I used to come here pretty often, but as of our last visit, the quality has significantly tanked and it's pretty evident that they've started cutting corners. For example, the Panfried Pork Bun used to be my favorite item here but they've changed the recipe significantly. The pork filling used to be a lot larger and juicier...but now when you break open the bun, the filling is so small that half of the bun doesn't even have any meat. 80% of the bun is just dough and it's not fried well and quite greasy. Everything overall was way too greasy, including the crueller and the dry noodles were swimming in oil. I did like the texture of the noodles, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by the oiliness of the broth it was sitting in. It's really sad to see this place fall short since it opened a couple years ago. I'm hoping that they can improve their quality of food as it's really gone downhill since opening.
Good food at a reasonable price. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are fair, making it a great value. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food came out quickly. Overall, a good spot for a satisfying meal, and I'd definitely come back.
I've been to numerous other Yu Noodle spot so I was excited that this opened near me and I was stoked to try it out with my husband. It's quit empty during the weekdays, lunchtime, and we were both stuffed to the brim after finishing the entrees and sharing an appetizer. Would come back again and again as we've recently moved here from downtown dc.
Enjoyed our visit to Yu Noodles in Herndon. We couldn't decide on which soup dumpling to get so we ordered the rainbow to try each one. Our favorite was the green one (shrimp & pork). Inordered the Chicken cooked in scallion oil with sesame oil - very light and delicious. Served with a side of cold shredded carrots, edamame, and cucumber/squash? Not too strong of a scallion flavor but light and refreshing and not too heavy. We enjoyed our meal and wish we lived closer!! Will be back again!
Yu Noodles in Herndon = Hong Kong flavor explosion with a side of "oops, we accidentally ordered half the menu." Came here for a chill lunch with my daughter. We told ourselves we'd "eat light." That was a lie. We left with happy bellies, full hearts, and a mild food coma. Here's what we devoured: * Chili Chicken Noodles - A little dry. Not bad, but needed more sauce to keep up with the rest of the party. * Shrimp Dumplings - Silky, juicy, and absolute perfection. These dumplings have their life together. * Chicken Broth Dumplings - SO GOOD. Non-pork and still packed with deep flavor. Honestly, a rare and beautiful find. * Potato Skewer - Twirly, crispy magic. Like a potato on a carnival ride. * Scallion Pancakes - Flaky, golden, and dangerously snackable. We didn't fight over the last piece... but there were side-eyes. Decor? Lovely and warm. Service? Genuinely friendly. They even checked if we liked everything--and didn't disappear after dropping the food. Respect! Final thoughts: A true foodie delight with a taste of Hong Kong. Four stars only because the chicken noodles didn't wow us--but everything else was a 10/10. We'll be back... maybe with a second stomach.
Came in for lunch on a week day with 4 people. We found the place to have plenty of seats and was warm and very clean. Service was quick and business like. We had 2 orders of the soup dumplings and they were good not great. Not as much liquid as I remember from other places. A couple of us had the dry noodles and they were good. I had one of the soups and it had really good flavor, I just wish it was a little bit hotter (temperature). Overall, a fun place to try with unique food!
Yu Noodles is really good. I've been to both the Fairfax and the Herndon locations and they're pretty similar, so go to whichever is closer. Fairfax was really crowded when we went at prime lunch time (11:30am/12:00p), so be aware. I had the Sesame Paste Noodles with Minced Pork (N7) and the Spicy Oil Pork Wonton (S7). My wife had the Chongqing Noodles (N1). For Sichuan, the spice level is a bit tame - you won't get the Sichuan peppercorn numb-your-lips effect here, but you'll get decent spice. There's a container of hot chili oil on the table if you need a little extra. The wontons were really good. They came out quickly and were nice and hot. The peanuts and small bits of pickled vegetable added some good crunch to this dish. The pork had a little bit of chew to it and was tasty. I was really looking for a dan dan mian dish and I think the closest here is the sesame paste noodles with minced pork. It's not spicy on it's own so I did add a few scoops of hot chili oil. There were a lot of peanuts and whole fresh soybeans in this dish. There are a lot of peanuts in many of the dishes here, so be aware. These noodles had a nice, creamy sesame-y taste to them and overall, the dish was very good. My wife said her dish - Chongqing noodles - didn't taste very spicy at first. She then added a small spoonful of hot chili oil, as well as some soy sauce and vinegar (also at the table). This spiced things up a bit more for her. She particularly liked the fried egg. Now that I mention the soy sauce, both noodle dishes we ordered were not very salty to begin with, almost to the point of not having enough pop in their native flavors. The addition of hot chili oil to my dish was sufficient, but you might find yourself adding a bit of soy sauce if you're used to more salt. On a previous visit, I had these same noodles, but also added a fried pork chop side ($5). If you're into fatty, salty. porky goodness, I recommend adding this as a side -- where else can you get a $5 fried pork chop?
We ordered through Uber Eats and the food was delicious. We ordered the cucumber with garlic sauce and the chicken leg noodle soup. We also ordered the sesame balls. We also added vegetable and a chicken leg and beef and sichuan beef noodle soup. I did order minced pork, however, it never arrived and I did file a complaint about it and we did get a return on it so we are happy about that. However, the service was wonderful. We will most likely be ordering from here again since the food was delicious!
Hard to find this kind of food locally. Being from Philadelphia it was readily available. Amazing service and quality. Get the chickpea soup. Excellent dumplings
I remember a time when all my friends and family raving about the original Yu Noodles in Fairfax. We all tried that and loved the place because that was the only spot we had a few years back that offered that kind of flavor in the area. Now, there have been a bunch of similar places popping up, how does this Yu Noodles in Herndon fare? Pretty average if I have to be honest from the food, the staff, to the décor. I came with a big group and we shared bites. I wasn't wowed by any of the options. Maybe I've become too sensitized or the place is average. Was it bad? No, not at all. It's not memorable to me taste-wise. We ordered soup dumplings, spicy wontons, dried beef noodles, intestine noodles, sour soup-based beef noodles, and fish noodles. None of them stood out to me. The spicy wonton was probably the best one out of them. Even then, I could kind of tell the texture of the wonton was slightly off like it had been in the water too long or like it was pre-boiled and re-boiled before serving. Don't get me wrong though, this place isn't bad at all. If you're feeling authentic Chinese noodles and you don't feel like driving far, it's a decent option.
I've been wanting to visit Yu Noodle for quite a while, but haven't been in an area with one of their locations--until today! After a specialist appointment on a cold and rainy day, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally give it a try. I had to sample their signature noodle dishes, so I went with the Yinbin Spicy Dry Noodles. I also couldn't resist the soup dumplings (both the peppercorn and the pork varieties), and I wanted something with a crunch, so I added the cruller to my order. The soup dumplings were absolutely amazing! Delicious, flavorful, and perfectly crafted--I can't rave enough about how tasty they were. The Yinbin Spicy Dry Noodles were another standout. They felt so light and airy when eating, but the generous portion and hearty toppings made them a satisfying meal. As for the cruller, it was just okay. It's fried dough--nothing special--and I think it could have been elevated with a dip or even a custard filling. Overall, I had a fantastic visit and can't wait to return to try their soups and explore more noodle dishes. Highly recommend giving this place a try, especially on a chilly day!

5/5! Absolutely love Yu Noodles. Having been to the one in Fairfax, and finding out there's one in Herndon that's closer to where I live, I made a trip here immediately! The Food: A friend and I shared some "Spicy Oil Wontons", "Peppercorn Spicy Soup Dumplings" as appetizers. I had the "Chongqing Noodles" as my entree. The shared dishes were delicious! The Spicy oil wontons had so much flavor and toppings that worked well with the chili oil. The Soup Dumplings had a good amount of soup in them, although a little small, were delicious. Add some chili oil into the soup dumplings and that'll hit the spot. My main entree, Chongqing Noodles, were delicious as well. Noodles soaked ina spicy soup of sort, topped with some peanuts, a fried egg and some veggies. Overall a delicious meal! The Service: Service was great! Wasn't busy when we went, so we got sat down immediately. Service was fast as well. no complaints The Atmosphere: Plenty of seating here. The restaurant is spacious, nice and clean as well. Overall, a 5/5! Just as good as the Fairfax location. Staff and food are amazing. Highly recommend coming here! read more

Great place for a quick lunch. The service is super fast and efficient and friendly. The workers here know how to hustle! The spicy dry noodles with pork was amazing. It really hot the spot. I enjoyed a Thai iced tea with my meal and it was all finished too fast! I will have to come back for more. read more
This place was close by to an event I was attending, and I'd heard great things about it from a friend -- so I decided to swing by & check it out. From the exterior, this looks like Just Another Asian Noodle Shop on the block. Parking is plentiful, as it's within the lineup of other shops in the complex. First-timer here -- went moderate spicy, noodle soup style. The Sichuan Beef Noodle Soup is as spicy as it gets for newcomers, but certifiably worth it. Flavorful, savory noodle soup with hearty greens thrown into the mix, and the beef was thick, tasty, and very juicy. I ate the noodle soup with both the big spoon and chopsticks, even though I faltered more often than not with the ol' pair o' sticks. Long story short, eternal runny nose and went thru many a napkin, but 'twas worth it. Flavorful meat and spices are kinda my jam. When done, ask for the washroom out back to clean up. Belly full, and huge fan of the spicy Chinese food. One of my new go-to & favorite Asian spots in the Herndon area. read more
Came by for a quick stop for lunch. Very empty and got seated quickly. Tried the Sichuan Beef Noodle Soup and the Spicy Marinade Beef & Tripe. Food was great on both. The servings were large and the price was good. Only complain was the beef noodle soup had a little too much oil floating around in it otherwise the food was great. read more
Went there for lunch on a weekday, the place got crowded really fast. The tea is teabags in the hotpot, so skipped it. The Chicken Leg Noodle has subtle flavor and the chicken was perfectly cooked! The Dry Minced pork noodle was the best among everything we had. Peppercorn soup dumpling came after as they cooked it upon order, was super fresh and delicious. Service was great, they prefer tips in cash so would recommend to carry some. read more
DELICIOUS! This place felt authentic and I enjoyed the ambiance. I would definitely recommend this spot! The service was great and the prices were moderate. I got the peppercorn spicy dumpling and the Yibin spicy fry noodles. The portions for the noodles were okay for the price. I wish it came with a little more. However, for me it was filling, I don't think it would be for my boyfriend. The dumplings with soup was amazingggg!! They also have tea that come in traditional tea pots. read more

I've always gone to the Fairfax location of Yu Noodles so this was the first time at the Herndon one. Pretty much the same atmosphere. Food was just as good here so I'm happy they have different locations now. read more
Looks like an average Asian noodle shop from the outside, but they sure know how to make a good noodle soup. The food here is Sichuan style, which means that you're gonna find a lot of spicy food, and not just regular spicy food. The spice in Sichuan food is called "mala" and lingers for a long time rather than hitting immediately. I got the intestine noodle soup, which I found to be delicious. I grew up eating organs a lot, so if this sounds gross, they have other options that do not include organs. However, if you've got the cajones, I'd recommend getting it because it's really good. As for the scallion pancakes, they're a classic - crispy and delicious. read more
Yummy lunch.... My goal was soup to sooth my sore throat... the chicken noodle was perfect! Hubby had pan fried pork and chive which we love and this time tried N7 sesame paste noodles with minced pork. This is a dry dish not very spicy with lots of soybeans ... he enjoyed. This place is always bustling and servers helpful if you have questions. Loving that they remember we don't like cucumber in our water.... Just our preference. We were looking forward to giving Yu Noodles a try. So, we came here on a Sunday around 5 p.m. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated plus given menus. Having looked at the menu at home, we knew what we wanted to try. Our server, who was the one who seated us, was very friendly and prompt when taking our order. No sooner did he take our order when another staff member brought us a pitcher of water that had a few cucumber slices in it. When we asked for forks, they were given to us. We ordered Hot and Sour Foon and Minced Pork Over Rice with Poached Egg. The food arrived in a timely fashion with the pork dish coming first. As for the food ... There was a big disconnect as what was described in the menu didn't fully match what we were given. The "minced pork" dish was supposed to have (per the menu) "halved poached eggs", "gravy" and "boiled bok choy" plus rice. The rice was there but instead of poached eggs, we were given 2 hard cooked fried eggs. The bok choy portion was very skimpy and it was pickled, not boiled. The gravy was watery. While the dish tasted fine, actually having a real poached egg and more bok choy would have made for a far better dish. The Hot and Sour Foon, according to the menu, was supposed to be "savory, spicy and tangy". Plus it was supposed to have "mushrooms, tofu, and bamboo shoots", none of which were to been seen in the bowl. That said, it did have noodles and minced pork. One surprise ingredient was peanuts. All I could think of was someone with a peanut allergy wouldn't have known that by looking at the menu description. This dish was spicy but not extremely so, which was fine with us. I thought it was also on the bitter side but my husband found it to be on the tangy side. We really were pleased with the overall service given by the waitstaff. My husband had dropped his fork on the floor. Before he could ask for another one, a server brought it over to him when she saw he dropped the other one. Payment was painless. The server had a hand held device. All we had to do was touch our CC to the device. It asked how much of a tip we wanted to leave. When my husband checked 20%, our server was very surprised and he thanked us. Maybe, as time goes by, they will get their act totally together when it comes to the menu. Thus, we will give them lots of time to do so before returning. This a very reasonably priced place which is nice to see. read more

Another amazing and delicioussssssssss visit to Yu Noodles. All of my comments in my first visit post stand and ring true. This second time, we tried two different noodle dishes - N7 Sesame Noodles with Minced Pork $11 and N4 Beef Noodle Soup $13. Both were hearty portions and delicious, fresh ingredients, piping hot out of the kitchen. We couldn't resist ordering the same 2 appetizers we ordered the first time, to accompany our noodle dishes - the Scallion Pancakes ($8) and the Pan-fried Chive and Pork Dumplings (6 for $8). Dim sum vibes y'all. On a cold winter night, we ordered a hot tea $2 which arrived in a heavy, beautiful and ornate cast iron teapot (see my pic) - JUST BEAUTIFUL. I felt so fancy. :) The whole dinner was about $56 before tip (which included a couple sodas (cans only, no refills). PAY WITH CASH FOR A 5% DISCOUNT OFF THE BILL - such a deal! This place is FANTASTICALLY AUTHENTIC and such a gem! read more
I've been to the Fairfax location and was so excited to see they opened another location near me! We went on Mother's day weekend and there was a line waiting to get in. Fortunately, I had called to make reservations prior to coming in and it certainly came in handy. We were able to get seated right away and ordered 8 different dishes. Overall, the service was good and the food came out quickly. The standout items for me are the scallion pancakes (super crispy) and the sour and spicy cool noodle with beef. I also enjoyed the sesame paste with minced pork. I'd say the locations are comparable in terms of the consistency of the flavors. I'll definitely be coming back here soon! Side note: the hot tea was extremely watered down so I would not recommend ordering that here. Otherwise, I have no complaints! read more

Very happy to see this place open up in Herndon. Anytime we're in the fairfax area, we stop by for food. Now that it's closer, we'll be going all of the time! Not many decent soup dumpling spots around so it's nice to see this place open up! We went to the togo option today and it still hits the spot! We got the Pork soup dumplings, Cucumber, Beef with rice and poached egg, Pork with rice and poached egg, and Spicy wontons. All of it was delicious! They packed it well. I highly recommend this place if you haven't tried it. If you have a chance to eat the Soup Dumplings fresh, go for it! We'll be back! read more
Great authentic Chinese food! The soup dumplings and Yibin Dry Spicy noodles were excellent! The soup in the soup dumplings was plentiful and the dumpling skin was nice and thin. The Yibin noodles were spicy and flavorful! The beef noodles soup didn't have enough soup for my liking and the beef was cut a little too thin. The restaurant space was spacious and clean. A lot bigger than the other Yu Noodle locations. read more

Came here because it was viral on tiktok! I went on a Saturday afternoon and the place was pretty empty. Plenty of space - it was definitely roomy and spacious. We ordered mostly dumplings, which was not bad. Some of them were kind of dry. The peppercorn spicy chicken is definitely an acquired taste, I did not enjoy it at all. The mango sago dessert was good, but there could have more mangos in it. All of the food came out pretty quick and the service was ok. I noticed that they had more carry- out more than people dinning in. read more

With all the closures due to the pandemic I'm glad to see a new restaurant opening and better yet it's not some big chain restaurant. We've been to the Yu Noodles in Ffx so now we can make the 5 minute drive. Nice decor and design by the owners. I'm sure they spent a pretty penny on the restaurant renovation. As for the food it isn't your typical Chinese American food so be aware. If you are looking for something more authentic and different give Yu Noodles a shot. The xiao long bao are good...not the best but good. The spicy wonton have good flavor. The noodle dishes are probably the way to go. Yu Noodles brings some more variety to the Herndon area and I'm glad they are here. Go out and support 'em. read more

Fresh in house noodles? Yes, please! I know I'm late on the scene here but we've recently been exploring Herndon and heard about this gem. I brought my kids here on a chilly day (best time go eat noodle soup btw), and we had ourselves a grand time stuffing ourselves. First off, the ambiance is neutral, warm, and clean. We walked in and were immediately seated. The waitress was friendly and even made suggestions to which items were popular for kids. The menu has several options with descriptions but I still had a hard time imagining what it would be. We ordered the Chicken Leg noodle soup, the Pork chop noodle soup, and Spicy Wontons. Of course, hot tea to wash it all down with. It hit the spot! Hot broth, soft chewy noodles, juicy chicken meat, crispy and juicy fried pork chop which was plated on the side so it stayed crispy and not soggy in the soup. I mean, that's thoughtful, is it not? Now, I visit weekly with my family and I'm thrilled to know they have two other locations so that I'm never too far away from some delicious tummy filling goodness! read more

We were trying to pay with cash for the 5% back, BUT THEN THEY TOOK IT ALL AS THEIR TIP!!! That being said, I was probably going to give them it all for the tip, but the fact that they assumed it, and didn't say anything was VERY aggravating! Besides that though, this is a new relatively new restaurant in the Herndon plaza, and really delicious and authentic Sichuan Cuisine with lots of aesthetic tableware. We ordered the cold noodles, pan fried dumplings, and the xiao long bao, and it was all delicious! Also the water was cucumber infused++++!! Love that! Affordable, tasty, and very efficiently run restaurant. Went two nights in a row and everything was flavorful and well seasoned. Really enjoyed the soups- hit home on a cold night. I like the ambiance- has a very mom and pop feel. You can see the chefs hard at work and the servers never stopped moving. Though it was busy both times, it was very efficiently run. read more

We went to Yu Noodles right around 8.26pm, they were kind enough to let us order since the kitchen apparently closes at 8.30pm. We ordered a variety of things but I got their most famous dish which is their minced pork, rice, and egg. It was amazing!! Very delicious. We got the soup dumplings as well, but I rate it 5.5/10, there wasnt enough soup in it. My sister got the noodles and she loved it! read more
PREFACE: This is a rating compared to other places I've been to around the world, not compared to other places in the region. If I had to rate this compared to other dumpling spots in the area, this would be FOUR stars. Overall it was great service and definitely hit the spot for our cravings of soup dumplings but nothing spectacular compared to other places in NY or even Maryland. Will definitely go back to fulfill further cravings! read more
