Had a great dinner here tonight! The sweet and sour chicken was crispy and hot! The sauce was delicious and the sticky rice a perfect texture. My husband tried the pork katsu and really enjoyed it. It had been a little while since we've ordered from here. We decided to get the garlic chicken, kung pao chicken and egg rolls. We thought both of the dishes had good flavor, but I may ask for extra spicy on the kung pao next time. This is probably one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Wichita! They have a variety of dishes to choose from and the majority of things I've ordered have been really tasty. It's located near the super Target on Greenwich and has ample parking. The interior is nice and spacious with plenty of tables. The workers are all friendly and helpful; however, every time I've been here the food takes a while to come out. Service is a little slow, but the food is always hot and fresh when it does arrive. I've tried several dishes from here: the hot braised chicken, mapo tofu, black bean noodles, and triple crown. Hot braised chicken (5/5): The chicken is so delicious and moist! The sauce is sweet, tangy, and a little spicy. It's super yummy and I'd highly recommend ordering it. It comes with a side of brown or white rice and your choice of sweet and sour soup or egg drop soup. My boyfriend and I always get this dish with the egg drop soup and it hits the spot every time! Mapo tofu (4/5): You can add ground pork for $1.50, but I opted not to. The sauce was spicy and slightly sweet and the tofu was soft and warm. The dish was pretty good, but it wasn't the best mapo tofu I've had. Black bean noodles (5/5): These noodles were delicious!! I really appreciated all the chunks of zucchini, onions, and pork! A lot of black bean noodle places I've been to tend to skimp on the pork, but Tasty House gives you a decent amount. The sauce was flavorful and delicious. It was overall really yummy and I added spicy garlic sauce to it to make it spicier to suit my tastes. Triple Crown (1/5): This was the most disappointing dish I've had from here. It comes with shrimp, beef, and pork with a variety of vegetables like broccoli and water chestnut. The sauce was extremely bland and had no flavor, which made the dish pretty underwhelming. I'm from Seattle where we have lots of great Chinese/Asian food. Wichita is probably not known for their Chinese food, but I crossed my fingers and gave Tasty House a try. Pleasantly surprised. The hot and sour soup was completely on point. As good as any I've had anywhere. Then came the curry chicken with vegetables. It was really well done. A bit salty but that's normal for most Chinese restaurants. The fried rice side dish was simple and satisfying. The price for $30 dinner included me having to cook my tofu as well as as the condiments that go with Pad Thai. Also, the sauce provided for my Crab Rangoon was barely enough for 1, let alone 4. I question all of the five star reviews. What happened!? I'm only giving it an extra star (rather than the one it deserves) because the food was hot. There's no other redeeming value. We placed the order online because they didn't answer the phone. We went with the ASAP carry out option, which gave us a 30-45 minute wait. No problem. We paid and we're anxious to pick it up because we had hungry teens. We arrived at Tasty House at the 35 minute mark, and they hadn't even started the food yet. They said we should go to the nearby Target to wait. When pressed, they said the wait was going to be 20 minutes. More than 45 minutes later, the food was finally ready. They got the order right, but it didn't matter. The food was terrible. It was inedible. I've never experienced Chinese food that tasted like literally nothing. The extra $1.50 we paid for fried rice? It was tasteless. This isn't a sign of COVID; other food we enjoyed to cleanse our taste buds tasted fine. This was truly poorly made food. We don't know how they turned fried rice and lo mein into trash. Usually Chinese is too salty; Tasty House is the opposite. It's tasteless. To make matters worse, the crab Rangoon and egg rolls were fried almost to burnt, and it wasn't really crab Rangoon. It was more like cream cheese wontons. I do not recommend to anyone. Some people here have no tastebuds! I have been here 2 times now, and they never dissapoint. I usually get their salt and pepper shrimp with kalbi short ribs. Both are top notch! I would like to try out their Ja Jang Mein next when I come back, as I typically don't see this at other Asian spots. Customer service is also top notch here. First off the ambiance of the restaurant is a bit more modern than the typical Chinese restaurants you'll find. The decor gives off a nice clean vibe that's aesthetically pleasing. I have only eaten here twice and each time I ordered ja jang mein. The first time I ordered it from their website and picked it up. The containers were jam packed with the noodles, so it's a good idea to transfer it to another bowl and mix it up there. Their version comes with more meat than most places and has plenty of sesame oil. The scent of the oil is quite strong but somehow makes the dish even tastier. My experience dining in for the second time was quite nice. Everything was clean, the inside of the store was very modern looking. The drinks were self-served and employees all masked up. We used to really enjoy this place. However, lately it has been terrible. We went here for dinner and the food was not good. Their "orange chicken" is sweet and sour chicken chicken with sweet and sour sauce poured over it. The worst of all is that we came with our three kids who are aged 7, 10, and 12. They were sitting at a high table beside our table because there were only tables of four. The lady working told our kids they had to move and sit by us when they were literally just sitting there. My first experience here was a great one as I was looking for both a healthy and delicious meal. I picked this place out and am glad I gave it a chance.
