Even back in 2006, finding Fresh was one of the best things that came out of my 9 years spent in that part of Connecticut. Fresh started as one studio and after a short duration of having 2 studios, is back to one. Erector Square is large, clean, comfortable and easy access off the highway with parking that is easy and no additional cost. Fresh always had tremendous diversity and that has been one of its greatest assets. Whether you want a high intensity, strength based class, a gentle flowing class, or more restorative option, there is something there for you if not today, tomorrow. Teachers are highly trained and unique in getting pose cues and placement tips across to students. They are (in "normal times") great with hands on adjustments but also respect everyone's personal preference and almost all with ask permission before offering physical adjustments. There is overall excellent knowledge of injury warnings and appropriate modification offerings. After I left the area in 2017, I lost "contact" with my favorite studio, but I never found anything even near to its caliber. I completed 3 teacher trainings at Fresh as well as did a year long mentorship with the owner. I was blessed by chance, in this time of cyber class offerings only to return to "class" at Fresh and am only more impressed than I had been over 10 years ago. I love that classes are offered at 3 different price levels to allow for spending what you feel classes are worth but also to balance not being too strapping on a limited budget. The teaching has progressed amazingly and just the voiced cues on Zoom classes help me feel better positioning and adjustment in my body. Over the past week, I've done 2 Forrest yoga classes, a core connection class, a Fresh flow class, 2 very different vinyasa classes ( no more sun salutations AD NAUSEUM at this place!) 2 very different Yin classes and a Yoga Tune up class! What more can I say. I am excited to return to the studio when its up and running again. I just wanted to post a stellar review online in this down time because these virtual classes so inspired my desire to take up yoga seriously again!

Phoenix is very sensitive to physical, and intellectual difficulties and adapts the class to our needs, breaking down the instructions so we can keep up and get the most out of our time with her. Our last session was a restorative practice which left us all feeling relaxed and de-stressed. It's a great, healthy way to spend time with my girls and we're so glad we found this studio! It really is special.  I would consider myself somewhat of a "yogi nomad" never really finding that studio that resonated with me...however I've found my home. Seymour & the Valley is blessed to have this offering to it's community. The teachers are loving, personable, knowledgeable,and compassionate. They provide caring instructions accompanied by healing words to guide you through your practice, meditation, self awareness, and spiritual journey. I've taken classes with Phoenix, Charles & Rebecca and each has uniquely elevated my practice. The studio is warm and very inviting with a max capacity of roughly 12 in studio 1 . I felt very comfortable the moment I walked in the door. (Btw please remove your shoes when you walk in.) I very much enjoyed the creativity and personal touch each teacher brings to the mat and appreciate the fine balance of personal attention the teachers offer up. The decor is very simplistic and the bay windows shine in just enough to cover the floor in natural light. The pricing is more than reasonable compared to other studios in Fairfield County and the caliber of teachers far surpass any instructor I've experienced at the Edge, LA Fitness or Planet Fitness. Additionally, I wanted to mention the music. Two thumbs way up on the music selections the teachers are bringing into the classes....eclectic, soothing and up lifting. If your a guy who has been considering yoga to improve your flexibility, mental health or physical strength and is apprehensive to step into a studio for whatever reason....this is the spot for you. I called Liz and immediately felt comfortable enough to try her class. Of course I was nervous at my first class. I spoke to a few others and asked about the class. Everyone was positive with comments like "Liz is wonderful, She'll encourage you to push yourself with no pressure, I've been coming to this class for years, etc." I've now been attending yoga class twice weekly for about two months now and I love it! I can feel my strength and flexibility improving and Liz tells me with time I might even flatten my belly. Everyone is friendly, yet the class is a good size with opportunity for individualized help as needed. The payment procedure is convenient and reasonable. Liz is amazing, always encouraging as she varies the class weekly so it always feels fresh and new. It's a great class! So, if you are interested in Yoga, give it a try.

And name change after Petra bought it from OG. I appreciate that only the power classes are hot and that you can do regular flow in a reg temperature room. They tend towards more yin positions (ie slower but harder to hold asanas. Less likely to get injured in this method. They have morning and evening classes. All that changed, however, after one session at Pradipika-which ironically means to illuminate or shed light on-Yoga. Diaphanously dressed Marcy led our Power Vinyasa class in the small, yummy smelling studio. Her pace was persistent, but allowed for ample time to make adjustments or suggestions for modifications in either direction of difficulty. At various times during the class she'd oh-so subtly and gently reposition me. And at the risk of sounding creepy let's just say, her magic touch almost made me want to strike the wrong pose. I also loved the overall vibe of her class; particularly the music which featured my personal favorite Aimee Mann. The owner, Jennifer Dahlgren offers a full complement of classes-including a series designed just for kids-for people at all levels of their practice. Classes: Everything from the basics to hot yoga Schedule: 3 - 5 classes a day Atmosphere: Light, clean and of course Zen. Price: Variety of passes and packages which range from $16 for a drop in to as low as $10 if you buy a group of 30. The reason I gave 4 vs 5 stars is because of the limited class availability, and I have found this with most yoga studios. Om offers 1-2 classes in the morning and then (I am not 100% positive) nothing until the evening. Most working folks can't attend a 9:30 a.m. class, which makes going quite difficult. Evenings I am usually too busy. They used to offer a 6/6:30 a.m. class that was geared towards runners and/or athletes, but I believe they cancelled it. An early morning class would be incredibly helpful for those that have to go to work. That being said, when I can I will always go back.
