Came on a Tuesday (check out this spot for taco Tuesday at a great price) and ordered the shrimp burrito. I came in the afternoon and happened to be the only person here so the food came out very quickly and I must say I ate it just as fast - hands down the best shrimp burrito that I have had in the Bay Area! Yuri's made me the best burrito I have ever had. I went there after a recommendation from a friend. I checked the Google street view and was a little skeptical about the neighborhood. My doubts were completely unfounded. There was plenty of street parking and once you entered the restaurant, the atmosphere was extremely welcoming. The staff was the most attentive I have experienced with our group being checked on several times, but not enough to feel intrusive. The salsas provided were clearly home made and each had a unique and flavorful taste. The carne asada super burrito I ordered was near perfection. The tortilla was soft and fluffy, and the beef was cooked in such a way that the exterior had a satisfying crunch while still being tender and juicy on the inside. I loved the fact they used real avocado in their burritos, and the proportion of rice, cheese, and sour cream was spot on. I am excited to go back and try some of the other items on their menu. Stopped by Yuri's in San Leandro and grabbed a breakfast burrito to go, no meat, extra egg, and it absolutely delivered. The flavor was on point, well-seasoned, and satisfying without needing meat at all. The portion size was generous and the extra egg made it filling without being heavy. We've come here twice and both times we had delicious food. The first time we ate at the restaurant and the second time we called in an order to pick up. I was looking for homemade tortillas to make enchiladas. Yuri's came up as highly rated and close by. The Yelp menu indicates $6.59 a dozen. I order 3 dozen, two dozen corn, one dozen flour, plus a drink. I figure $20 plus change. The cashier says $39. What? I ask if the tortillas are made on site. The corn tortillas are, not the flour. Okay, I only want the corn, two dozen and now the price is $27. Okay, I would like just one dozen (plus the bottle of soda). Now it is $15 for one dozen and with the soda, $27. I went to Costco and bought 100 corn tortillas for $4.99. What a waste of time and the girl got angry with me for questioning the price. read more

I came here three times in a week because the birria was so good. The first time was on a Sunday afternoon, when my husband got a birria burrito for himself. We took it to go, and when we got it home and I tried a bite I instantly regretted not getting any food, too. It was a delicious burrito and the birria was so flavorful, tender, and juicy. I then went back mid-week and ate lunch by myself in the restaurant. I was the only person inside so my food came out really fast. I got the birria super burrito and was shocked by how significantly larger it was than the regular burrito my husband ordered. I was barely able to get through it. Absolutely delicious, but definitely required a fork and knife at a certain point because it was way too hot and messy to hold. I also got an horchata and a Mexican Coke; the horchata was pretty bland and I wouldn't get it again, so it was a good thing I also had the Mexican Coke to wash everything down. The waitress was the same woman who helped us on Sunday. She wasn't rude but also wasn't particularly welcoming -- very transactional. I thought it was odd that the other waitress "working" with her was sitting at a table talking with a woman she knew the ENTIRE time I was eating, even through phone calls and customers coming in for to-go orders. The waitress who helped me was juggling refilling to-go cups of salsa while answering the phone, ringing people up, and communicating with the kitchen. That Saturday, my husband and I went back to eat lunch in the restaurant and it was a total night and day experience from the laid back lunch I had just a couple days before. The restaurant was a total mess, clearly the aftermath of the breakfast and lunch rush, and in a state that made me not want to eat there. Crushed chips were all over the floor along with an empty Coke can and dirty napkins here and there. There were only a couple of empty tables, on the opposite side of the restaurant from where I ate lunch the first time, and both were filthy. We chose one and wiped it down ourselves; this is also when I noticed what poor shape the booth seating is in. The pleather is all torn and shredded in many spots and looks awful. These guys clearly did little to nothing to renovate when they moved in after Cre-Asian left, as the decor seems to be a holdover from the old restaurant, and they're doing nothing to upkeep the place. Even the old bar area seems to just be used as storage now. A total waste of space that looks run down and sad. The fact that these guys haven't even bothered to invest in a real sign in all the years they've been here now, and just have their old banner hanging over the old Cre-Asian sign, speaks volumes as to how much importance they put on investing in both their restaurant and community. I got the handmade birria tacos, one soft and one crispy, both with cheese. The consommé doesn't come with the tacos and is an extra cost, which is kind of lame. My husband got the quesabirria taco, which is huge. It's essentially just an oversized birria taco. The tacos were absolutely delicious and I would absolutely get them again. I preferred the soft taco because their handmade corn tortillas are fantastic. But I did think it was weird that I was given chips as soon as I was seated for lunch when I came by myself, but on this day we didn't get any chips until we ordered guacamole. Speaking of the guacamole, it wasn't great -- way too heavy on the lime, which made for a totally one-dimensional flavor profile. The same waitress from the last two visits was working again, but this time she was significantly less friendly (not that she was necessarily a ray of sunshine the other times). She was a little short with my husband when he was asking the difference between their quesabirria and birria tacos with cheese (which is rich given there's no difference at all except for the size and the option to get homemade tortillas with the smaller tacos). This place is a to-go-only place for me moving forward, and I still haven't figured out how much I want to support it. The food was great overall (horchata and guacamole aside), but the cool service and shoddy state of the restaurant are off-putting to me. I'm always bothered by restaurants that care more about raking in as much as possible but couldn't care less about the poor condition of their restaurants, either inside, outside, or sometimes even both. Maybe when I'm less annoyed with them, I'll give them another shot. read more

I saw a post from Yuri's daughter on Tik Tok about their Valentines day pink taco promotion. I wasn't able to visit until today and from the few reviews I saw online, I was pretty juiced to support a local taqueria. We arrived around 5 pm on a Friday for an early dinner. There was only one table eating. We were quickly sat and attended to, our kind waiter getting our drinks and patiently waiting for us to order. Food came out together and very quickly! Around 15 minutes for a table of 4. We ordered the taco plate, wet burrito, no meat pozole, and rice and beans for the baby. My son devoured the taco plate and my partner was only able to finish 2/3 of his enormous wet burrito; I'm telling you this thing was huge! I enjoyed my pozole, though I felt it lacked depth in the broth. The lime and chili along with the other toppings helped make the soup good. My issues began when I received the bill, because I noticed a large discrepancy with the price listed on the menu and the price I was being charged. The menu has a clear error on the prices as a no meat pozole small is $14.55 but the large was $13.50. Before ordering, I asked if it was a small price swap error and the waiter had said yes, the prices were just flipped. However, my bill showed I was being charged $17.50! This is a 20% increase in price! I immediately thought it was a clerical mistake and asked our waiter what was the reason for the higher charge. He said that the person who made the menus messed up the prices and the true price of the Large no meat pozole was $17.50. I told him that I was not made aware of that price when I ordered and asked for the bill to reflect the menu price. He did not try to fight it, although I could tell the energy had shifted. I think they were banking on the fact I wasn't going to audit my receipt. I am deeply troubled by this situation because I feel this is a normal practice for Yuri's Taqueria. To claim the reason behind the price change is because of a menu error, then fix it! I'm sure we have all seen menus that are edited with sharpie, paper, etc. C'mon, I was born at night, just not last night. Additionally, I understand we are going through hard times and inflation has caused prices to change, but to allow your customers to order from a menu and be charged a completely different price is shameful. Pretty sure it's illegal.... Even after all this mess I still tipped, because I'm not an asshole, but it made me feel disgusting supporting a business that is being deceitful to their customers. read more

Placed order for steak tacos with everything and they were both really delicious. The only thing is I got served my food on the half of a broken to go container. But definitely a good place. I think I have finally found my place for a giant burrito! Parking a bit difficult during prime times. Simple and easy menu to navigate. I came for the super burritos. I ordered 4 super burritos, 2 chicken and 2 carne asada. The wait was a bit long. Almost 30 minutes for 4 burritos but there was only 1 person cooking. Next time I will call and order ahead before going. Burritos were gigantic and filled to the gills with rice and meat and avocado. It definitely was very filling. Upon walking in, I found the menu on a front table, and our friendly and professional server Antonio came out and seated us. The restaurant appeared purely Authentic Mexican. We didn't ask for this, but it was intuitively brilliant to do so for someone with diet preferences. She was very happy with the quality and amount of ingredients, and how she could build her tacos. My carne asada super burrito and two grilled chicken tacos arrived at the same time. Upon first sight, I thought the burrito seemed regular size-then I picked it up. This burrito almost weighed two pounds it felt like. My girlfriend and I began to joke about a viral video making the rounds about a tournament fisherman who stuffed his fish with weights! It seemed unreal how hefty this burrito was. I unwrapped it and immediately noticed the quality of EVERY single ingredient. Every ingredient was fresh and delicious. Everything about the burrito seemed custom, homestyle and Authentic Mexican. The tacos were in the same fashion. My girlfriend got so much with her order that I had to finish her jalapeños. I have been coming here enough that I definitely owe them a review. First of all the staff is super friendly and kind. The restaurant itself is very nice and always looks clean and well kept. Now about the food. I love burritos, I mean I love Mexican and more broadly Hispanic cuisine and I am not picky about it, but burritos specifically are like comfort food for me. I always judge a restaurant based on their burritos. And I have to say my unbiased opinion is that this place has the best burrito I've ever had. I always get the super burrito with asada and something about it is just magical. The meat is so flavorful and I can tell that they grill it fresh and they melt and brown cheese with it in the burrito and the combination is heavenly. The entire burrito is like a work of art every bite is perfect. Pair it with their amazing salsas (all three are amazing) and it's out of this world. I also highly recommend their horchata, it is rich, sweet, and fresh. It tastes homemade and goes great with their food. Admittedly I can eat their super burrito whole because it's just that good, but the portion is so large you could definitely split it for two. If you have a birria obsession, you have to check out Yuris! I've been their biggest fan since they had their spot off 98th. I'm so glad they opened a restaurant. Okay now the fun part: Quesibirrias - Homemade tortillas, request them crispy. HUGE portion with a side of grilled peppers and onions get the green sauce Birria with consomé - absolutely amazing. The sauce is the best part. I usually come home and add garbanzo to the consomé (meat juice). Menudo - very unique because they put epazote (don't know the English term). It's not bad at all but it does put a spin on the flavor. The menudo is super tender and they can add pigs feet. Quesadillas- they use hand made tortillas for these too and you can order them crispy (not to be confused with fried) That's all I've really tried but I'm sure the other menu items are great too! read more

The taco game of this place is acceptable. The asada did not fail. The lengua is fire . Their al pastor was ok. The carnitas one has flavor but carnitas is cut more longways than in square.
