For a satisfying, no-frills gopchang experience, Gopchang on Fire 2 gets the job done. I believe Gopchang on Fire is the OG gopchang restaurant brand/chain in Georgia. If you're unfamiliar with gopchang, it's Korean grilled cow and pig intestines. It's like Korean barbecue, from the in-table grills to the banchan (side dishes), but instead of beef brisket and pork belly, it's intestines and tripe. Unfortunately, just the words "intestines" and "tripe" are an immediate turnoff for a lot of people. To each their own. That said, if you're open-minded and/or the adventurous type when it comes to food, I encourage you to try one of these gopchang restaurants. I think gopchang is delicious and I've yet to be disappointed. If you've had intestines and tripe from other places/cuisines (e.g., Chinese, Latin American), throw those experiences out the window. Korean gopchang is different in almost every way -- taste, smell, and texture (more on that below). Set aside any preconceived notions. Don't knock it till you've tried it. Since I reviewed the original Gopchang on Fire in 2016, several gopchang restaurants have opened in metro Atlanta, mostly in Gwinnett County, of course. It's a good sign Atlanta can sustain at least seven gopchang restaurants now, by my count. Next door to Gopchang on Fire 2 is Jok Ga A Dong Chim, which is a great bossam place, by the way: https://bit.ly/2ThqTTx Bossam is another Korean cuisine: boiled pork wraps. It's really good and better for less-adventurous eaters. Gopchang on Fire 2 had a pretty streamlined menu. The combos are the way to go and then I suggest adding a side of rice or noodles (e.g., Kimchi Fried Rice for $4.99). Also, gopchang goes well with soju. The restaurant sold a few different flavors, priced at $12.99 per bottle. There were only two combos: A ($59.99) and B ($69.99). They came with the exact same things. The only difference was the portion size. Combo A was designed for 3 people and Combo B was designed for 4 people. My friend and I, just two of us, completely demolished one Combo A. It came with: * Gop Chang - small intestine of cow * Dae Chang ("big innards") - large intestine of cow * Mak Chang ("last tripe") - upper lining of last stomach of cow * Tuek Yang - upper lining of first stomach of cow * Yeomtong - cow heart Everything was yummy. Unlike the intestines I've had at a lot of non-Korean restaurants, these tasted very clean and lean. No unpleasant smell or odor and not overly fatty or oily. The fat was trimmed off, which is one thing I appreciate about gopchang. They prepared it well. The organs were seasoned and/or marinated. The small intestine was stuffed with ingredients like garlic. Yum. We got two dipping sauces: sesame oil with salt and Korean soy sauce with chopped bird's eye chili. The latter was subtly sweet. Overall, I thought all of the intestines, tripe, and heart had savory, appetizing flavors with various firm and chewy consistencies. In general, the first stomach is the chewiest and it only gets chewier the longer it's on the grill. Banchan, with standard free refills, included spicy chives, spicy pickled onion and bell peppers, spicy cold mung bean sprouts, and kimchi. I will say, aside from the chives, the banchan was a bit lackluster. The quantity was there, but the quality was not. None of the dishes were bad. It's just that the competition is very stiff in Gwinnett when it comes to banchan freshness/quality and variety. However, I'm not complaining much because the meal we had was reasonably priced. As is customary at Korean barbecue restaurants in Atlanta, our food was cooked for us at our table by the servers. We visited on a Tuesday night and there were only two young ladies working the front of the house. The place got decently busy - maybe seven active tables at its peak - and the servers stayed on top of everything. They were nice too. Great service. This is a small, humble, old-school restaurant. The interior isn't as modern or nice as some of the aforementioned newer gopchang restaurants. Gopchang on Fire 2 feels more warm, homey, and low-key. The grill ventilation wasn't great, but not bad either.

Side dishes were tasty even though it was limited options, had really good service, and the best part was that they had Hite beer which is my favorite Korean beer, so the somaek tasted better than usual. Food: ordered beef brisket, pork belly and gopchang (Ala carte) combination options did not match what I wanted. Beef brisket was so tough and chewy. We all looked at each other questioning the quality of this beef. On the other hand, pork belly was exceptional. Great flavor. Was very content with gopchang too. Banchan was mediocre. Love the bean powder (the magic sauce) as a dry meat dip which adds savory sweet taste that enhances the flavor. Whoever created this is a culinary genius. Service: the young lady who sat us to the table was nice then a male server took over. I'm guessing maybe he had a bad day, or just don't want to be there. Not personable. He was grilling for us but our family especially my mother who was there eats speed of sloth, very slow eater. I asked him courteously "can I cook this myself because we are slow eaters".
