I've had better. It's basic bar food, but actually pretty good (what I tasted). I had a Blackberry Mule which was delicious and the fries were GREAT. But only one server in the place made for slow service. Not the server's fault, but it made for an uncomfortable visit. We were going to a play afterwards, and worried whether we were going to make it in time. The atmosphere was that of a not extremely clean, and pretty run down place. Very casual bar with a menu. We were greeted warmly, asked for seating for a group and were graciously accommodated. Two of us sat and waited for the rest of the group being served water and asked if we wanted anything from the bar. Our group all seated. Food menu provided at table. Some interesting food choices but generally burgers, sandwiches and fries. Ample bar choices of beer, wine cocktails. Service was spotty, slow but only noticed one server. Some of us were there an hour before we finally were served our food. One of our group was served when nearly all of us were finished. This place is awesome! The minute you walk in you see warmly greeted by the staff. The wings and sides are really good. What's great is that you get the full wing ( drumstick and flat ) . The fries, onion ring, and mozzarella sticks were amazing. Not sure if it was beacuase we were sitting outside the tips of the buffalo wings were a bit cold, but otherwise everything was delicious , I loved the Thai chili wings. Awesome service as soon as I walked in. The bartender greeted me immediately and was super helpful while I was ordering. I ordered a size salad and a burger with no bun. The burger was OK, it was like premium, frozen beef not a fresh patty, it was just ok. I wouldn't get it again. However, the salad stole the show. It was loaded with cheese, onion, egg, cucumber, tomato, and a raspberry vinaigrette. The ambience is like bar and grill. They have arcade games and they had sports playing on all the TVs. Everything is great here! I have been fascinated with this place ever since my first visit. The owner always is so nice and will great you with a smile. There's 2 bars with plenty of seating, a cigar lounge (I'm not a smoker so I can't say what it's like in there,) there are multile TV screens, games, good food, great drinks, and certain nights of the week have weekly activities. Started going here opening week & it became my favorite spot in the area hands-down. The expansion of the second bar / arcade brought a new crowd with it, but the layout does a good job at separating the two areas depending on what you're going for. What a great neighborhood bar. We stayed a block or so away in an AirBnB for a week and every evening ended at Mack's. The food was good... the housemate concoction 'purple poison' was what all the locals drink... it's good! We bought a jar of pickles made by Mack's uncle (if I recall) and they were off the charts delicious. The staff was very friendly. Had breakfast here. Love the ambiance, the food, and the friendly service. They have awesome French toast and eggs cooked to perfection. Also, they make the perfect Bloody Mary. Seems like a lot of regulars go here, and seemingly for good reason. Also, loved the location of the restaurant. It's close to the zoo and in a cool area that has lots of beautiful architecture. If I lived in St. Louis, I'd probably be a regular here, too. read more

The food is pretty basic but the service was so DARN friendly!!! Appetizers were onion rings and fried pickles. We got the fish and chips, the cheeseburger and fries, and wings as entrees. Everything was good but not outstanding, except the burger which was delicious and juicy. I wish there were more vegetarian and non-deep fried options. The place was clean and nicely decorated for Halloween. The owner, Mack, waited on us and was so welcoming. Prices are good and the location is great. We'll return! read more

FOOD: Solid pub food offerings. They also have brunch on the weekends now (2Schae couldn't stay out of retirement!) and ice cream (Wisconsin dairy!) around the corner. Only wish- that they serve breakfast potatoes on the brunch menu... EXPERIENCE: probably the best part, they've really added to the neighborhood feel with an enjoyable space to hang out and catch up with. The bar inside has lots of games and activities to do including live music, karaoke, and trivia some nights SERVICE: very efficient but friendly. The staff clearly want everyone to feel like they're at home and are the kind of people you want to be regulars with VALUE: most entrees under $15, brunch under $10, ice cream under $5. Walking up, I was struck by great location. Tree lined streets, outside tables - restaurant looked inviting. Went inside - first impression - very clean and well cared for. But the star is Mac, the owner. An infectious smile and a warm personality made us very comfortable. This was a weekday around 1:30. Mac and the cook were the only staff and the man was working the bar, taking orders, budding tables, etc. I was impressed with him. I had the BBQ burger-really liked it- bigger than expected, great taste. Thin bun that didn't dominate the burger. Served with skinny fries that were hot and salty. I really liked the fries - but I had ordered onion rings. My wife had the loaded nachos. But vegetarian. (Yeah, I don't get it either). This was a little disappointing- had some heat but needed more veggies. Cheese sauce was flat. Serving was enough for two. Bill for two was 28$. I will go back and recommend you try it. read more

Found this place on Yelp. Everything about the place is super good!! Wife had the BBQ burger and I had the fish and chips. The burger was very good with bacon, cheese sauce and an onion ring. It came with seasoned fries that were awesome. The fish was a breaded filet that came out hot, lightly breaded and very tasty. It was also served with crispy seasoned fries. Nice clean well lit restaurant/bar. Our server (maybe the owner?) was very attentive and super friendly. He said they were having country karaoke in the next room/bar. How fun. I am thinking the only reason this establishment is reviewing well is because people don't care what they eat! The food is so bad, so bad!! The wings really undercooked and cold! Medium burger ordered was charcoal. Paid for food and left , awful ! Very nice people , convenient for apartments around there . Really shame it's got such horrible food.
