For the 1st time in 6 years, I have had the worst dim sum from Yummy House (Ocala) that I have ever had! I called my order in, like I've done a few times in the past, and didn't open up the containers before leaving the restaurant. They didn't use Florida red shrimp in the past, I guess because they smell terrible and don't taste as good as white shrimp...but they did this Sunday. When I called back to ask if they had a new 'dim sum' chef, the young woman who answered the phone told me "no, but would you like to speak with the manager?" When the manager came on the phone and I stated I had a complaint, he pretended he couldn't hear me because of static. This was the same phone I used to place my order but now there's a problem with static. I've learned to make my favorite steamed spare rib dim sum dish from Daddy Lau, I guess I'll learn to make the 3 others from him also so I won't be so disappointed. read more

Seafood Pan Fried Noodles $9.95 Crispy noodles, shrimp, scallop, calamari and boi choy in brown sauce. Sautéed Tofu and Beef with Oyster Sauce $9.50 Sliced beef, fresh tofu and onion in oyster sauce. Kung Po Chicken $9.50 Stir-fried white meat chicken with zucchini, celery, water chestnuts and green peppers in spicy Kung Po Sauce with peanuts. Dim Sum has to be one of my favorite things in the world. When growing up in the Ocala area there wasn't any Dim Sum. We were lucky there was sushi. However, years later when traveling back to visit family one of them asked what we wanted for lunch. I'd mentioned Dim Sum and low and behold it had finally arrived in Ocala. If you're new to Dim Sum then be aware that it's similar to tapas style and many things are served with two, three or four individual items. My recommendations include: Honey Glazed BBQ Pork Buns (they're amazing). Think of your favorite yeast roll with BBQ Chinese pork stuffed inside. Pan-Fried Chive Dumplings, Baked Pineapple Buns (save these babies for dessert), Shu Mai (pork and shrimp), Shanghai Style Dumplings (YUM!), Fried Shrimp Balls (I could eat these for days!), Deep Fried Rice Rolls Stuffed Twisted Crullers (something unique to here) and Hong Kong Style Roasted Duck (I can't ever say no to duck) The only thing that we found weird was a couple with their dog. They appeared to be regulars at the restaurant judging by the way the staff treated them. However, what was weird was the woman was ordering food for the dog and feeding it to her. We lived in Tampa for 30 years and have regularly dined at all the Yummy House restaurants there where it originated. Now that we moved to Ocala we were happy to see an extension here. Dim sum is limited to Sat/Sun from 11:00am-2:30pm and ordered from a separate menu other than the main menu. It was wonderful. Lunch specials are served on weekdays. Orders came out quickly and tasted freshly made. Take a group and get one of the large lazy susan tables. Wait staff was very helpful and attentive. Fulfilled all our requests to satisfaction. Other menu items were all delicious and plentiful. Plenty to share all around. Prices are graciously reasonable. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. No complaints really. Garlic chicken- good ingredients but lacking garlic and flavor. The sauce wasn't garlicky at all. They also didn't pack napkins, soy sauce, silverware , or fortune cookies. Penny-pinching, money-grubbing ownership ... and the food isn't that good either! Crab Meat Corn Soup is great with crispy Chinese noodles but this restaurant doesn't provide crispy noodles. When I questioned the waiter, he said a lot of people ask but the owner won't offer them. Then he added, "Don't expect fortune cookies at the end of the meal, we don't have those either." Then there was the rice - many restaurants will charge you a bit more if you opt for fried rice but this restaurant charges you for plain white rice! Service is excellent. We've dined here on multiple occasions and the service has always been prompt and responsive. The food is best described as acceptable. The kitchen will accept special requests (ie "no zucchini"), but overall the flavor is basically the same as any generic Chinese takeout place, at dine in prices. Menu has some items that most takeout places don't, particularly appetizers, so that could be a plus. On the downside, rice is an extra cost item, even on dishes where it would normally be included. Food-wise, if you've been to a high end Chinese restaurant elsewhere, operated by ethnic Chinese, you'll be disappointed - the subtle flavors and less mainstream dishes just aren't there. And unlike every other Chinese restaurant in America, you will NOT get a couple of fortune cookies with your bill. At the end of the day, Yummy House is probably the best Chinese in Ocala, but it's a stretch to give it more than 3 stars. read more

Since when do you go to a chinese restaurant and you have to pay extra for RICE!! Small portion. Chicken was white and rubbery with no flavor. There was hardly any brown sauce which didn't matter because it had no flavor anyway. It was supposed to come mixed with vegetables. There were very few. They do not have eggrolls on the menu (wth) ! I had a bad craving for deep fried taro and as luck would have it we visited on the day they were serving dim sum! And you guessed it, they had my deep fried taro, which was cooked perfectly. They had a great selection to choose from & it was difficult to not order everything they offered. We shared a small bowl (which was anything but small) of sweet & sour soup from their regular menu. It was full of seafood, mushrooms & a lot of other wonderful things. Most places are skimpy in their ingredients, but not here. So I've been to yummy house multiple times before and at different locations. I typically go for dim sum or the Peking duck which I've always been satisfied with, so that's why I didn't give a one star review. However. I was craving some sweet and sour chicken and ordered delivery through Uber eats and it has scarred me for life. So an exaggeration but it was still pretty bad. I also ordered the beef chow fun with black bean sauce, thinking the sauce would be similar to , the Korean black bean sauce and noodle dish. Both were a major disappoint. The beef chow fun just tasted like chow fun with random whole black beans mixed in and was seriously over salted. The sweet and sour chicken had the sauce already mixed in like some type of psychopath on a warpath (I'm a firm believer in dipping culture NOT pouring) and as a whole it was seriously under seasoned. Add a side dish of rice and the total came to $45 of regret. Definitely will never order delivery from this place again and will stick to the duck/dim sum combo. *also the salt and pepper calamari is surprisingly good as well* read more

Yummy House has always been the go-to spot for premium chinese food. I have always applauded the quality of food. Unfortunately, the quality has gone down tremendously at the Ocala location. I work in Gainesville and occasionally pick up food there. The night and day difference in food quality and quantity is astounding. Gainesville continues to uphold the premium aspect of Yummy House, whereas the Ocala location no longer shoots for premium in quality nor quantity of food. I took a gamble and picked up food in Ocala this past Friday as I failed to grab food in Gainesville. I was again utterly disappointed in the quality and quantity of fried rice and a few other items. The rice was flattened out to cover the bottom of the to-go container and was barely a scoop or more of fried rice. The rice was not fresh, sticky and poor quality. I understand a bad experience occasionally, but this has been the norm with the Ocala location at least the last few years. read more

Really good food, and I love that it's freshly cooked. We had fried rice with shrimp and chicken low menu. Side of spring rolls, which they call "crispy egg rolls". My son had orange chicken. Huge plate and he nearly ate every bit, as he hadn't had breakfast or lunch and we were there for dinner! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that they didn't serve rice with orange chicken. My husband has been to the location in Tampa, so when we moved to the Ocala area we were so happy to know Yummy House was here. The food is always hot and fresh and service is amazing. Our favorite go to items are: shrimp with broccoli, beef with broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, Mongolian beef and wonton soup. Shrimp are HUGE (which is hard to come by at many restaurants), broccoli is steamed to perfection and the sweet and sour chicken is some of the best I have ever had! Sauce is delicious, generous portions and the chicken stays crispy even with sauce. Served family style and order side of white rice. If you like your food spicy, ask for a side of hot oil and you can add it to everything. I add some to my soup and on top of my rice and with my shrimp. Prices are reasonable considering you get a good amount of food. I do not mind paying when I am getting good portions and great quality and you get both here! Bok Choy in the wonton soup is delicious and I save mine to eat with beef & broccoli. The location has plenty of parking, the inside is large, service is great and the food is amazing!!! You have to check out this location. Sunday Dim Sum looks amazing but I haven't tried it yet. read more
