Do not come here for hair coloring/dyeing services. I wasn't going to leave a review because I know it's not easy to run a business. But after thinking about it for a week, I decided this warning is necessary for others so they don't lose their money. The day before, I DM'd Yumi that I wanted babylights framing the face. I also showed multiple inspo videos during the in-person consultation. Instead I got 2 thick streaks of highlights around my face like Rogue from Xmen, which looked nothing like the inspo video. After I pointed it out, the highlights were dyed darker to tone them down. But as the color fades, the highlights will show again and I'll have to spend more money to fix my hair. I paid $345 for the total look ($300+ tip). If a stylist isn't familiar with a technique or can't do the requested look, they should be honest and inform the client. read more

I booked this hair salon because I was recommended from my coworker and it was just in time for when I needed a haircut. I contacted their instagram page and she was kind enough to make an exception for me after normal hours (around 6:30pm) because that was the only time I would be available after work. She greeted me and she shampooed my hair and cut my hair according to my inspo pictures. I had relatively damaged hair since it was recently colored, so she cut off most of the damaged areas while keeping the layered look that I wanted. The ambiance was cozy and Yumi was very friendly throughout the haircut. She also gave me tips to style my hair. I had an amazing experience with Yumi today! My hair was in bad shape and needed a refresh. Yumi was able to fix and take care of my problems. For context, I came in with a damaged hair from an old balayage done in NYC last year and wanted to get a fresh cut and go darker. Yumi was able to easily fix my old out grown balayage and get me the hair color and style I wanted. She was able to blend in my roots with my bleached and washed out balayage seamlessly! She took care of my hair with great consideration and attention. The products she used are top tier and smells amazing ~ it left my hair so silky smooth and healthy. TLDR: Unless you want a choppy butterfly cut, don't go to Yumi. She'll give it to you regardless of what you ask for or what you guys agree on and you won't find out until the end when she tells you it's her specialty LOL I asked Yumi for long layers with a U shape in the back, no blunt cuts, and no thinning at the ends since my hair tends to get dry. I even showed her an inspo photo. I emphasized that I wanted the layers to blend seamlessly and not look choppy. She suggested medium layers starting at my chin, and I said thats fine. She divided my hair into 4ths, grabbed the front right quarter and cut NEARLY HALF THE LENGTH OFF. My hair was mid-back length and the first cut she made was nearly 2 ish inches below my shoulder. I was immediately alarmed. I didn't see how cutting a big chunk that short was going to give me the layers I asked for. All I could do was trust the process. Anyways, she did the same thing to the other side and at the end trimmed the bottom half of my hair:/ No U shape like I asked for. At the end, she asked if I liked it. I just nodded. What was I supposed to say?? She wouldn't even be able to fix it. What I ended up with was basically a really bad wolf cut with two super distinct parts.. one thick chunk in the front/top, and the rest of my hair thinned out at the bottom. Mind you the top chunk is so far from the bottom/end of my hair. She said this style is really popular in Korea and it's her "specialty" BUT THIS WASNT WHAT I ASKED FOR?!! There's so much weight in the top layer now that it makes my hair look thin at the bottom and uneven. I've given it a month, trying to give it a chance. I'm honestly really frustrated. I'm doing everything I can (rosemary oil, hair vitamins, the whole nine yards) just to grow my hair out and hopefully get it fixed BY SOMEONE ELSE. Yumi, if you could only cut one style, that's fine but next time just be honest with your client instead of agreeing to something and then doing your own thing anyway. This review is for a woman's hair cut. The space is small but cute. Yumi was easy and friendly to work with. She knew what my hair concerns were without me telling her. I had long, dry, thin, and flat hair that looked heavy on me. She washed my hair, put a hair treatment in to bring back moisture in my hair, then we talked about what style I wanted. We cut a lil less than what I normally would, because she was going to cut layers with long curtain style bangs. I was open to trying something new so this was a little different than what I normally get. I loved the new hair cut and the way she styled it for me. She also explained how to style it at home. I wish the curls stayed longer. After about an hour I could slightly see the curls. I'll ask for hair spray next time. I came here to get a trim, add some long layers, and to blend in my bangs. I did not ask for a whole new look. I'm a long hair girl but my hair came out so much shorter than I expected. I am usually not picky with my haircut but she cut my front layers so short when I specifically I asked for LONG layers. She proceeded to cut 6 inches off and at that moment I knew it was too late. My face shape is round so I usually like my front layers kept long. I don't know if she didn't understand that I wanted to keep my hair long but I did specifically tell her. It looks like she specializes in short to medium cuts and does one specific style. I had so much hair and my hair was so long and it is what ppl notice about me and now it's so thin and short. Yumi seemed rush cutting my hair and not particularly friendly. She briefly asked me what I wanted and if she was even interested in what cut I wanted, this could've been avoided. She kept gaslighting me and saying "doesn't it look good." She even took off my ear piercing without asking me. From the reviews, I should've booked with Kaylee. I rarely write reviews but I feel like I needed to write one for this place. I FaceTimed my friend and she said I looked like I got a mullet. It's so bad that I don't even want to keep my hair down anymore and will probably take a year for my hair to grow back. I should've known from her photos it doesn't seem like she cuts long hair.
