Location of this restaurant maybe middle of nowhere but worth going. You get great food with good value and friendly service here.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Yen's kitchen is an excellent homey place that brings together familiar flavors with those that bring you back to mainland China or Taiwan.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The crispy beef is a crowd pleaser as it's definitely something that can appeal to anyone's tastebuds. The popcorn chicken reminds you of street Taiwanese food that leaves you craving a fresh beer. The buns are so soft and the filling is perfect to distribute amongst the buns. Finally for the adventurous, the sour fish dish brings you back to what authentic cuisine is like with all the funk and taste. I would say that the sushi options are great for those wanting a different type of dish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Parking is plentiful and the ambiance is great for family or friends to enjoy a meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Great service, duck skin was nice and crispy and the pancakes were nice and thin, soup was ok , could use a bit more flavor and wasn't salty enough, fish and pea shoots with garlic were good, didn't care much for the chicken and tofu- kind of bland with little texture. We had some guava tea on the side that was refreshing.

Still great - tasty and adjusted by letting them know we wanted less salt to keep it from being too salty for our taste buds. King mushroom, tofu and pepper was great. Solid moo shu pork and the salt pepper chicken was great. Service can move slowly when they are busy, which can be at all meal times! They have a discount for cash, too.

My friend and I ordered from here and it was delicious! The service was fast and quick! The food was so delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is definitely beautiful as well![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will definitely order from here again!!

Our son asked for his birthday meal to be orange chicken. So we found this place on Yelp! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is bright and clean and all the staff were extremely friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a Sat night, so it was fairly busy as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the tomato egg tofu soup for 2 to start. This was a big serving and very delicious soup. Our two young kids loved it and asked for seconds. We then ordered the orange chicken (not spicy) and the beef bitter melon black bean sauce. Both were extremely delicious! I wanted to try some sushi. But I felt the prices were a little high, so I decided against it. Overall the experience was great and we'd definitely go back if we are in the area.

Good authentic Taiwanese food in Ashburn. You know it's good when most of the customers are speaking mandarin. The scallion pancakes and Taiwanese style salty crispy chicken were superb. Service was quick and speak both English and mandarin. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decor is nice and authentic Chinese, and seating is nice busy when we were there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I came here because my friend highly recommended their squid dish, so I knew I had to order the Three-Cup Squid. I also wanted to try their Chinese water spinach, so we ordered these two dishes to start, just for the two of us. The squid tasted fantastic, with vermicelli at the bottom to absorb all the sauce. However, one thing that bothered me was that the squid innards were still inside, even though the staff said everything is eatable except the hard, plastic-like spinal cord of the squid had been removed. The water spinach was crunchy and flavorful. After that, we ordered one more dish--the pepper salt pork ribs. Unfortunately, they didn't have much flavor and were quite bland. I don't think this is one of their signature dishes here.

Stopped in for dinner with my daughter and it was crowded so there was a slight wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seems like many regulars come here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was delicious and tasty. The owners are super nice. Definitely will be back whenever we are in the area.

Stopped by after my daughter's school dance and as always, Yen's never disappoints! As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by hello's from each worker and the ambiance is very welcoming. Now, let's get to the good part! Here are the dishes we had tonight: Crab Rangoon: 10/10. Their crab rangoons are tasty with their homemade hot mustard sauce. The flavor of the cream cheese filling is perfect. And they don't skimp on the filling which is a huge plus considering most places barely put any in! Hot & Sour soup: 8/10. Just try it. You won't be disappointed! Taiwanese fried chicken: 10/10! This is a staple everytime we come here. It's crispy, flavorful, and just DELICIOUS! Trust me, this is one of the best dishes here and a must try. Orange chicken: 9/10. It's flavorful and perfect amount of sweetness. The boneless chicken are the perfect bite size. I'm already craving for this dish again. Chicken lo mein: 8/10. I'm picky with lo mein and this one is always cooked the way I like it. Not your typical spaghetti noodle type, but a flat, not too thin type of noodle. It's really good and my daughter's favorite. I ask for their homemade chili oil on the side and mix it in. It adds a delicious flavor to it. Can't wait to come back!!

    Pot of Jasmine Tea

Our most recent visit here was the second time for us. The first visit, we went to dinner with friends who told us this was their favorite Chinese restaurant. In fact, they go so often that the staff knows them and chats with them. We enjoyed the food and the company. I didn't take any photos during this visit. The ambiance clearly says "Chinese restaurant" with its decor. Both times, we found the seating to be comfortable and the tables were spacious. We came here without our friends recently on a Saturday. Service is great---friendly and efficient. We each ordered hot and sour soup to start. To drink, we got a pot of jasmine tea. For our main courses, we ordered Ma Po Tofu with pork and Mooshu beef. The food was very well prepared. The hot and sour soup had a generous amount of stock in it and the right amount of heat. The jasmine tea was served hot. The only problem was that eventually we let it sit too long in the pot that it got bitter, which is often a problem with tea. The Ma Po Tofu was excellent---it had heat but not too much. In other words, we were able to enjoy all the flavors in this dish without the spice drowning it out. The Mooshu beef came with 6 pancakes, which we found to be a generous amount. The beef was tender and the veggies were tender crisp. The side of plum sauce added a nice layer of flavor. Overall, a great meal both times we were here. Next time we want Chinese food, this is where we will go!

My parents favorite restaurant in the area! Came here on a slow weekend and we were seated immediately. We ordered Sashimi, pipa tofu, crystal sugar pork thigh, and the string beans with salted egg. For the sashimi, my mom wanted fresh fish but had never had it before. The staff was super helpful in letting us know what to order and what everything would come out as. Next came our main meal. The pork thigh was absolutely enormous. Bigger than my head. They helped us cut the behemoth up. Absolutely delicious. The surprise of the meal was the pipa tofu. Super savory and tasty. Never heard of the dish but we were feeling adventurous so went for it. They say their tofu is handmade in the back, and we believed it since the texture was really unique and the flavor was super strong compared to store bought tofu.

Chiko is no exception. A Korean-Chinese fusion concept with bright yellow and black decor, a friendly and responsive wait staff and a unique menu that won't be found elsewhere, we're working our way through the variety of bowls, dumplings and entrees that all combine multiple sweet, sour, and spicy elements as a foundation for the dishes. We knew nothing about Korean food, moving here from Colorado where everything was with steak or burgers. (I'm exaggerating a bit). The diverse population of the area is clearly reflected in the number and variety of restaurants. If you're not familiar with Korean food this is a good place to start at reasonable prices. They have a liquor license we. Parking is ample.

The dining room isn't very big, and since we came for an early dinner, we had our pick and chose a four-top with a view. Well... the view was basically the Paris Baguette that's across the street. The general manager came by to take our order. To drink, I had a mocktail, "house-made lime cooler," which consists of "pureed Asian pear, lime juice, and Sichuan tea." I found it to be very refreshing. My husband had a Coors Light. For my entree, I chose "Soy glazed brisket" which consists of "2Fifty Texas BBQ brisket, soy brined soft egg, furitake butter, pickled peppers, steamed rice". I liked this entree. It was mildly spiced; the pieces of brisket were properly prepared; the pickled peppers added some heat; and the soy-brined soft egg was a nice touch. The egg was soft-boiled, and the egg yolk provided a nice flavor. My husband chose "JJayJangmeon" which consists of "shrimp, scallops, roasted black bean sauce, noodles". The dish is made with wheat noodles. It arrived hot and with a nice vegetable garnish on top. The greenness of the vegetables made a nice contrast to the dark brown sauce. That brown sauce was hot, mild, and thoroughly coated the dish's ingredients. It seemed a bit unusual to see a dish with shrimp and scallops coated in a mild black bean sauce, but it worked nicely. The shrimp arrived tail-less, and the scallops were soft and not rubbery, both properly prepared. I was glad not to have to fight with the shrimp tails. All in all, we were glad we made a return visit.

A lot of the NoVA hibachi spots aren't open for lunch on the weekends. We chose Sakura Grill because it was one of the few that were. We came for a Sunday lunch and it was nearly empty. Service was pleasant, but the hibachi chef did the bare minimum. We started with a couple appetizers - the crab rangoons, takoyaki, and an eel roll. All were satisfactory and brought out quickly, but noticeably absent from the takoyaki were the bonito flakes. I will commend the restaurant for being mindful of dietary restrictions. We had someone in our party who requested no onions in their hibachi, and the chef was able to accommodate without any issues. We also had someone who ordered the vegetable hibachi, and the staff asked whether that diner was a vegetarian and advised that the hibachi meals came with shrimp. Another plus was that they had a sink in the dining area to wash your hands. As for the hibachi presentation, the chef lit the grill on fire, spun the spatulas around at the intro, tossed the egg up and down a few times, did the onion volcano (though poorly executed), and attempted to throw a piece of zucchini into our mouths. There was an option for a sake shot from a squeeze bottle, but we all declined. The chef relied on a few gimmicks - a silly squirt bottle and a clucking rubber chicken. He didn't have a lot of showmanship or pizazz or any wow factor. The chef wasn't very engaging - he might as well have cooked the food in the back kitchen. This was my brother-in-law's first time at a hibachi restaurant, but the lack of razzle-dazzle in the cooking did not impress and left something to be desired. I ordered the filet mignon hibachi. Each hibachi meal comes with a small house salad and hibachi soup (mushroom based broth with fried onions). You can also swap out for the miso soup, if you like. The filet mignon was nice and tender. I could've done with more flavor, but I guess that's what the dipping sauces are for. One of my favorite things about going to a hibachi place is the fried rice. This fried rice was average, and the veggies were also average... everything was average. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff were kind enough to sing happy birthday twice - once from the hibachi chef with the onion volcano and once from the waitstaff with a festive drum and tambourine. I will credit the waitstaff for providing effective service, but the food and hibachi experience were pretty mid overall.
