I have been craving some fried catfish all week! Well today, I got my fix! The fish was seasoned really well and was very crispy. The entire establishment gives family reunion vibes. The servers are warm and inviting. Tonight was a karaoke night so the vibes were light hearted around the space. I've been here once before but I was outside on the patio. PLEASE check out the patio if you visit during the warmer months. The guests are always diverse and chill. "Your Place" is definitely the best name for this location. This past Sunday we ordered takeout from Your Place Diner and as always, the food was absolutely delicious. It never disappoints! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and prepared just right. We haven't had the chance yet to fully enjoy the chill atmosphere inside the bar area and sit down for a drink or two, but every time we pick up our order you can feel the relaxed, welcoming vibe. It looks like the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a laid-back evening. Next time, we're definitely dining in so we can experience the full atmosphere instead of doing takeout. Soul Food Sunday did not disappoint. I was in the mood for ox tails and Google sent me directly to YOUR PLACE DINER. I'm so glad to have stumbled upon such a neighborhood gem. The space is clean, has a full bar, dining area, with a separate entertainment area on the lower level. There was a live band section, dart board, jukebox & bar. Outdoor patio was also a nice touch. My boyfriend and I made a stop in St. Louis during a road trip. We were craving soul food and stumbled upon Your Place Diner on tik tok. When we walked in, the ambiance was warm and welcoming. The food was amazing ! Seasoned to perfection and fresh. I had spicy lemon pepper wings and he had fried catfish. I wasn't a fan of catfish but after trying theirs, I'm a fan now. We will definitely be back when we visit St. Louis again! I would say to come early though because they did run out of a lot of sides. read more

WOWWWW... Yes... that's the best way I can describe my experience. I used multiple search engines to determine where to eat when I came to STL and this spot came up multiple times with great reviews and I am so glad that we were able to dine here while in town. The restaurant was about a 15 minute drive from our hotel which was in downtown STL, we took an Uber so we did not have to worry about parking. When we arrived the line was to the door but it moved quickly. While we did dine-in, we ordered our food first and then were directed to seat ourselves. The menu changes (I assume daily) and on the day of our visit, hubby and I ordered catfish, potato salad and green beans (I had traditional style but hubby ordered fried spicy green beans). We sat and waited for our food to be prepared, which may have taken about 15 mins (give or take a few) but either way, the wait didn't feel like it took long because we were able to enjoy the sounds of R&B from multiple eras and also had the pleasure to engage in light conversation with the owner, Ms. Yvette, the security guard and bartender - they were all personable and a little humorous. But when the food came out, all conversation stopped because hubby and I did not come up for air until we finished eating our dinner, which was WHOA-licious!!!! To translate, that's dangerously good! lol. The flavor of the catfish was superb! I ALWAYS put hot sauce on my catfish but decided not to and I'm so glad I didn't. The flavor, seasoning and texture were on point; it was perfectly golden brown and crispy. The traditional string beans, which were cooked in turkey were delicious, and supple; while the potato salad was fresh, tasty and had great texture. The fried, spicy greens beans had excellent flavor and were firm - neither hubby nor I had ever heard of or tasted this style of string beans and were thoroughly impressed! The portion sizes of our meals were great also! We mostly cleaned our plates so didn't have room for dessert but whenever we come back to STL, we WILL return (and save room for dessert next time)! Great service and it was fast! That alone allowed me to give them five stars. It's hard to come by these days. The staff was kind and accommodating. The catfish and baked ribs were great! I enjoyed the macaroni & cheese. I didn't care for the vegetables but everyone's palate is different. That didn't knock off a star from me because I can't expect to love everything I try. My daughter, being her naturally cute five year old self, was able to have something kid-friendly made for her that isn't on the menu. I hope to see a kids menu as they navigate this new business. Got wind that there was a soul food restaurant that just open yesterday, so I had to try it. We drove across town and I'm glad we did. Thankfully the dining room was empty - since we are still in a pandemic - I was comfortable dining in. I prefer to eat my food fresh from the kitchen as opposed to reheating once I get home. First thing I noticed was the full bar . Although I did not indulge this time, I'll try one of their specialty drinks next time. The first thing they did was to offer to change the channel from sports to a kid- friendly option my 5 year old granddaughter. That got them three stars right then and there! We placed our orders right away, and the server even accommodated us with an off-menu option for my granddaughter. Within minutes our food was served and overall everything was delicious. I placed a order for sides only and that took a very long time because they seem to be extremely busy. I was also told that there were only the two waitresses and the owner there when they gave me two of the 3 sides I ordered for free. That was cool but the portions were very small and I guess since everybody wants meat they don't have a system set up for just ordering sides. You know the food is good when I looked around after our waitress dropped off our meals and we were all LITERALLY dancing in our seats as we ate (it helps that they play music in here too). I honestly don't even know where to start because I loved this place so much. It's in an unassuming spot in the Carondelet neighborhood, with plenty of street parking out front. When we walked in, I genuinely felt like we were walking into the home of a friend with how friendly quite literally everyone was inside. We met the owner (I think she was the owner, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong ) who was an absolute GEM and told us all about the building, their various weekly specials, and invited us back anytime (hello karaoke on Saturdays). Now onto the food, WOW. We tried a little of everything and my entire group of 6 loved every single dish. The catfish fillets, the spaghetti, the fried okra (personal fave), the hot honey wings (another personal fave), the mac & cheese, AND the yams, 10/10. This is not a "bad" review. This is solely my opinion. Try them for yourself. I had BBQ and catfish. The bbq was either boiled or baked, no smoked flavor at all. The catfish was okay, I'd rate it 7/10. The potato salad was amazing. The spaghetti was a little bland and the cole slaw was okay. The staff was very friendly. I just wish they had something other than a menu board to order from, especially for those that dine in. Can't say enough good things about this place but let me start with the service. We were immediately greeted so warmly as we entered the diner and seated immediately. The waiter was finding cartoons on one of the many TVs for a group that had children (how sweet is that!). Next we viewed the menu of the day on the neon board placed on the wall. There were a few options but we opted for the catfish, wings, jack, yams, Mac n cheese, and cornbread. The food came out quickly! And extremely hot and fresh! The chicken and fish were seasoned to perfection and the crunch was divine so I think how can this get any better. The yams and Mac n cheese were flavorful mouthwatering slap ya mama down South good as well! But there was something about that buttery cornbread that kept me going back for more! Everything was delicious! The environment was friendly, it did get a little smoky from all the frying but nothing a little more ventilation can't fix. I heard this place was featured in the Riverfront Times and now I know why. The owners came out to check on everyone which made the trip so much more special. Okay, this place deserves 10 stars. The service is Excellent, very hospitable & personable. They tend to you quickly & make you feel right at home. (It's a new black owned business & the owners family does work here) We we're able to meet the owner & Chef Dwayne! His son King was our server & very delightful.
