Dumplings are one of the last things I want to eat when I expire. Dim Dim Sum is a newer dim sum location in Central Florida. I had heard great things about it and hadn't gotten the chance to go until recently. This is mostly because they're located in Windermere, which is a bit aways from most of Orlando. It was chosen as the dinner location for a work dinner for Asian American Heritage Month. May might be over, but Asian food is forever. It's in a very cute location with shops around and ample of parking. They had tables set aside for us and they have a full menu as well as the dim sum menu, which you mark how many of an item you want. Family style dining as is most Asian dining. The interior is super nice and it does feel upscale. They have large tables and some smaller ones but it's not a huge restaurant space. This means the meals feel very cozy and intimate. We got the squid ink shrimp dumplings and regular shrimp dumplings. They were both a 9/10. I will say that squid ink anything does not add to the flavor, just the color of the food. Squid ink is slightly more expensive. The shumai was a 9/10. By the way the dumplings were huge and about 4 pieces per order. We tried the curry fish balls, which essentially is fish balls like the ones you get at hot pot cooked in a yellow curry. It was my first time trying this and I thought it was just ok. This was a 5.5/10. Some ordered beef and broccoli for the table and it was delicious. Definitely a large dish to be shared. That was an 8.5/10. We tried their wonton soup which came with noodles and bok chop. This was an 8/10. The fried shrimp balls were excellent and is a 9/10 for me. Normally, I think they are either too savory or oily. However, these ones had great crips and really well balanced flavor. We tried my favorite dim sum dish, which is the rice rolls with shrimp. This was a 6/10 for me. It just wasn't my favorite one that I have had. We also tried the mango custard bun, which was a 8/10. Overall, I would give them a 8/10. It is a little on the more pensive end for dim sum but the atmosphere is nice and service is pretty good. I love dumplings. I could eat dumplings any day, all day. It truly is one of those things I would have as a part of my last meal on Earth. read more

These shrimp balls are unmatched. I tried the beef tripe was refreshing with the ginger sauce and topped with green onions. Found a new fave. Of course I had to have collagen so I had the chicken feet with that memorable taste of Chinese dim sum that I have missed since Chan's closed. Beautiful and well-decorated restaurant. The food is great and the waiter comes by pretty often (dare I say, she came by too often). This is a lovely spot for a Friday night. There weren't a lot of people there, but if more people come, the vibe will be nicer. They have a variety dim sum options on the menu as well regular noodle and rice larger dishes. Each dish was prepared fresh and brought out as it was made. I was actually surprised but this Dim Sum spot. Food was delicious and authentic l, this is the perfect place to satisfy your dim sum cravings. The soup dumplings were phenomenal, the pork buns are a must they were so fresh and full of flavor. The egg tarts were one of my favorite items in the menu. The custard on the egg tarts had the perfect texture, not too runny and not too firm. The rice rolls were not my favorite, but I definitely would come back to try the rest of the menu. I come all the time and always get the pork and shrimp shumai, shrimp dumplings, crispy shrimp ball, and the soup dumplings! Those 4 would definitely be enough to fill up two people, but you can always opt for a few more to try out some additional flavors! I hate to give anything below 5 stars but I'll have to be honest here! We came here on a sunday before the rush specifially around 11:30am and only half of the restaurant was filled. The guy had told us to wait 5 minutes which was fine. When he gave us a table it took them 10 min to push 1 cart on our side! Mind you the restaurant was not busy yet and when the cart arrived it barely had any selection. We took 3 dishes out of the cart and waited for more 15 minutes later we finished the 3 dishes of course we wanted more and the same cart came by with the same exact dishes so we said we would wait for the next round another 10 minutes passed by it was still the same dishes with 1-2 different new dishes so we ended up just ordering it even though we did not want it just so we feel full. We requested a few dishes so that they can expedite the dishes but it took them anothe 5-8 minutes. I heard the table next to us request the same dish and it took them too late to give the order that we all ended up requesting a to-go box for the dishes we requested. Also, they give you a quarter of the sauce cup for chili. The staff are great honestly this is why it is getting 3 stars but I can only imagine it if they are really busy! I was having a crazy dim sum craving the other day so we finally decided to try Dim Dim Sum! Located on the backside of the shopping center, it can be a little tough to find, but parking is a breeze! The employees were very nice and brought out the carts quickly for ordering! You choose your items and they'll mark them on the paper at your table. Some items need to be ordered directly, so just ask if you aren't sure. The food was AWESOME though-- the pork buns were my favorite! The noodle roll was also very yummy. Every dumpling tasted the same. Not a lot of flavor surprisingly. The soup dumplings are where I had to stop. I bit into one and it tasted like it wasn't cooked all the way. I opened another one and it was just gelatinous--- almost looking like intestines. The dumpling itself was fine, but the broth wasn't cooked all the way in the fat congealed. I went in on a Friday night to get some food with my boyfriend. As we were being seated, my boyfriend and I had a brief discussion about if we were going to sit on the same side or across from one another and we pushed one chair in and as I went to pull the other out to sit in it, the waitress glared at my feet/me pulling out the chair and as I sat she said in a very irritated tone "you made so much noise!" One of the better Dim Sum restaurants I have been to since moving to Florida. This is a small location but decorated very nicely with a few large table to accommodate big parties. While there is not a huge selection of dim-sum to choose from, the items that I did order - majority of them were delicious. If there is anything you don't see off the carts or menu you can ask/order it but know that if you do order it can take up to 15 to minutes to receive. Me and my fam ended up checking out this place because the Dim Sum place closer to us was priced considerably higher than here (the prices here for Dim Sum were comparable to other DS places). We have been to Dim Sum places in NY, Boston, South FL, Orlando and Jacksonville and this place can absolutely hang with the best of the best! Except for one dish (for me - the rest of my fam did not agree with my assessment), we all felt that Dim Dim Sum actually made their dishes more flavorful than all the other places we've been to! The place itself has a modern, yet Chinese decor which we all liked. The service (especially with the gentleman that served us) was excellent - not overly friendly because remember that is not the Chinese culture - at least not in my experience; but he was excellent. Other than that they are more expensive than other regular dim sum place. We got the squid ink shrimp dumplings. It come with three pieces. Second dish is the shrimp pork siu mai. It is better. Come with three big pieces. The third dish is the bean curb roll. This is my wife favorite. The dish also did a good job. The fourth dish is the sticky rice with Chinese sausage. I like this dish. With higher premium we have higher expectations. That the reason they are only 3.5 stars. Food is average. Service is average. read more
