I came here with my husband and dog. We snagged some awesome seats facing the ocean and ordered the chicken sandwich, Acai bowl and a couple of beers. Everything was delicious! Make sure you are not in a rush, orders take a while to come out. Only suggestion I have is it would be nice if they had some relaxing island music in the background.

Shhhhhhh We don't want everyone to know how incredibly wonderful and delicious this beach shack is. guys., the food is delicious and you're staring at the ocean. 5 We had a feast and a couple of cocktails to go with it....

Young's Beach Shack is an absolute gem, and we can't wait to go back! We stopped in after breakfast, so we didn't get to try everything on the menu, but what we did have was incredible. The clam chowder is rich, flavorful, and perfectly comforting--definitely a must-try. We also loved their micheladas, which were refreshing and expertly made, making for a fun and tasty treat by the beach. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, and everyone in the area was super friendly. It really felt like a place where the community comes together, and it was fun to see people enjoying themselves with their dogs on the patio. The laid-back, beachside vibe makes it a perfect spot to relax, have a good meal, and soak in the friendly energy. We left wishing we could have tried more from the menu, which just gives us a reason to return soon. Between the amazing food, great drinks, and warm, welcoming atmosphere, Young's Beach Shack is a spot we highly recommend. It's a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious beachside eats and a friendly, fun environment. We'll definitely be back!

Excellent location right next to the beach. The price definitely reflects that. It was super crowded on the weekend. I was able to get a table before the food arrived. The staff are super nice. I couldn't grab all the food in one trip, but the staff helped take half of it to me. Fish and chips - nice batter and very crispy. Portion is a bit small. Poke bowl - fresh poke, it was light and tasty on a hot day. Clam chowder - pretty good and balanced.

This place was full, and with good reason (and not just because it appears to be the only joint on the beach!). The food is surprisingly tasty for a beach shack. The views are nice but you'll be hard pressed to find a table. Be prepared to eat your lunch on the beach or on the grassy areas nearby.

Awesome location and can't really beat the view. This spot is quintessential Dana Point. The line was quite long and good took a while to come out but it was a hot day and the beach was pretty busy on the weekend. Probably wouldn't be such a long wait otherwise. If you can secure a bar stool overlooking the water while you wait for the food it's the ideal spot to watch surfers! The burger was juicy and the spiced tortilla chips it came with should not be overlooked. Poke bowl was very fresh and had a healthy serving of tuna in it. I wasn't incredibly impressed with the fish n chips although it is locally caught which makes me appreciate it more. The beach shack knows they can probably get away with upcharging since it's the only source of food at the beach, but for the location and the vibes it's probably worth it.

This place is in such a great location. It's an ocean-view bar without the ocean-view price tags. My favorite thing to order is their michelada, which comes with a cute pepper and hot sauce. It tastes authentically Mexican. It's all outdoor seating. Although they have a good number of tables, it's always crowded. I love that they use aluminum cups instead of plastic. There's also a shuttle that takes you back to the parking lot for a few bucks, in case walking uphill is difficult for you.

Nice little spot where you can grab a bite to eat or even a cocktail if you're spending the day at Salt Creek Beach. As you make your way down the big hill towards the beach, you'll notice Young's towards the bottom on the right. They also have a paid shuttle that can take you to and from the parking lot. This is a casual, order at the window and seat yourself kind of place. Depending on the day and time, I could see it getting crowded. But we went on a holiday weekday and didn't have trouble finding a table or have to wait long for our food. The main draw here is the beautiful ocean view but the food is better than expected for a beach shack. Our Fried Chicken Sandwich ($16) was big and came with seasoned tortilla chips. It was tasty with a spicy kick but a little salty. The Fish & Chips ($19) were good. I don't know what type of fish they use but it seemed fresh and the fries were hot and crispy. I just think it's overpriced for one piece of fish. It's a really convenient place to get food after you've worked up an appetite at the beach if you don't mind paying a premium for the location.

We stopped by here during our bike trip. Got myself Acai Parfait and Lemonade. The order taker is quite thoughtful as I mentioned I do not keen on sweet drink, so She initiatively proposed the Lemonade mixed with unsweetened tea. Great amenities with self service mineral water. Eating Acai with great sea view, who doesn't want that?!

This beach restaurant has never disappointed. The iced vanilla late was a perfect creamy and full of flavor. Although, my friend didn't enjoy her Carmel latte, which didn't have much flavor, but vanilla was perfect for an afternoon pick me up on the beach. The shrimp tacos are great and full of flavor especially for a small spot on the beach!! The chips have a yummy salted seasoning on them. We waited about 15-20 mins for the food which was reasonable for how busy the area was on a sunny Sunday afternoon. There's a few places to sit right outside the food area, but you can also take the food down to the beach which was so fun for us!

I was very impressed with the strawberry lemonade and mixed berry smoothie. I didn't try the food but everything looks incredible. This is one of my favorite beaches in Orange County and I never knew when I lived here how great this place was. Totally worth the stop and walk down the hill from the parking lot just for this.

The food was surprisingly good. The Lobster Roll was absolutely delicious. Light crisp and refreshing. $38 was a soild price due to the quality and the convenience of getting Roll at the beach. Shrimp tacos were amazing. The Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich and Chicken Tenders & Fries were great. Service was fast and friendly with a nice beachy vibe.

This place is at the beach that is right below the Ritz Carlton. A lonnnnnnnnnnng walk from the car lot but worth it. Beautiful area. We just stopped in for a snack of French fries and margaritas. Both were the best! There a man on-site shaking margaritas in the eating area. GREAT flavor and refreshing. Those fries are delicious. Battered and crispy. The service is excellent. Expect a line. This place is a joke. $4.00 for a 12oz can of soda. No refills. Not a 20oz. Frozen nuggets for kids that looked like Burger King, tasted like dog food. If your desperate for a meal try it, good luck. Ritz Carlton doesn't even charge $4.00 for soda and has much better quality food. I get it's on the beach, but your food quality stinks and your prices are taking advantage of tourists. Bring the old beach hut back please!! read more

Right on the beach! Great views while you eat. I love that everything here is made to order. I was debating breakfast or something more "beachy" and ultimately got the fish and chips. The fries were absolute perfection. Just the right amount of crunch and hot! Which I love. The fish itself was tasty but the quantity seemed a little low and it was a tad bit over cooked. It did taste good though. I would definitely go back and give something else a try. Places like this usually suck because they become your only option when you're spending a day at the beach...glad this place takes pride in what they serve. read more

Amazing value for the area. Right next to the beach. Quality rivals nearby restaurants. My family stayed near the beach recently. Ate here 3 times. Chilaqiluiles were done with green sauce (yes!). They were a tiny bit spicy for my taste, but were otherwise fantastic. That over easy egg yolk burst and helped cut through the spice. Amazing. 4.5 out of 5 Chicken tenders are pretty good. The fries were really good. My wife and 3 year old son were sold on the entire place and coming back due to these. Glad we did come back. 4 out of 5. Breakfast burrito was top notch. All the bacon in everything is thick cut and just barely crispy. Just past chewy. Perfect for us. 4.5 of 5. BLTA was one of the best sandwiches anywhere. 4.5 of 5. Bacon, avocado, thick tomato, lettuce, toasted sourdough, garlic aioloi? Amazing. The bread was a little toastier than I'd prefer. But that was fixed with.. The breakfast sandwich was everything the BLTA was except it added an egg with just barely runny yoke (amazing) and traded the crunchy sourdough for a croissant. This was a 5 out of 5. The berry smoothie was also very good, but not blended all the way through. Frozen berries at the bottom. 4 of 5. Açai Parfait. I spend over 2 years in Brazil and am not a huge fan of Americanized Açai. However this was very good. Granola, blueberries, shredded coconut, walnuts, banana. Appeared to probably have a touch of lime in the açai. The Açai was thick (big plus). 4.5 of 5. Service was great (thank you for helping us so much Xander). Packed us up to go a couple times really well, which made the hike back up the bluff easier. 5 of 5. Location is 2 minute walk from the sand. 5 of 5. We will be back. read more

We went here to grab a quick bite by the beach. Let me tell you the service was amazing Jinger the cashier was polite and her service was excellent. The outdoor seating was comfortable you have great views of Laguna Beach. You must finish all adult drinks before going to the beach. The food was delicious good quality great value for beach side snacks. We will be back this is our favorite beach and this is now one of our favorite snack and drink spots. The service was top notch. We stayed just up the beach at the Ritz and the service was kind and helpful just like the hotel. Thanks for being great at what you do! See you soon! read more

You're definitely playing for sitting at the beach. So of corse it's beautiful here even on a chilly day! We've been twice and love the chilaquiles. BUT only for the salsa verde & the sweet pickled onions. The first time the chips were very crispy! But this time it was emerged to us like a pile of mush. Soggy and cold. The burger is good even gluten free but because I can't eat the bun it made it less filling so I got fry's but those are also not gluten free.. also it's silly that it was offered to me because I couldn't eat them. The garlic aoli is great here but for the price of the food you definitely should have consistency with food and service. Which people are nice every time but very slow and it's been pretty empty both times we've come. I'm just not sure it's worth the price for the food. But the effort is there just lack of follow through. read more

Solid, tasty food. Went to celebrate nephew's birthday at the beach and his family suggested we try this spot out. I spilt the Grass Fed Burger and Short Rib Grilled Cheese with my mom. Both of us found it tasty. Got the burger since it comes with fries, as nephew is a fan, he initially declined but after he had some, he commented those were tasty, so I gave him more, I should have requested some ranch. Enjoyed the fat in the short rib grilled cheese. My cousin got the Fried Chicken sandwich, which she really enjoy as it was nice and crispy. She also got the chilaquiles, which were decent. We must have just missed the lunch crowd, as we were able to snag a table. And it's convenient that there's a restroom tied to the business. The order windows can be a bit confusing, as the one on left is only for drinks I believe and just to pick up drinks, center one is for ordering, and right is for picking up orders and I had to go back, as I didn't get napkins with my order and then also needed utensils, perhaps some signage, would be helpful, so people don't go to the wrong window. But would definitely would come back here again, if I'm back at this beach. read more

You know what? I was one of the Beach Shacks (young's) b I g g e s t fans when they reopened. Loved the vibe, the employees the food and drink. The last few months have been soooo disappointed in their food. This is just the latest .. the short rib grilled cheese..barely a smear of short rib OR cheese. All bread and nothing exciting about that. Sorry guys. The new normal (inconsistency) is sad and I won't be throwing money away anymore. Basic coffee , tap beers sure ... but food ..BIG disappointment!! Used to be SO. GOOD. read more

I have visited Young's Beach Shack on many occasions. I have to say the food is great, and the service is exceptional. I'd like to give special thanks to two of the employees that are always upbeat and put a smile on my face every time I visit. That would be Jinger and Omar. Both are exemplary employees that serve with respect, kindness and great professionalism, both very conscientious about providing exceptional customer service. I have recommended Youngs to many people, and all have expressed the good vibes they get whenever they visit. I feel like the pictures on here don't do the place justice. Not only is the location prime, it is nicer and more spacious than I expected. My friend and I met here as it is halfway between her in Culver City and me in San Diego. The parking lot charges a cheap $1/hour and the walk down the hill is magnificent! The sunset was gorgeous and the park and beach surrounding the shack are beautiful! We will be back. read more

This place was soooo good. The clam chowder was delicious with lots of meat and topped with bacon. It had almost a bisque taste. Creamy and flavorful. Next the fish and chips. Loved this spot! Casual beach shack with great menu, big portions and quality fish and seafood!! You can't go wrong here. Also can't go wrong with the beach side seating and views! I'm pretty sure they serve beer also! The fish tacos and shrimp tacos looked incredible. We ordered the fish and chips and it was a grey portion for a good price. Great on the beach spot. For what you see, we spent $70, so it's definitely pricey. Shrimp tacos were pretty good (6/10) and a good portion size, but the poke bowl was nothing to write home about. n/a drinks are the same price as regular cocktails. Loved the location and convenience tho! read more

Established in 2023.

In 2023 Young's Beach Shack opened as a coastal classic, reimagined. Inspired by the original Young's Beach Camp, a gatekeeper of Salt Creek Beach in the 1940s through the '60s, our new beachside café welcomes locals and visitors alike to stop by for a drink and a bite and enjoy the incredible and culturally rich Salt Creek Beach. It's known for its fresh seafood, hearty breakfast burritos, signature cheeseburgers, and beach picnic provisions, all made with sustainable ingredients. Executive Chef Kyle St. John heads up the culinary expertise, which also manages catering services for private events at the park's event space.

Kyle St. John is the Executive Chef at Young's Beach Shack, our sister café, Lost Pier Café, and The Ranch at Laguna Beach. Kyle joined The Ranch at Laguna Beach in 2016 bringing his passion of farm-to-table cooking and fresh, locally-sourced California coastal cuisine. Kyle’s love for food started in the kitchen with his family’s cooking and Grandmother's recipes, which led him into the culinary world working in restaurants while attending school. He is committed to using local, seasonal ingredients and supporting the farmers and fishermen in Southern California.

Being an active member in the equestrian community, I was looking forward to recruiting more friends to join, as well. However, I would not waste time or money on a membership for such an outdated, rude, poorly serviced establishment. No better way to unwind! Pro tip: NEVER EVER SKIP THE FRESH BAKED COOKIES! The property is the perfect size to remain quaint like a bed and breakfast but big enough that you don't feel obligated to know each person coming and going. I would admit being in our mid 40's, we were on the younger side of guests during our stay, but this was a welcome surprise for us as we were looking for a quiet getaway for the evening for our 9 year wedding anniversary. The room was 212 which is an ADA accessible room but this I believe was provided at the special request of having a bathtub for my wife who values her baths on her getaways! The room faces the parking lot but this is a small sacrifice for what the true payoff was which was the special request... The giant jacuzzi tub which did not disappoint. It was large enough to fit two adults (not that we tried or anything *wink wink). The jets worked great and my wife raved about them. The room came with luxurious robes and slippers and all bath products were either local or unique brand. The room also came with a fireplace that was gas which started with the flip of a light switch. Another beautiful touch. It is always hard to find a bed that is comfortable enough while away from home as we are spoiled by our sleep number at home but this bed did the trick (which most chain or corporate hotels cannot accomplish!). The linens were soft and the room came with extra pillows and blankets on hand without having to ask for more. The complementary breakfast buffet in the morning was not your standard spread. It felt more refined and focused on the details. It was not your scrambled eggs from powder. It was two sunny side up eggs cooked to perfection. It wasn't generic underripe fruit, it was perfectly ripe fruit with an assortment of sides. My wife raved about the yogurt and toppings as did I about the oatmeal and toppings. Overall this could not have been a better short 1 night getaway for my wife and I to enjoy away from the hectic everyday life. It truly felt like we slowed down time and the blue lantern Inn accomplished all we needed in having a successful start to our anniversary celebrations.

I came into this experience with high expectations. I love eating out and decided that I was going to take my girlfriend out so we could get some food and enjoy a nice beach walk. The food wasn't awful or bad by any means but that short rib grilled cheese should not be called a grilled cheese, kind of misleading. It had one type of cheese on it and only half the sandwich had cheese. It's a short rib SANDWICH, not a grilled cheese. That aside, breakfast burrito was very good and so was the fried chicken sandwich. Kyler recommended the fried chicken sandwich and it was easily the best thing we had. Overall, food is a 2/2.5. Service could use some serious work though. The server named Jared was kind of a jerk who after getting us our food walked off after we asked for some extra salsa, we never got the salsa. My girlfriend got up, walked to the window and asked for some and right after she got some heard Jared say "finally that lazy b!#ch got up and did it herself." That in my opinion is totally unacceptable, rude, demeaning and if I had been in a more irritated mood, I would've talked to the manager and had Jared fired on the spot. Service 0/2.5 Overall, I would say that the food is good but after scrolling past reviews, it seems that this Jared has a serious attitude problem and needs to be dealt with. Views, food and service all five stars ! The fish tacos are some of the best I ever had !! Fun spot to eat and watch the surf. Dog friendly is a plus. They have an outside bar setup during the weekends and run a shuttle to and from the parking lot. The line can get long on busy days but definitely worth the wait. read more

I've been coming here since they opened and I absolutely love it! They have great food (the burger and shrimp tacos are my favorite), a great sunset view and very friendly service! I can't complain! read more

Great breakfast burrito at this beach front restaurant. You'll spend $15 for the burrito and another $4 for an iced tea or coffee. Who cares what you spend when the views are a million dollars!!! read more
