We had our Friendsgiving dinner celebration at Z Bistro last night. What a nice little charming restaurant! Our server was super friendly and very knowledgeable about explaining the menu and wine. My pork Schnitzel was very delicious and flavorful. Everyone else in our group enjoyed their food as well. The pumkin creme brullee and the homemade coffe ice cream was the cherry on top. I like the small seasonal choices. They change their menu around every month. Thank you so much for this pleasant evening at Z Bistro. Looking forward to come back.

Googled creme brulee in Carson and this place pops up. If you don't know that this place exists, go!! We were greeted immediately as we walk in by the owner Brandon himself. He was very friendly and informative. He told us that his menu changes once a month and gets revamped with new items. That is such a clever idea. We went in simply for dessert. I was craving creme brulee and they had it. Coconut Creme Brulee: I have only ever had traditional creme brulee, but the coconut was a nice change. Amazingly silky texture and fantastic taste!! Chocolate Ice Cream: perfect creamy texture and tasted great. More like a dark chocolate flavor than regualar chocolate, which was a pleasant surprise. Don't let the price scare you, portion sizes, ambiance and service make this place WELL WORTH IT!! THANKS BRANDON FOR MY AMAZING BDAY DESSERT. We will be back to try dinner next.

As always great food and service at Z Bistro. It's small, so make sure to make a reservation the menu changes monthly. Quaint authentic casual French dining.

We had an amazingly delicious lunch at Z Bistro a few weeks ago. (Sorry, I got behind and am just now getting to the review.) Z Bistro's food is as tasty as it is beautiful, and that's saying something. Look at the pictures. It's even more gorgeous in real life. And it tastes even better. Chef Brandon and front house Alec are super friendly, attentive and could not be nicer humans. It's always a treat to stop in for a blissful dining experience. Thanks so much. We hope to be back soon.

Came from Reno for date night Alex & Chef were super nice they kept checking on us and kept our glasses full. The service & ambiance was lovely! Our main course meals were super yum, I had the short beef ribs with mashed mmm & the lamb burger was beyond delicious. Highly recommend. This experience was super ideal for a date night or adult outing. We will definitely be back!

Was given a gift certificate from my daughter at Christmas and finally got to use it last night for my hubbies birthday. We started with the chicken satay which was tender and very tasty. He had the salmon and I had the cordon bleu which were both excellent. Finished the meal off with vanilla ice cream and I had the crème de brûlée. What a way to end this delicious meal. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Thank you Chef Brandon for such a beautiful dining experience! The level of artistry that you put in to each plate was exceptional. You can tell you carefully curate everything on your menu, I only wish I lived closer to try more. I've had the privilege in my life to eat at some of the best restaurants in the world. I'm originally from Carson and have not lived here for many years but visit family here from time to time. I've never had a dining experience like this any where else in the Carson Reno Tahoe area. If you are considering dining here, jump on the phone and make a reservation right away. The ambiance is perfect for any occasion! Alec was our server tonight and he was so personable, knowledgeable and flawlessly took care of all of his tables with the biggest smile. Carson City is lucky to have gained such an amazing chef who creates magic in his kitchen every night! I will be back for sure! 5 Star Amazing dishes we had tonight: Pear and Gorgonzola raviolis Seared Salmon Mushroom Bisque Crème Brûlée Vanilla ice cream with rum infused whipped cream

Here is what we noticed: - It's a pretty unassuming place...we parked in the side lot and walked around to their main entrance. They even had some specials highlighted as we entered. - Inside there is lots of seating...when we arrived the front of the place was empty, but people were sitting there when we left and we noticed that it is much quieter in that section of the restaurant than in the main dining room. - As others have noted, chorizo is their specialty and it's in many of the dishes. And, it is worth it!...and, not spicy like you might think of chorizo. My wife and I ordered the Quesadilla and the Basque Omelette, and we split both (plus, we took some home too). Each dish was really good in its own right, and being able to have the chorizo prepared two ways was great. Their home fries were really tasty too. - Service was good....very attentive, especially considering that it took us a while to decide what to order given the breadth of the menu. - We paid cash because of their sign indicating that that was preferred. Bottom line: We'd go back to Villa Basque Cafe anytime we're in Carson City...next time, we'd like to try some of their lunch options!

And we brought some Bay Area friends with us. We also came in mid-week to avoid any crowd potential. Our evening began at the bar with a round of Picon Punch, the official drink of the State of Nevada. I first thought that this was a drink that you only ordered once, but this small glass of goodness actually grew on us. After closing the bar bill and looking at all the branded merchandise, it was off to the main dining room. We chose the Basque Family Style side of the menu, which at the end of the evening resulted in number of take home containers. Our 4 choices were Basque Chicken, Fish, Lamb Shoulder, and Lamb Chops. Those came with Vegetable Soup, Salad, Beef Stew, Beans, French Fries, Bottle of Red Wine, Coffee, and Ice Cream. for the Table. These inclusive choices were priced just south of $40 and that's what the bill was at the end of the evening, as there were no extras needed. OK, the included wine was a little on the sweet side, but we didn't see the need to "upgrade" as we were too busy concentrating on the food. It was all good, especially the Soup and the French Fries. The only regret was not being here on the night they served Huckleberry Ice Cream, but our Vanilla or Pistachio Almond was good enough. JT Basque is family generation owned, and we certainly felt welcome and well taken care of. The rustic decor was also cool, as was the happy energy in the dining room. Why is this THE ONE when it comes to Basque dining? Well... It's steeped in history in a way you can feel from the moment you step onto the wooden sidewalk out front. You'll see it on the walls, hear it in the conversations, and taste it in the food. This is simply a special place. You'll feel truly at home, and that's because the same family has operated it for countless generations, passing down legendary hospitality like a family heirloom. From friendly greetings in the "lobby" to the homey vibes and warm servers, you'll love every moment. Doesn't hurt that the food is delicious and plentiful. Everything is made from scratch with a lot of love, and each dish is huge and hearty. Lamb chops and lamb shoulder steaks are always A+ but be sure to order the desired temp because they don't always ask. Steaks are solid too. Same tip as above. And for all three, don't forget to get them smothered in whole cloves of roasted garlic. Personally I usually can't say no to sweetbreads at a Basque spot, and that's the case here as well. They're served in a rich, garlicky and well seasoned gravy, studded with red and green peppers and whole cloves of garlic. It's the perfect dish to use up the extra bread because you won't want to leave a drop. Make sure you bring a couple bucks to leave up on the ceiling! The bartenders can show you how to make em stick. And of course, have a picon punch!

I entered and sat at the bar because the place was busy and it was a 20 minute wait. I ordered the special. The appetizer was Seared Scallops with a coconut cream polenta. The scallops were done right seared on both sides and the polenta was creamy and full of flavor. Then came the Spaghetti Bolognese which I was looking forward to. It looked appealing but once I tried it the flavor was not what I expected. It was a meat sauce but not a traditional bolognese. It had a different flavor with no tomatoes I think it was mainly wine based. Unfortunately I was expecting a traditional bolognese and it threw me off. And I asked for bread and they didn't have any. I took the dessert home a yellow cake with cream and a raspberry sauce. It was very good. The main thing I'm disappointed with is the Spaghetti Bolognese being not a traditional bolognese. I have eating breakfast here before and it was quite good.

This restaurant opened just last year and has quickly become one of the most magical spots in Lake Tahoe. There's even a rumor circulating around town that it may earn a Michelin star -- and if you ask me, it would be 100% deserved. I wholeheartedly welcome and celebrate that kind of recognition! From the moment you approach the restaurant, you're struck by how stunning it is. Set right on the lake, the building and surroundings are simply breathtaking -- a true visual feast. The ambiance is elegant yet warm, making it the perfect place for something special. I celebrated both my birthday and Christmas Eve here, and each experience felt unforgettable. The food is outstanding. The meals, preparation, and presentation are all exquisite. If you've ever been to The French Laundry, Edgewood & Lounge delivers that same elevated, refined style -- but with generous portions that actually satisfy you. (After my French Laundry dinner years ago, I ended up at McDonald's because I was still hungry!) Here, you get both beauty and substance in every dish. The service is in a league of its own -- warm, attentive, and genuinely world-class. I've never experienced better, even at The French Laundry. Everything feels seamless and special. Yes, it's a splurge (bring that platinum card!), but for anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, or any milestone worth celebrating, it is absolutely worth every penny. Reservations are highly recommended, and dressing up adds to the wonderful experience. If you're looking for a truly magical, high-end dining experience on the lake, run -- don't walk -- to Edgewood & Lounge. The privacy, the stunning lake views, and the overall atmosphere are just incredible. If you visit in December, they even have a private ice-skating rink and a complimentary hot chocolate bar for guests, which adds such a cozy, festive touch. We started with cocktails from the bar and sat outside by the fireplace overlooking the lake, which alone felt like a full experience. Then we managed to snag a last-minute reservation at The Edge, and wow... this meal was on another level. It truly felt like a Michelin-level experience. The service was excellent, the ambiance and layout were beautiful, and every single dish and drink impressed us. The beef carpaccio was the best I've ever had, the tuna crudo was incredibly special, and even the bread and butter were memorable. The cocktails were outstanding. And the triple-cooked chicken? Easily the best chicken I've ever had. It was one of those dishes where you're tasting so many flavors at once, you almost can't process how good it is. Even the side of mushrooms blew us away. You really can't go wrong here. It's not cheap, but it is absolutely worth it. This is one of those experiences you don't want to miss. I would give it six stars if I could.

The ambiance and setting are truly impressive and set the stage for what should have been an exceptional dining experience. The food itself was thoughtfully prepared and showed real potential, but every dish seemed to be missing something that kept it from being truly memorable. The oxtail ravioli was delicious and rich in flavor, yet oddly under-seasoned. Surprisingly, there was no salt or pepper available on the tables, which made it impossible to adjust to taste. The beet dish was creative and interesting, but far too small to be considered a full entrée. Overall, the menu felt like it was aiming for elevated fine dining, but many dishes lacked that final element that brings everything together. Unfortunately, the service also took away from the experience. While attentive service is appreciated at an upscale restaurant, this felt overbearing and forced. From the moment we sat down, there was constant pressure to order more -- including repeated pushes to purchase wine, even after we explained that we do not drink alcohol. Our waiter also kept insisting we order additional dishes and repeatedly told us what we "should" get, despite the fact that we had already reviewed the menu beforehand and knew exactly what we wanted. It came across less as genuine hospitality and more like upselling. There were also constant interruptions throughout the meal, with multiple servers repeatedly approaching the table and reaching across us during conversations. At one point, elbows were practically in our faces while dishes were being cleared or delivered. Instead of feeling relaxed and welcomed, it became distracting and intrusive. This restaurant absolutely has potential because the setting is stunning and the kitchen clearly has talent. But between the overly aggressive service and dishes that felt just shy of complete, the overall experience didn't quite live up to the very high price point.
