I stopped by here when I saw it because I love the location in Dublin, but I was in San Leandro. I ordered a vegetarian burrito and it was really good except I wish I had remembered to say refried beans. I appreciate it that the chips and salsa was help yourself. The restaurant was really big and bright and clean and the ambience was cool. It was definitely a variety of people not like Dublin where it's pretty safe feeling but it was totally cool. I shouldn't say safe that might not be the right word, but it was more urban the San Leandro location compared to Dublin, but I liked it and the people that work there were really nice and the food was really good. This taqueria is a local favorite, located in downtown San Leandro on the corner of the Pelton Center Plaza. Open 7 days a week from 8:30am-9:30pm, parking is a bit tricky as the plaza is metered Monday through Saturday. Read the signs! Might be better to find street parking if you want to avoid paying for meters. The restaurant has a fair amount of dine-in seating and you can usually find a line to order, but not out the door. The pricing for their plates are pricey (averaging $20.99/each) as well as their other menu items; however, the size of the meal is decent. Ordering is quick and customers can help themselves to complimentary tortilla chips next to the register and can select the type of salsa they want at the salsa bar. Chips and salsa are unlimited unlike other taquerias that give one bowl of chips and it's not even stacked. My go-to items are the tacos and enchilada plate, which comes with 3 enchiladas and your choice of meat (can select 3 different kinds for the same price), beans, rice, salad, and salsa. The tacos (averages $4-6/each) are street tacos and they drench it with sour cream and guac for my preference. I enjoy the al pastor and carne asada, the meat is flavorful. We had a group of 11 people--6 adults and 5 kids--and arrived around 1:30 p.m. on a Sunday. About half of the seats were already taken. The restaurant is semi-self-service: you find your own table and place your order yourself, and the staff will bring the food to you. There are quite a lot of seats, but most of them are four-person booths, with only one six-person table available. It felt like the restaurant is much more convenient for groups of four. If you have more people, it's hard to sit together. In the end, we waited for the six-person table for the adults and used a four-person table for the kids. This is just all personal preference, so take this review with that in mind. I ordered a few crispy tacos, 2 lenguas, 1 carne, and 1 al pastor. There is A LOT of lettuce and and sour cream. This could be a good thing for others, but for me it was a little too overwhelming. Especially the sour cream, I think that just drowns the flavors too much. The meat portion was great. The meats really fill the tacos, I think that's why the lettuce, cheese, and sour cream is outside the taco, because the inside is filled with meat. That I really liked about Los Pericos. The carne was pretty bland in my opinion. Al pastor had flavors but you would expect it to be flavorful. I was pretty sad about the lengua, that just tasted like water. Hubby wanted enchiladas, so I referred him here. We've had them a long time ago but through a friend that got us takeout. My brother introduced me this place when I was recently in town visiting. We came for a late lunch after an Oakland A's game (the last one at the Coliseum). And it's clear that this is a local gem. I had the ceviche tostada and the carnitas loaded nachos. Well, I probably should have stopped at the tostada which is a huge portion and could be shared for 2. It was fresh, really good. Oh my goodness! I used to work close by in San Leandro and would frequent Los Pericos often. It's been a while and today I was in the neighborhood and decided to drop by for lunch. I ordered a soft taco. The meat was so moist and the carnitas seasoned to perfection. On the menu I thought $10.00 for one taco was a bit overpriced. Then I got the taco and saw it could have been made into two tacos (generous meat portion). The service was friendly. Definitely a neighborhood spot to enjoy great Mexican food. read more

As a Mexican 'diner' this place is excellent. We have been to a couple of their restaurants in the bay area, and all have been clean, and well run. Lot's of locals come here, which speaks volumes. When I go to a 'Mexican' establishment, I want to be the minority 'Non-Mexican' in the room. You will get that here. Was craving a burrito so ended up getting a super burrito with carne asada from this local place. The place was filled with customers and had a line so you can tell this place is pretty well liked. You place an order at the counter and find a table for yourself. Self-serve water and unlimited chips + salsa. Didn't have to wait long for my burrito. I would say it's decent-sized and had a good mix of filling, not too much rice or beans. Meat was seasoned nicely, and tasted even better when I added the green sauce on top. I probably didn't get a fresh batch of chips but they didn't taste old or stale. Staff takes orders and buses tables quickly. Noticed this place about two years ago, when I was going to the massage place a couple doors down. I didn't think much of it. Now with my job I have to go to our main branch for meetings so a colleague recommended this place. This place reminds me of a places in Long Beach called Patricia's, but just little bigger. They have an extensive menu, but in the interest of time I ordered a super burrito (carne asada.) For lunch time the service was quite fast and they were plenty busy. I forgot to ask if the beans were pinto or black. I prefer black beans, but luckily the burrito was evenly distributed with ingredients. They got a little sala bar and chips too. It filled me up, but honestly, it didn't blow me away. The chicken was a bit on the dry side, which is a shame because the dish had potential. What I did enjoy, though, was the sauce bar. They had 3-4 fresh self-serve salsas and some tasty pickled veggies, which added some much-needed flavor to the meal. Definitely a highlight. That said, I know this spot has a loyal following, and I've seen rave reviews, so I'm not writing it off. I feel like Yelp is gaslighting me with this place. I went one weekend to get menudo because I saw the stellar reviews. By the time I got there, they were sold out. A few weeks later I tried again, because it must be good right?!?! No. Sadly when I got my menudo they didn't offer hominy (which is not great but whatever). Then I tasted it and it was BLAND!! I put in all the oregano, salt, onions, salsa and lemon and it was still lackluster. My friend was visiting from San Jose and he gave me the stink eye because I told him this place was supposed to be authentic. He said it was the worst menudo he ever had. My only guess is that they just made it (maybe?).
