I happened to be in the area on a Saturday afternoon due to an appointment nearby, and I was searching for something to eat for lunch when I came across this restaurant. The staff was super sweet and welcoming, and the ambiance was chill and laid back. I ordered one of the combos: Soon Dubu and Grilled Mackerel. I was honestly blown away by the amount of food that I received for that price! They of course give you banchan, but the banchan was super fresh and clearly well prepared. Something else that they gave me that I've been wanting to try was the hot stone rice! If you've never had it before, they put the rice in a hot stone bowl (hence the name!), which makes the rice at the bottom crispy. The easy steps to enjoy it are scraping out most of the rice, pouring tea over the rice, covering it for a few minutes to let the flavors infuse with the rice, and enjoying it by mixing and scraping the crispy bits of the rice--don't worry, they provide clear instructions with images a each table. As for the tofu stew, it was perfectly prepared, and it honestly packed a punch with the flavors! Same thing for the mackerel--it was beautifully grilled and seasoned well. I wasn't able to finish all of it myself, so I definiteyly took the rest to go. I'm dying to go back and try other dishes! read more

Atlanta has a lot of good Korean food, and this place is definitely on the list for tofu stews! I ordered the spicy tofu + egg stew, and it came with crispy stone pot rice. Personally, the crispy rice was a bit too hard and dry, but it still tasted delicious. Stew was great! Pretty comparable to ones I've had in S. Korea, though maybe a tad bit less flavorful. Definitely prepare yourself for a wait if you come on a weekend or busy time, we waited around 40 min (at least Teso is next door so we shopped around!). As soon as we were seated and placed our order, we were served complimentary hot barley tea. Napkins and utensils are conveniently stored in the table drawer, and the servers bring plates, bowls, scissors and tongs as needed. I was a bit unsure why the bowls were provided, but the server explained that traditionally people mix the rice from the stone bowls into the regular bowls and then pour the hot barley tea into the stone bowl. This softens the crispy, slightly burnt rice crust and creates a nutty and savory tea you can enjoy. My husband and I ordered the following dishes: 1. Seafood Scallion Jeon (small size) 2. Spicy Oyster Soon Dubu with LA Kalbi Combo (He upgraded the plain rice to Umami Mushroom Rice +$2.95). 3. This was my second time here - the first time I did not review because I think it was a fluke - service was extremely slow and disappointing on a busy day, our waitress forgot to put our order in so we sat for 1 hr waiting before they realized. They offered one of the cheaper items on their menu - a cabbage dumpling for free but it was not very good nor enough to make us feel better. The second time we were served promptly and service was good. Food is great - the black sesame tofu didn't really taste like tofu but was still good. Fried fish is delicious and so is the soondubu. Wow...if you want a nice dining Korean style experience, this is the place to be! The ambience is very zen and relaxing. The staff are super nice and helpful. I was seated pretty quick and they immediately brought a pot of hot tea. The air was a bit stuffy as everything was made pretty hot. Luckily, today has been a pretty cold day. My new favorite restaurant to bring my older relatives when they come to visit (don't get me wrong, I love it myself as well, but older Asians are particularly fond of it). First of all, this parking lot is officially a nightmare after all these good restaurants opened up. If possible I try to go during off times, like 3pm. But now to the food. They make their own tofu in house using high quality beans, so the texture is completely different than your supermarket tofu. It's amazing, and I'm honestly not even a big tofu fan. Their tofu appetizers with kimchi are so good. The black sesame is the way to go, I love the seared one with the crispy crunchy outside. I've tried both of their Jeon, the kimchi and the seafood, and both of them are amazing. The seafood one in particular, is honestly the best I've ever had. Crispy, plenty of seafood, and they don't fill it with dough like some places. Both the Mackerel and Galbi are made perfectly. The spicy seafood tofu soup is super delicious, though I'm not sure why they don't include an egg. I'll definitely add one next time, as it's quite spicy and can use the egg to balance it. We've also have the Dubu Jungeol and loved it. Everything is really delicious here, with a simple menu focusing on tofu but plenty of real meat options. Following a roadtrip, my friend and I wanted to grab lunch on our way back to Atlanta. We were able to get seated right away for lunch on a Monday by the kind hostess. We shared their Scallion pancake (small), kalbi combo with soon dubu and ban Chan which was more than enough for the two of us. Ban chan is unlimited so we ordered another set since we had finished our first. The pancake was crispy but also chewy. There was even some octopus and oyster in it! The natural color theme gives the space a cozy and welcoming vibe. The staff is always so nice and accommodating. I always order the buckwheat wraps, they're so delicious with just the right amount of spice and are so flavorful. For my entrée, I usually go for the combo where you can mix and match the dubu with any of the main dishes. Finally tried Dubu Gongbang and loved it! The fried soy balls with mozzarella were crispy and cheesy--you get a great cheese pull when they're hot. The black sesame tofu with kimchi was tasty, and the kimchi squid jeon was my favorite, especially if you like kimchi. The grilled eel and oyster rice bowls were delicious, and upgrading the tofu soup was definitely worth it. A new Korean spot in town so we had to check it out! Their specialty is their tofu which is made in house?! How cool! It was honestly a top tier tofu in my opinion as a tofu fanatic. The spicy soon dubu was very mid in my opinion. It lacked serious flavor but let me take a step back and tell you it was vegetarian hence water broth, which might have affected the flavor. The banchan also could have been better but it was not bad, pretty fresh. My favorite was the Japchae, it was absolutely delicious! I will go there again for that dish alone. I went here on a whim after doing a little shopping in the area and just looking up "food near me". I saw this place made their own tofu and got excited. I was vegan for about 2 years and still cook mostly meat free so I'm a big tofu girly. I've never had fresh tofu though and I've been missing out! It's so good. The spice level of the soup wasn't too much. It was delicious. The fish was also very good. It had crispy skin without the rest of it getting overcooked. I will say I've never been to a nicer Korean restaurant, usually just the stalls in H-Mart and stuff so I wasn't familiar with banchan (I've now googled it) and did have to do some people watching to make sure I wasn't eating things the wrong way but it was all so tasty. This place specializes in tofu and has many selections of different tofu soups as well as other dishes. I noticed this new restaurant in Duluth, so had to check it out on my recent road trip to this Koreatown of the South... The place has a modern, minimalistic Zen vibe...with somewhat of a sleek, industrial decor. Not as big as I had anticipated, but cool. I was especially impressed with the little details, like the tables having a drawer filled with utencils and napkins! However, I thought they could have made use of some modern overhead music (think New Age would have worked well?) to complement their minimalistic decor. Maybe I was too lost with the foods, but I actually don't recall hearing any music. The biggest downside was that the seating was somewhat awkward, and not comfortable at all...very hard wood, with no cushion. Service was VERY attentive...almost too much so? There were staff members just standing and staring down the customers as they tried to eat. Did NOT like this at all. I appreciate their efforts to be attentive to the diners...but there is nothing I hate more than being watched while eating. I did not like this AT ALL. Now, the food! First of all, I didn't think I was a fan of Tofu...but I was wrong. They actually specialize in high quality, freshly made (in-house!) Tofu...and it's just another level of good. I had their Kimchi & Tofu Soup (listed as Kimchi Soon Dubu), which was incredible. Then their exquisite Seafood Pancake... THE best seafood pancake I've ever had! Possibly even more so than the one at Jang Su Jang? WOW. Now I see why the ratings are so high here. Again, I appreciated the decor, but I didn't find the place too comfortable (very hard chair, awkward seating). Also, I appreciated the intentions of the attentive staff...but again, I found all of that uncomfortable. So yeah, there were some things that I wasn't a fan of here. Luckily, their superb foods more than made up for it. Given the absolutely amazing, authentic Korean foods served here, there was no way I could give anything less than 5 stars...even with the awkward, uncomfy experience. read more

Tried this place on my birthday just because I like Du Bu (Tofu)! Interior is clean and welcoming. It was almost 2pm but it was still quite many customer. The seared black sesame dubu was so good. Thick like a steak! It goes so well with stir fries kimchi! Soybean cold noodles came in a big bowl. The soymilk is thick and they added salt. It was ok just not as good as I expected. The oyster seaweed dubu was good and flavorful. The tofu is not the super silky one, but the real one makes you full. Overall price is on the mid to high comparing to other tofu place. However if you want to sit nicely and enjoy a good tofu with good vibes, this is the one. read more
