I really had a taste for some Chinese takeout, and since the weather wasn't great outside, I decided to grab a quick lunch close to home. I ordered the Rib Tips and Pork Fried Rice for pickup. Honestly, I was hesitant because Yum's has really gone down in quality over the last few years, but I was hungry and just wanted to grab something fast. I wouldn't say I completely regret getting it, but it definitely wasn't worth the extra calories. Let's start with the Pork Fried Rice. The one thing I'll give them credit for is that it wasn't greasy. But the lack of flavor completely messed it up. It was so bland that I actually had to bring it home, re-cook it in a pan, and add some garlic butter just to give it some life. The Spare Rib Tips were another miss. They gave me a really good amount of food, which I appreciated since I was hungry, but the meat was very chewy. It almost tasted like the tips were a bit old. I ate it because I was hungry, but this place consistently fails to meet the standards they used to have. The food here is decent, we've been ordering for delivery and pickup both for years. But our last order was that--our last. We called just after the maximum time window we were given (75 minutes). They said that the food had just left and would arrive shortly. I called back after another hour and asked them to cancel our order. They said "yeah, okay" and hung up the phone without asking what order I was calling about. I called back and they directed me to Menufy to cancel since it was an online order. The people at Menufy were great, but when they called the restaurant they said that the food was delivered, refused to refund the order, and apparently swore at the customer service rep from Menufy. I don't know what to say because the food was never delivered, we have a Ring camera and can prove that. Hopefully we get our money back. Well, we apparently won't get our money back. The store is refusing to allow Menufy to issue a refund. Our crappy review stands and we're out $61. Hope it was worth it, Yum's! read more

*Updated Review* I've been coming here for years now. Still tasty food but portion sizes aren't as generous. I still come often - a solid choice for Chinese take-out. There's no dining in. I'm sure that's a post covid thing! I like getting the lunch specials since it's a bit cheaper. My go to is the general tso's with fried rice. They used to give a nice helping of broccoli. This is the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever ate from! I ordered a house special soup, the broth was flavorless, the mushrooms looked old and the baby corn tasted sour like it had expired. Bad customer service. Bad bad bad don't waste your money here . Been coming here for 5 years. Today 2/25/26 for the first time they got my order wrong . I wanted a chicken and broccoli and they made shrimp with broccoli I made it home to see it's shrimp. I called them and told them they got confused and went to instant denial. Long story short the lady who took my order didn't want to take the fall. So she said I had to repay if I wanted a chicken and broccoli. A small. 10$ the order wasn't even for me it was for my daughter a 5 year old. Doing the math I spend about 40$ a order (plus they hide the fact anything over 40$ is a free 2 liter soda) I spend about 240-280 a month with them we're talking 3000$ a year and u can't replace a 10$ order. My Colleague ditched behind a car to releive him self. He was embarrassed and he is Asian. I told them I didn't appreciate the lack of hospitality. I will never return to this restaurant again. There aren't a lot of Chinese takeouts that will put egg in your rice, but Yum's definitely does! Their prices are pretty typical for any takeout/Carryout in the Maryland/DC area. I purchased the General Tso Chicken yesterday. I only ate half of the chicken I was very surprised and disappointed. So far, four pieces of what I thought was chicken was actually BATTER BALLS shaped like chicken and didn't contain the smallest piece of chicken imaginable. Hunan China on Ice Crystal Dr in Scaggsville is closer to my home. I haven't ordered General Tso chicken from there, the Orange Chicken was fantastic. You can taste and see the orange zest. Tried out Yum's after getting tired of the inconsistency from our usual takeout spot. It was ok. Not super good, not super bad. Everything was kind of bland taste-wise, but it wasn't awful. Probably the best tasting out of our order was the combination fried rice. The worst was probably the wonton soup, it was very warm but not at all flavorful. I go ahead to pay, I then ask for a plate (so my mother can have room to mix and stir her food). They tell me they don't have any plates so I suggest they give me one of those big white containers, they tell me it's .15 I said, "I just overpaid for this soda and you'll should give a plate and you'll gonna charge when I just paid for this. I canceled my entire order: I told them it's more about the customer service than anything. I could careless about the price but all this They nickel and dime for everything, when you've already overpaid for food. I called around the corner to another CarryOut and the cost was $9 and they gave me a plate at no cost. Ban this CarryOut for poor customer service. read more

Yums - Ordered and paid online about $36 at Yum's Restaurant! They charged a $1.50 convenience fee (who's convenience? Not mine). I received a confirmation number and drove over. When I arrived, it was the usual chaos I've experienced there before. But this time, they told me they didn't have my order. I showed them the email confirmation on my phone. "We don't have your order." When I requested a refund, they initially ignored me. After forcefully demanding attention, and then some useless back and forth, and then intentional delay, I finally received a refund. I find their food just a bit more tasty than Lean Cuisine - we chose it Friday just to grab an easy dinner after a hard week for my wife and me. I got my refund, but no apology. The general tsos chicken tasted too sweet & the fried rice that comes with the platter had an excessive amount of onions & sprouts, I like onions but I didn't need 5 onions per bite. I DO NOT condone texting and driving, but on my way home, I will have my passenger use the Yelp app to order their 3 wing special. Ordered some food from online for delivery and they did NOT have my spring rolls in the bag. I ordered 3 spring which equates to 6 because they come 2 in a pack. My order gets delivered to me with NO spring rolls. I called the restaurant and ask can they send my spring rolls to my house, the man says no they in the bag. I let him know that If they were in the bag I wouldn't be calling. So I ask for a refund and he says call Q menu. Then I asked again for them to be delivered to avoid the hassle of a refund so he agreed to send them. Waited 30 mins and called back. Relocating in the DMV can be a daunting task. Finding the carry out in your area that cooks your General Tso's chicken how you like it is another thing of its own. The staff at Yum's is super friendly. When your picking up your order they make sure you have the sauces and utensils you need before you leave. The inside is like most Chinese restaurant's nothing over the top. They are right next to my favorite L store too so it's a win win. When I first moved to the Laurel area my first order from here was wings. I figured if they jacked these up there would be no need to go any further. Them damn wings was crispy and hot! On to level 2, which for me is the steak and cheese. I was very specific on what I wanted on my sandwich as well as my wife's. They nailed both! With levels one and 2 getting Aces I was like oh snap let me get the Kung Pow..... Man down, man down it wasn't poppin wasn't a fan, but I didn't give up on them.
