We are visiting Pittsburgh and was craving for ramen got encouraged due to yelp ratings however it is a disappointment because it was not good at all... the salted tofu is like so salty and the portion is so small not worth it. Overall: Yuzu Kitchen is good! Food was overall very tasty and authentic. Servers were friendly and the ambience was cool. We visited on a Friday night around 7pm and it was pretty empty with lots of seats. I heard this place is more popular w/ happy hour, so this makes sense. Our table got the Sapporo Miso Ramen, Karaage Curry Ramen (not pictured), and takoyaki. Sapporo Miso Ramen: I really liked this, with some caveats! The miso broth tasted authentic and the garlic butter added more rich flavour to it. Noodles were nice and springy w/ a good amount of texture. The egg, although tasty, was a bit of a letdown as the yolk seemed overdone and rubbery (I like my ramen eggs runny). Everything else like the chicken and seaweed were tasty but I found it odd that they were chopped up into really small pieces which isn't how meat typically is prepared in ramen. Karaage Curry Ramen: I tried the broth and it was really good. A really tasty Japanese curry flavour with a hint of coconut. It wasn't too spicy, which fit what we wanted. Like the miso ramen, the karaage was unexpectedly cut up into really small chunks, so it resembled chicken katsu instead. My friend had no complaints about texture or taste though! A place that sells ramen, I was expecting more authentic cuisine. Ordered a spicy wonton which was just boiled wontons with hot chili oil, ordered the sukiyaki beef ramen and it tasted like a beef stir fry poured over soy sauce flavored soup. My husband got the Mongolian beef with white rice, bok choy and mixed protein, he said it was fantastic....flavorful, spicy and he had enough for leftovers the next day that still tasted delicious! She took my food allergy and dietary restrictions seriously and made sure to inform me of which menu option were off limits due to this. She recommended a wonderful bottle of Moscato (I'm still on the search to find) and I ordered the Island Fried Rice; the pineapple made the dish. A friend had recommended this place solely for their fried tofu- it was very good- but what took the cake for me was their mocktails!!! I ordered the " please be quiet" , it was superb! ( it's the drink with the little pink umbrella in the picture I attached ) I didn't know what to expect but it was sweet and bubbly. It fit well with the beef ramen. I ordered the Wonton Ramen with a side of the scallion pancakes (not pictured) and I've definitely had much better ramen. The wontons in the ramen were fine but, the noodles were a bit too soft for my tastes and there wasnt even a lot of flavor in the broth. I also asked for the broth to be spicy, but still needed to get a side of chili oil because it just did not have enough spice to it. Additionally, the portion size of the ramen was reasonable (fair for a relatively nicer sit-down restaurant) but our appetizer had the smallest slices of scallion pancakes and only came with a total of 4, which was the part I did not think was reasonable. Quick, warming ramen perfect for the chilly winter season (or any day if you're in the mood). We've gotten only takeout here, but it's always been quick (15 minutes) to make the food. The menu is pretty big, so there are a bunch more options than just ramen. The ramen is tasty and flavorful, and packed well in separate containers for takeout. I've enjoyed the Yuzu Shio though be cautious of its spicy kick. The katsu rice bowl is also delicious with a nice coleslaw to add a fresh component to the dish. read more

I started with the stir fried bok choy which was very tasty followed by the char siu pork ramen. The ramen was good with plenty of substance in it. I added bean sprouts to my meal for more veggies. UPDATE: I had left behind a small cash tip solely for taking time at the table and to let them know I did not forget to tip on my card. Upon checking my credit card statement I find that they left themselves a nice 18% tip on the bill on top of the cash tip. Further solidifying their front house staff as being terrible. 5 stars for food only. The front house staff before we got sat was great, very straight forward on the wait. We ordered some drinks while waiting, which we never got. No big deal. We got sat for the meal and still never had a drink served. No big deal. Our food got served after over an hour. It was great, food itself was exceptional. Server gave us the bill with multiple drinks on the bill which we explained we never received when she gave us timestamped orders and we said we never got them. We asked for a manager who never came to say anything. I never ask for much, I am happy to pay for what I ordered, but I never got what I ordered and was made to feel like a criminal for asking for it be taken off the bill. read more

I got the mongolian tofu with white rice as my main dish, and I absolutely loved it! The sauce was so good and had a nice kick to it. I was invited to lunch by some coworkers (we work on the Blvd) and was told to pick whatever restaurant I wanted. I used to live in the city, and one place I miss is Yuzu. So that's where we went today! Service was great.. My boss (who just moved to Pittsburgh a year ago) said that the Spicy Miso Ramen was the best meal he's ever had in Pittsburgh. which made me SO happy to know everyone loved my recommendation. This could be my new favorite spot for ramen. Yuzu has such a cool interior design that gives you amazing vibes of being down town. We ordered take out from here because the restaurant was about to close. We ordered the gyoza appetizer, which came with 6 pieces of gyoza, each individually filled with meat in a light wrapper and served with a delicious serving sauce. For the entrees, we got the Sapporo Miso Ramen, which came with a 30-min egg and some meat. The broth was a chicken and beef based broth that was super rich in flavor, and made the experience amazing. The other ramen we tried was the braised chicken ramen, which was served with a tender piece of chicken and a 30-min egg. This ramen was also super delicious, and it was difficult to determine which was better. If you like sweeter ramen, then the braised chicken ramen would definitely be the one I'd go with. All in all, Yuzu is definitely an amazing spot for Ramen in Pittsburgh, and one winery I will quickly become a frequent customer. read more
