My friend ordered the fajita plate with chicken, steak, and shrimp, served with rice and beans... it looked amazing and she loved it! We also enjoyed nopal, guacamole, and of course chips and salsa. Great googly moogly, what a restaurant. It's definitely a top 10 Mexican spot for me. My best friend and I eat here frequently, and will happily pay to eat their great plates of mole con pollo, enchiladas, and sizzling fajita plates. That is if the little starter salsitas and fresh tortilla chips don't fill you up. Don't skip out on their drink menu too as their blended and classic margaritas and cocktails are clutch as well, and may be deceptively boozier than they taste. Cabrera's Mexican Cuisine has a roomy dining area, which is perfect for families, couples, and groups. Our server was super friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated. That said, the service overall could have been more efficient. Some items were missing from our order, like tortillas for my fajitas and onions and cilantro for my friend's tacos. After our food came out, we weren't really checked in on, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy during lunch. The food itself was just okay. The carne asada taco plate was a bit disappointing. The meat was tough and lacked seasoning. The trio fajitas and burrito were a bit better, but still underwhelming. The proteins in the fajitas didn't have much flavor, even with cheese on top. Given the price point, we expected better. The saving grace was dessert. We ordered churros with ice cream, and they were honestly the highlight of the meal. We recently came here on a weekday evening and entered to a near-empty room. We were seated pretty quickly and then completely ignored for what seemed to be "forever". I finally waved a server down and he took our order, but drinks took a really long time to arrive, as did the food. As usual, our dinner was ok, but the service was kind of lacking. The final straw came when another (female) server brought the little machine with the bill over and she'd automatically selected a 22% tip. W.T.F.??? I never tip that much, and in this case that wasn't going to happen b/c of the subpar service we'd experienced. I thought this was low-class (bordering on sneaky) and that Cabrera's was/is better. Not a bad place lots if seating and pretty fast service we order led a few different plates. Carnitas Michocan, Mocajete Norteño, shrimp, Caldo de Res and forbdeinks Michaladas. The Michaladas needed help,the person that made them must have been new at bartending they were super watery. The Mocajete was very good wifey and son loved it!!! The Carnitas Michocan needed something nothing sure maybe it was the beans not your typical homemade with Cotija... They tasted more like from a can... My daughter really enjoyed the Caldo de Res the bowl was huge!!! Food, Ambiance and Service was exceptional. Krissy our server was awesome and so attentive. I wasn't sure what drink to have, Krissy suggested the "Beso" and oh it didn't disappoint. My husband order the shrimp ceviche and I ordered the shrimp coctel, so good 10/10. Cold food The two servers were talking the chef was backed up but the place was empty complete opposite from my last experience there 2 years ago. Place has gone down hill. This is a great place to go and watch the game and enjoy good food! Also they will be bringing back karaoke on Friday nights. All of the staff were very friendly. Krissi, the manager, stopped by all tables and had lively and authentic conversations with patrons. My dad was thrilled with the steak tostada salad. Looking for Mexican in Pasadena, we found Cabrera's Mexican Cuisine on Yelp. We liked that we saw vegan options on the menu. They offer soyrizo as a meat option and potato tacos as À la carte. Our service was excellent, young man very personable and fun interactive with our group. When he found out we were celebrating my mom's birthday, they dimmed the lights, came out with a piece of Flan with a lite up sparkler. The food and drinks were plentiful and delicious! I usually enjoy my visit here but I have never come close to closing time we walked in at 823 thought that would be plenty of time to order before they closed at 9pm the staff is usually so friendly I never thought that I would be treated as if we were an inconvenience immediately I felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave but my husband encouraged us to stay and honestly it wasn't worth rushing through 250 dollars worth of food and drinks . Word of advice do not go near closing time they do not welcome their guest and are ready to go home long before actual closing bar stools were already put up mopping and sweeping and half the lights were off. I'm a huge fan of Cabreras! They took care of me at another location and after having an incredible experience in Arcadia, we decided to try Pasadena as well! Very consistent food and drinks. I went to the Pasadena court today, and left early so wanted to try a new spot around it. I was feeling like Mexican food, and I'm glad I checked the reviews prior to coming in. The place is cute, it was pretty quiet for lunch but it was nice for me. I ordered the Cocido plate (caldo de res) and let me tell you, it reminded me of my mother's caldo! So good!! Super disappointed bc I had heard about this restaurant through Instagram and was excited to try it out. I had went on a Sunday bc I had seen they had happy hour from certain times on Instagram. When I asked the waiters, they said it already ended even though on Instagram it showed different. They did do the happy hour for us though. All was okay (waitress was slow & it was a slow day. There was about 5 tables) when a big group of about 15 came in. That's went the service went down. Our waitress attended to them and neglected us. We have been customers at Cabrera's in Arcadia, where we had an exceptional experience, and we decided to try out the Cabrera's in Pasadena. To be honest, it was a disappointing experience. The service was horrible. They weren't paying attention to the customers, didn't refill any drinks, forgot to bring key parts of a dish, took too long on dishes, etc. Speaking of the dishes, the food wasn't warm, and the waitress kept making excuses for her absence, not only for our table, but for the rest of the tables in the restaurant. We had noticed that all of the tables weren't properly attended either. We had get up to ask about the tortillas that came with an order of ours, and we had to go and ask for the check since they didn't bring it to us. I have lived in Pasadena for years and somehow managed to avoid this absolute DISASTER of an establishment until now. After being fooled by the suspiciously glowing reviews, my sister, mom and I made the grave mistake of trying it on a Friday night. The hostess greeted us with all the warmth of a parking ticket, barely acknowledging our existence before dumping us at a table and vanishing. A male employee brought a basket of chips to our table. We ate the chips that eventually disappeared, leaving nothing but crumbs and our growing thirst. Still, not a SINGLE staff member bothered to check on us or even make eye contact. The neglect was so appalling that we finally gave up and walked out. The most revolting part? Not ONE employee cared enough to say a word as we left. The indifference was truly nauseating. I am absolutely DISGUSTED by the complete lack of basic customer service. I wouldn't return to this place if they were giving away free food. Our new favorite restaurant! The food was the best we've had in forever but the service was half the excellent experience! Christian was our server and he was truly fantastic! The margaritas were next level, I had the passion fruit, hubby had the jalapeño, both were mind blowing! The chips, guac & salsa were all homemade & full of flavor! For lunch, I had the pacera enchiladas that are grilled -new to me but now my fave! There's so much thought put into this food and these flavors! They're also super dog friendly on the outside patio seating and precious pie Christian brought our pup a fresh bowl of water. We stumbled across Cabrera's and it quickly became our favorite place for Mexican food. Always greeted when we walk in, fast friendly service and some of the most authentic we have found in the area. The spicy green salsa is the best, fresh chips and the margaritas are a must try. Portions are plenty, great for sharing or taking leftovers home. There is a bar area that is separated from the restaurant, along with an outside patio. Music is always appropriate and not too loud that you can't hear a conversation. Parking is easy, out front on the street or in the back lot that is shared with another small restaurant. We definitely have become regulars here and highly recommend a stop in for lunch or dinner! My parents came in yesterday to celebrate valentines day really busy as expected on valentines day but their experience there was poor they were so busy they handed them the food with no utensils they couldn't get ahold of their waiter so they asked who could've been the manager and he make a horrible remark saying " You should've started with your hands" and forgot to mention they charged them for extra tortillas and never got them.
