I still have food in my mouth as I type this... This little gem of a taco truck is located just off of the 580 freeway in San Leandro and several blocks north of E14th. Randomly found by my broths as we were on the hunt for Mexican food. When we pulled up, it was no one there and I'm always skeptical of taco trucks with no customers but don't worry, I was completely wrong. I ordered four tacos and one of those being a cheese asada taco. When I received my tacos, my first clue that it was gonna be some pressure (meaning really good for folks who don't know slang) because the corn tortilla was soft and fresh off the tortilla press and had fresh guacamole on top, something I've only experienced in San Diego (Tijuana Style Tacos). I couldn't believe the first bite, the pastor, asada and pollo were really good and crispy. I've been coming to this spot before it had it's fancy truck. They're Tijuana-style tacos-- flame-grilled meats like carne asada, served on freshly pressed corn tortillas with guacamole, salsa, and onions...OMG. We've only ordered carne asada and al pastor and they've never once disappointed. Tacos are $4. My husband and I decided to go down E14th and try one taco (one asada & one al pastor) from each spot (2 before this one). And this place comes out on top! Solid street side taqueria if you're looking for burst of flavors and freshly made tortillas and meat! I found them through an instagram post and for the most part they're not really on social media it seems. I almost wanted to safeguard this spot but I feel like it's already getting more popular and the lines are starting to form. We've tried almost all the meats but my favorites are Al pastor and cabeza. The food has been consistent for the times we been and though it is pricey for street tacos, I'm happy to pay for it because of the fresh tortilla and overall flavors! November is starting out as a Foodie month. I have been trying for awhile to catch Taqueria El Primo open. The first two tries they were not at the usual location, the third try I got there too early and they were in the process of setting up the tents. I swung by today and they have a truck now. I had a late lunch so I wasn't hungry but I tried an Al Pastor taco. At $4 for a street taco it is on the higher end of what I've paid for street tacos but El Primo does serve their tacos with a scoop of guacamole. The taco was pretty good, the tortilla was soft and warm, the guacamole adds to the taste of the taco, it comes with onions, cilantro and a nice slice of grilled pineapple. Overall, the blend of ingredients gives the taco a nice flavor. They do have a condiments table if you want to add salsa or chew some radishes on the side. They also sell fresh juice drinks. I plan to swing again for a meal so I can try some of the other items on the menu. You'll want to park directly in front of the taco truck. My one Food experience was horrible. I have no idea why people are rating them so high. Albeit i had only 3 carne asada tacos, this one experience is enough to pass on them any other time. I had a semi high hopes that the food would be good because this is a clean food truck, though in a somewhat dirty area. The tortilla was greasy and not warm and the meat was completely gross. Discovered this spot through instagram and decided to give it a try since it looked bomb. We pulled up around 6pm on a Sunday and there was quite a line, so I could tell it was probably going to be bomb. I ordered Al pastor and carne asada and both meats were so good. My favorite was the Al pastor out go the two. The tacos are served on freshly made tortillas. They have an impressive salsa bar and grilled jalapeños/onions. Never seen a taco stand have that many options before. Definitely give this a try if you're looking for some bomb street tacos. read more

I discovered this place on a fluke, coming home me from the gym I've evening. I decided to try them the next time I was there, and so glad I did. This is a pop up type place set up in a parking lot corner. They have a few tables set up to eat there. I think that adds to the experience and ambience. The freshly made tortillas are very good. You can watch them roll and cook them right on the griddle. The meats are fresh and cooked on site. The portions are definitely going to fill you up. They have a table set up with different salsas, cucumbers, radishes, onions, peppers, etc. The one thing is note is they only take cash and Zelle, presumable to avoid credit card fees. So, make sure you are ready to pay on those forms. We eat here probably a couple times a month. read more

These were the tastiest tacos I've had. Not only are they visually appealing but they may were warm and full of flavor. I had one Al pastor and carne asada tacos. I could have easily ate a half dozen. The only drawback is they were small in size but mighty tasty! I heard they could really attract a large crowd but were fortunate the line was very short. I finally got a chance to try this spot after seeing it on Instagram. It's located in the parking lot by a gas station and laundry mat, the girl that took our order was super friendly. They take cash and Zelle only. Closest Al pastor to the tacos you get in SoCal! The mulita was delicious and the tacos are filling. Definitely worth the money. Best tacos ever. I said it and I mean it. I love the taste of their Al pastor. Their meats are on a skewer with a chuck of pineapple on top, with the sauce from the fruit drizzling down the meat as it cooks. The meat quality here is amazing and exactly what tacos are supposed to taste it. They also add in generous portion of guacamole and it just completes the whole taco. My goodness, I need a taco (or a few) right now. Oh and also get the quesa-taco. You will not regret it!! Oh and they open at 5. You sir outside in fold up tables. The line wasn't that long upon arrival, but from ordering to receiving our food, it took us about an hour. The price is comparable to a Mexican restaurant we go for dine in so prices are not less considering it's a pop-up. The vibe was good m and people and servers were friendly and nice. The food was amazing. We got multiple tacos: Asada, pastor/Carnitas, lengua. They ran out of cabeza hence we didn't get to try. I'd passed by this food truck for some time before hearing someone I trust highly recommend it. So one day I stopped by. The staff are friendly and the other customers are, too. I received a number for my order. After you order everyone is waiting together. There are a few chairs and some shade with the truck awning. The wait was appropriate for food being cooked to order. The other group ate there. I packed salsa and pickled carrots and peppers to go from their bar. I had to remind them about my agua fresca but they were apologetic and took care of it immediately. These Tijuana style taco stands are popping up everywhere. Similar to tacos la Reynita and La Parilla loca but what sets taqueria el primo apart from them is that here they use charcoal instead of gas to cook their meet which gives that flavor everyone loves. Taqueria El Primo doesn't have a big menu at the moment but you'll find something you like. All the meat are well seasoned and you can never go wrong with handmade tortillas. As more and more great Mexican trucks and spots continue to pop up in the area, this place is one of the best of them, imo. So far I've tried their mulita and super burrito. Both were really tasty and both huge. I probably wouldn't order either of those items again unless I had more people there to help me finish them. The super burrito is gigantic no joke enough for three or four people.. I was surprised at the $24 charge for the super burrito but then when I saw how big it was, it made sense. I just ordered a burrito off of doordash and Im super dissatisfied. I ordered extra cheese and and crema. This burrito hella dry aint no cream on my burrito and it damn sure aint no extra cheese let alone a regular amount. Idk who cooking but damn? can you pay attention to customer's request? I dont have the means to pull up but that doesnt mean my order should be messed up. If yall offer doordash give customers a satiating experience ! The workers were more than accommodating and courteous with their service! The ambiance is very much a neighborhood block party kind of vibe.
