for a coffee and an occasional breakfast bite before our trek. The order process is handled at one window and the coffee is delivered at another. The counter girl always has a smile and a nice greeting and their coffee is perfect, especially on a chilly morning. There is always plenty of seating and we are able to watch the surfers as well as do a little people watching of the other walkers from the vantage point provided by the stools. I highly recommend a short stop for coffee and breakfast - it is worth the climb back up the hill afterward - (there is a little golf cart shuttle if you're not up for the short hike.) read more

What a pleasant surprise. I hadn't been to Salt Creek for a long time; after a couple hours on the beach I walked up the stairs to the old cafe I remembered for some mediocre beach food, and discovered this great place. Shack is an understatement -- they have really good gourmet food. My California Avocado salad was restaurant quality with fresh ingredients. Family munched on fries and apple pie and they also had the same impression -- quality can be sensed from the simplest foods. Delicious! We had the avocado toast, breakfast burrito and chilaquiles and loved every morsel. Our expectations were low as eateries located near the beach are often underwhelming but this was not the case here. You also cannot beat the view. read more

It's the location. Let's be honest. Just like their sister in Laguna Beach, it's really the location. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but nothing that is "OMG I need to go back there" type of food...typical bar food, fish and chips, burgers, salads, tacos, etc....they have alcohol (beer, spirits, liquor) and sweet treats (fried apple pie and balboa bars). Pricy, but expected given their rent there must cost an arm and a leg....the views, priceless, the beach, wonderful, the vibe, very OC and very beachy. Our recent trip consisted of the soju margarita, beers on tap and a rose....all were ok, the soju margarita is VERY citrusy and sweet....I'll pass on this next time! Our party had the angus burger and fries (7/10 typical burger, nothing spectacular but very big portion).... fish tacos and chips (7/10)....the strawberry salad (?).....looks pretty, tasted good.....(7/10) and lastly the ceviche and chips....(6/10).....the bill was $150ish......pricy but again, for the views and vibe, worth it. Will we be back? Yes, for the beach....for the food? Pass....we'll bring our own and just buy the liquor from Youngs. Oh...forgot to mention, it's PACKED, so keep that in mind, seating is limited and the service is ok...the staff does not seem to be super friendly and the people that were bringing out the food seemed like they had a surf board up their rear with some of the attitude I saw. read more

Always have loved their Bloody Mary's! Walked down there this morning, disappointed to see that the Bloody Mary's are now in a smaller glass and the recipe has totally changed! Why would you mess up something that worked. I couldn't believe it! They were watery, not nice and thick rich red Bloody Mary base. Totally disgusting, could barely get through it. Didn't order a second and won't be going back again. Not sure what happened! You can't put a nice garnish on there and think that we're not going to notice the difference in size and taste. I went this weekend with my wife. We both had a burger by far. The worst of the worst burger I've ever ever had first of all let's start by the meat has no seasoning no flavor the bread. I think they added butter and put it on the grill if so, worst mistake ever fries way overcooked seasoning on the fries was OK. The service was OK. A bunch of youngsters working there places clean nice view from the beach now going back to the food. I do cook a lot and I smoke a lot of meat burgers I make them from scratch at my own seasonings to the meat, and I would recommend for you to start seasoning your meat and do not put butter on the buns that kills the taste the aged cheddar cheese worst mistake bad taste to it. You should try a different cheese now this is just my opinion, but as a burger guy, I would not put that kind of cheese on the burger. I would definitely give it another try if there's improvement in the menu specially, the burger price is a bit high for the quality of the food it is read more

I used to love this place, the food was really good and worth the high price. It's a great location and totally understand why they priced on the higher side. Recently the food quality has dropped significantly. My once favorite burger has gone to one of the worst. 17$ for a sub par burger with a slice of tomato twice the size of the burger. Another issue I had was that the burger does not come with fries anymore. It now comes with chips which have 3 seasoned chips and the rest are flavorless. I'm really disappointed in the quality drop and will not eat here again. read more

I had been eagerly awaiting their opening since this is walking distance to my house. This place has changed hands several times so I was glad to see the owners of The Lost Pier coming in, as we have eaten several times there and have enjoyed it every time. While the BLTA I ordered was good and the service was great, I felt the overall price for what I received wasn't worth it. When I ordered, I asked if I could substitute the chips for fries and the cashier said yes, but then I was charged $4 extra. To me, that's not a substitute, it's an up charge. I added a $4 can of Diet Coke and my total with a small tip came out to $26. I pay that for a sandwich at the nearby The Links golf club for a sit down lunch. Overall, it just seemed steep to me for a sandwich at a casual beach shack. Will I eat here again? Definitely. I just don't think it'll be as often as I figured it would be. read more

This place has a cool vibe. Nice music, nice walking trail near by. Eat and look at the beach at the same time. Cool crowd, no unruly behavior. The food was really good as well. The fish (and chips) was greasy with no crisp and the portion is very small; one piece of thin fish. The clam chowder may as well be clam soup with no creaminess to it. The service was slow, but it was busy. They missed an item on my order and I let the person dropping off the food know and waited about 10min before having to go to the front counter myself since the server never came back out. I loved this place and was getting breakfast and/or lunch daily at this place when my husband was at a conference and I was staying close by at a hotel. Unfortunately on my last day there things went South. As I mentioned, I had been going there daily and I had to walk back to my hotel as I didn't have a car and it was hot out. This final day I had gotten a water with my lunch order, and when I asked for another water (and cup as I had a little water left and gave it to a very hot, panting pup who was with it's owner) the gentleman (seemingly manager: Dark hair, 40's maybe?, thin, hair nicely groomed) who was working looked at me and said "water for you...or for A DOG?" I responded "for me. I gave my last bit of water to a hot dog." He couldn't have looked at me with a more condescending and disgusted expression. He *hesitantly* filled and then handed me a new water while still giving me that look. I walked the 20min home feeling awful for being a paying customer who asked for more water just for being a caring and compassionate human. I am so sad that his approach to customer service truly left me feeling bad/sad especially after I had been a loyal customer and told others to go here. His actions and condescending manner made me question if I want to return in the future. I do...and I will, but I will be hesitant to interact with him. (A lot of us are not from the area and we don't automatically know that there is a water fountain available around the corner for dogs. Additionally, I believe there may have been a dog bowl- but it was empty if it was present. A little empathy and understanding goes a long way). read more

Foods solid drinks too. But the line is always way too long. Not sure why they only have one order window. Seems pretty obvious have two lines improve service wait time. People buy more and turn customers quicker. If that's no possible have a person taking orders mobile just like chick fila. So simple. read more

Wow! What a great addition to Creek! 1st off they pay homage to the history of Salt Creek by naming it after the Young's who owned the access to drive onto the beach to park. They fixed the place up beautifully. The menu is amazing. They serve beer and wine. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food. Went for lunch today for the BLTA with an amazing view. I'll be back. Sunset dinner with my wife, adult beverages, delicious food and a beautiful walk. Perfect! read more

We live across the street and eat here often. The breakfast burrito is one of the best in OC. We brought our whole family here for dinner and most people got the Poke bowl, including myself, and unfortunately it was pretty bad. Fish seemed old, so much lettuce and barely any rice. Not worth $20. My family was pretty bummed. But I will come back for the burrito and might try some other stuff. read more

Great location and food. Only down side is that you have to walk down a big hill from the parking lot to get there so be warned about that, I was with my mother who is not in the best of health and she struggled to make it back to the top of the hill. read more
