The restaurant shares a parking lot in the plaza. They have the usual dim sum fav's Our wait time was about 5 minutes on a Sunday afternoon around 2 pm. Our server was pleasant and helpful. The food was fresh, hot and tasty The ambience is casual, clean and busy. Bathroom was decent. The wait times can be longer but it is popular

Definitely a good spot to chill and indulge in some authentic dim sum. The variety of dishes are flex giving the diner the opportunity to experience the culture. The food was made to order and the food arrived to the table piping hot.

I came in as soon as they were opened, so it took them some time to prepare it all. Even so, I am unsure about the experience. The hagao has some small pieces of hair on it, but everything else tasted okay. The place looked nice.

TimWah Chinese Dim Sum Restaurant 8358 Point Meadows Dr, Suite 11, Jacksonville, FL 32256 After wrapping up church service this morning, my stomach was growling like crazy, so I decided to check out this local spot for some authentic Chinese dim sum. I've been craving those steamed buns and dumplings forever, and TimWah seemed like the perfect quick stop in Jacksonville! Let me start with the good stuff: The food? Oh man, it was GOOD--really, really good! I loaded up on classics like shrimp shumai, pork siu mai, and those fluffy BBQ pork buns that just melt in your mouth. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and hit that perfect balance of savory and steamy. But the real star? Their chili oil--it's hands down one of the spiciest I've ever tasted! It had this intense, fiery kick with a hint of garlic and sesame that elevated every bite. If you're a spice lover like me, you'll be in heaven (just have water handy!). Now, the not-so-great part: The service... well, it sucks big time. It was painfully slow--think waiting forever just to get a menu or refill on tea--and the place wasn't even busy when I arrived. They weren't rude or anything, just disorganized and understaffed, which made the whole experience drag. I get it, dim sum spots can get chaotic, but this was next-level sluggish. That said, I think I got lucky timing-wise! When I walked in, the restaurant was totally empty--nice and quiet with that cozy, no-frills Asian eatery vibe (think simple decor, steaming carts, and the aroma of fresh dim sum filling the air). But within 15 minutes, it exploded with people--families, groups, you name it--and suddenly it was packed! The server even had to start telling new customers to wait outside in line. Pro tip: Go early to beat the rush! Overall, come here for the killer food (seriously, dim sum dreams come true), but definitely not for the service. If you're patient and all about the eats, it's worth it. Would I go back? For that chili oil alone, heck yes! Who's tried TimWah? Drop your thoughts below--any must-order dishes I missed? #DimSumLovers #JacksonvilleEats #FoodReview #SpicyFood #ChineseFood

Cucumber salad, creme brunette tart, pineapple bun

wonton soup: super clean but flavorful broth. Wonton were juicy and hefty, and great beef flavor. pork spare ribs: super tender meat and perfect seasoning. shrimp shu mai: very good, tender shrimp, creme brulee tart: not too sweet, I usually eat 1 egg tart but I ate 2 of these easy. pineapple bun: so cute and great texture. They are smaller than the west coast and wish it had a bit more custard but still really good. cucumber salad: so crunchy!! This was surprise favorite. Perfect balance of savory, spicy, and the crunch is still cant get over.

We stopped by on our way through Jacksonville, as it was conveniently off the highway. It wasn't a big enough building for servers to wander around with carts like in Atlanta, but the food was delicious and felt authentic. We tried several different steamed, soup and fried dumplings, as well as a noodle dish. This was my first experience with dim sum in over two decades, and it didn't disappoint. We will definitely be back!

I can't express enough how amazing the food and service was here! Again, the food was absolutely delicious! Even my kids loved all of it! 10/10 recommend!

Timwah is a great choice for Dimsum at an affordable price but leaves a little to be desired in a few key areas when dining in. My partner and I love the rice and noodle entrees. They're delicious, filling and reasonably priced. The dim sum ALMOST never misses here. The pork buns and shumai are delicious. My one disappointment on our recent visit was the pineapple bun which was extremely lacking in filling and flavor. The service is generally great here, both dining in and for takeout, but the music being played in restaurant is always odd for one reason or another. It is always the same artist or set of songs being played on repeat. One instance it was 60+ minutes of Taylor Swift, our most recent visit was 60+ minutes of Christian rock music. It was just odd and a little disturbing to the relaxing evening we were trying to enjoy. I think a chill instrumental music playlist could go a long way here.

Ask the Community - Timwah Dim Sum Restaurant

Does anyone know if this restaurant has outdoor seating?

Not the last time I visited. They do a lot of takeout business though, which has been our approach the last year or so.

Do they have a cart service?

Yes they do. They will make rounds with the cart and check off on your sheet which plates you've taken from the cart.

What does their Sunday Brunch menu consist of?

I thought it's just their regular/full menu. I don't think there's a change in menu for the sole reason that it's Sunday.

Is the dim sum made from scratch?

YES!!!! ABSOLUTELY!!!!! If you follow their instagram page you can see him make it daily!!!😊

Can any ASIANS tell me how this place is, compared to actual dim sum from China ? Or LA?

It’s the real deal. Just like San Francisco or Hong Kong. The owner/chef is amazing.

Which items are vegetarian (contain no meat)? Thanks!

I think most of their food is shrimp or pork with the exception of the dessert

Does the Shanghai dumpling have meat inside?

At TimWah, their Shanghai dumpling g has pork inside

Tucked away off Old St. Augustine Road in Mandarin, Lucky Cat Dim Sum serves some of the freshest dim sum in Jacksonville. Everything arrived steaming hot, a small detail that makes a big difference. Dim sum is meant to be eaten fresh from the basket, not after a leisurely stroll around the dining room. The classics were all excellent. The chicken shu mai were substantial, flavorful, and held together beautifully. The black pepper beef short ribs were fall-apart tender. The fried shrimp balls delivered the kind of crunch that announces itself before the flavor arrives. The barbecue pork bun was pillowy soft and packed with a sweet-savory filling that lingered long after the last bite. Dessert was equally successful. The mango mochi had the ideal chew and was loaded with chunks of ripe mango. The taro Lucky Cat bun, shaped like the restaurant's mascot, could have coasted on appearance alone. Instead, the filling was smooth, lightly sweet, and thoughtfully restrained. What separates Lucky Cat from every other dim sum restaurant in Jacksonville is its willingness to have fun. The menu is filled with East-meets-West creations that could easily become gimmicks in less capable hands. Everything Bagel Buns, Buffalo Chicken Buns, and other familiar flavors offer diners an approachable gateway into the world of dim sum. The standout was the Cheeseburger Shu Mai. It sounds like the sort of thing that should fail spectacularly. Instead, it works. Seasoned ground beef wrapped in a delicate shu mai wrapper and topped with melted cheese. The beef carried a bold Cajun kick, the cheese added richness, and somehow the whole thing remained balanced. It tasted far bigger than a single bite had any right to. I've eaten at every dim sum restaurant Jacksonville has to offer, and Lucky Cat stands at the top of the list. It delivers the classics with confidence while bringing enough creativity to keep even seasoned dim sum fans interested. The best dim sum in Jacksonville, and one of the most enjoyable meals you'll find anywhere in the city.

I always order a lot of dishes because I like what I like and I also know I'll have leftovers. I sent back the pan fried taro pudding because it was so bland and it didn't have many of the main ingredients in it. If it were there, it was so skimpy I didn't find any. (The Chinese sausage and dried shrimp) The pain fries soy sauce noodles were overcooked. It's suppose to be pan fried and it was not. Also very skimpy on the black mushrooms. Not very flavorful. The Steamed shrimp dumplings were mediocre. The skin was gummy and fell apart. The shrimp filling wasn't too bad. The shrimp with rice pasta was probably the best dish there. But it was still lacking in flavor. The steamed ribs with black bean sauce was very bland. The ribs were tough and tasteless. The braised chicken feet were over cooked. The texture was horrible like eating mush. The flavors were also off. The egg tarts looked good but the flavors again were off. Borderline going bad. It had that slight aftertaste of sourness. The shell was also flavorless. The BBQ pork buns were also disappointing. The ratio of bread to filling was off. Very small amount. But I was a little happy this happened because the filling didn't taste good at all. The hot tea was also disappointing. I always order jasmine tea when having dim sum. They used a low quality tea bag instead of real loose jasmine tea leaves which also includes the flowers. No fragrance at all of Jasmine tea. Needless to say, I will not be going back on my next visit. It was very expensive for what they give you. Especially since the food was so bad. I gave it two stars because the service was very good and the view was decent. I am Chinese... born in Hong Kong. So I know what dim sum should taste like. I wish I had seen the review that had a photo of the salt and pepper shrimp before I went because I would not have gone. Their salt and pepper shrimp is not authentic and I would have not gone and saved myself $80 for my lunch.

They didn't say that but I included a photo of both because I feel like they're close enough As far as food goes, we split the Peony Sampler for an appetizer and loved it. It definitely did it's job as a sampler because now we know we like all of their appetizers and would order any of them on their own in the future. I ordered Egg Drop Soup after that because it's a favorite of mine. I always add a little salt to their version of it but I add salt to a lot of soups so that may just be a "me" thing. I had the Sweet & Sour Pork with Fried Rice for my entree, which is the same things had last time and it's still great. Between the appetizer and the soup and the entree, I was hoping to have enough to take home for lunch tomorrow and I definitely did. My wife had the General Chicken. She really liked the sauce because it was sweet but has a little bit of spicy kick to it. She said the same thing I said about the chicken itself; she loved that it was big pieces of juicy white meat. She was also surprised by how much she liked the broccoli which made for one of those things where you could get a bite of everything at once. She also had a lot to take home, so she's happy with that too. Thank you again to the person who posted about Peony in the group recently. We had a great lunch thanks to your reminder.
