Came here because I was craving good Mexican food and I also was starving - ordered the carne asada nachos and LOVED it!! The chips and all the ingredients were perfectly proportioned and for the first time, I had enough chips for the entire dish! I've been here a few times and thought it was pretty good, but last time I went the food just wasn't that great. The pollo burrito I ordered fell apart instantly, which clearly revealed the guacamole I had paid extra for was non-existent. In fact the majority of the burrito was comprised of incredibly salty beans. Avocado salsa which again was an add-on charge was completely bland. Individual tacos are $4.30 (at least when ordering ahead on their platform). They're small and tasteless. I'm sure Yuca's will do fine with the steady crowd of business attired patrons walking in from the tonier parts of Pasadena and South Pas, but for taco or burrito lovers, save your money. read more

The Pasadena location in many ways stays true to the original Los Feliz location, like its existence in the most unassuming place (in this case nestled beside a liquor store). Living in LA for so many years and now living in Pasadena with my little family, I can't express how happy I am that they are here. Seriously! I adore Margie and Dora for suggesting their fries to us. Daughter and I finally made it over to the Pasadena location after several years of tasty eats at the Hollywood location and many decades of the best authentic Mexican food in L.A at the Hillhurst location. daughter was literally raised on Mama's tamales. We'd pick up a dozen on Saturdays to go and pack them warm in a container for her lunch every week when she went to Ivanhoe. She's almost 30 now and we still love everything on the menu. Have you ever tried their burger? Or their fries? The fries are a top secret concoction that Dora will never reveal the process to you (or you might end up in the L.A. River wearing cement shoes) all kidding aside, those fries are fantastic. Of course daughter got the cochinita pibil torta and as always, top notch. Hasn't changed over the decades. The Cochinita Pibil plate is excellent. Other dishes are fair to good. Quality ingredients, but not particularly imaginative or interesting preparations. The service at the Pasadena location, however, is absolutely atrocious. I live very close, and it is very convenient. But that is offset by the fact that probably two-thirds of the time I don't get what I ordered. Mild sauce rather than hot sauce, flour tortilla rather than corn, missing items, etc. When you ask them about it, it is obvious they don't really care. Be forewarned: unwrap and check your order before leaving the window. read more

Can't believe I live close enough to order from this place! I had the pihbil taco and asada burrito. Both were delicious! I found myself halfway through the burrito before I even considered using the provided sauce, the smoked meat was that distractingly tasty. I wasn't familiar with the history of Yuca's and only stopped by based on strong yelp reviews. I was not expecting what is basically a "taco stand" with no indoor seating at this Pasadena location. The helpful young man took my order for nachos carnitas with black beans... and my God! The best - tasting food I've had in a long time. Only about $8 for large portion of quality, perfectly seasoned food. And I wasn't charged extra for a side of jalapeños either! Cannot wait to return. read more

This might be the worst Mexican fast food restaurant in Pasadena. I ordered a Carne Asada Burrito. I got a flour tortilla with rubbery meat that should probably have been trashed a week or two ago. What a treat I was so skeptic about trying it out and what a treat. I've been here over and over trying something different every time and Everything is amazing. Not your typical Mexican food, they specialize in Yucatán region of mexico where they use different spices from the rest of mexico. The Cochinita tacos are so so flavorful and they have the best steak sandwich I've ever had. The skirt steak is seasoned just right and cooked perfectly! Today I had their hamburger and I have to say it blows away any other hamburger I've ever had! If you haven't made it to south Pasadena you must try it. read more
