If you don't know how Big way hotpot works, right after you go in you get your own toppings like seafood, meats, veggies, and noodles and put it in a bowl. Then you bring it to the cashier and pick your broth and add-ons like cheese or rice. The price is based on weight. Then you grab a number stand and bring it to a table and wait while the kitchen cooks your food and broth. Optionally, you can type your phone number on the tablet at the counter to collect loyalty points and redeem it for stuff. On this visit, I came with a friend for lunch on a weekday afternoon. There was no wait so I was able to get inside and get started picking up my toppings right away. Every time I visit Big way, there is a staff member who will come to the front entrance way and hand you tongs and a bowl. Interestingly, there was no one that greeted me so I just got the bowl and tongs myself. But there was a small hiccup at the cashier. When I tried to pay for the meal with a gift card their scanner had trouble picking it up. Props to the cashier for trying different ways to try to fix the problem instead of giving up and make me pay some other way. They were able to fix the problem eventually after many tries. I asked the cashier about the different broth options and the cashier lady was happy to explain the differences. I went lightweight for an inexpensive meal so I got the beef strips, glass noodles, a couple of random seafood balls, some bak choy, and lettuce. I got their ma la tang with peanut sauce and it was pretty tasty. You can pick your own spice level. I got it medium spicy which gave it a nice kick but it may be pretty spicy for some people. It was happy hour so I got green tea (or lemonade drink) free with the meal. Pretty refreshing. I couldn't finish the broth because I filled up with the green tea, and it was spicy with no toppings left since I decided to go light on the toppings. The staff were great at taking away our bowls and utensils as soon as they saw our bowls were finished and immediately offered ice cream. It was a nice refreshing dessert to finish up the meal. I got a free mini sized milk tea flavored ice cream. It came in a black waffle cone. As for the vibes of the dining area, they played Kpop music but it wasn't that noticeable since there were a lot of loud people, mostly teenagers. I can definitely say that this location is the most spacious (and nicer) one I've been to yet. There were lots of tables that were spread out so you don't have to awkwardly angle your body sideways to get out of the table. (On the flip side, the seating at their Robson location is really cramped) There's a spacious patio outside overlooking New Westminster that I would have opted to try but it was raining that day. The washrooms were clean. Most locations have private washrooms but the ones at this location are public. Overall, despite the little hiccup at the cashier, gotta give 5 yelp stars based on this visit. This is a great location! read more

I got the bone broth one and it was pretty good not too salty plus I love the collagen benefits it comes with. Even though my friends and I came 40ish minutes before closing the staff were accommodating and the products were delicious. Service was decent and the environment was clean. read more

Was really surprised to see this location was fully packed even on a Thursday night. This was our first time trying a Big Way hot pot. Super conveniently located at the New Westminster skytrain station. The waitlist system is super convenient as you just need to go at the time your table is ready. We were 8th in line but got to the 1st position in the list in 10 minutes. The food was amazing. The broth was delicious. The cherry on top was the great service and our server patiently explained the whole system to us. Really hope they start the Spiked Boba in this location!! I've been to Big Way so many times but I realized I've never written a review for it! I feel like I've enjoyed my experience every time I went and this time was no exception. I do have to say that getting the timing right for when to join the waitlist is hard, but the lady at the front gave my group a bit more time to get there, which was really nice of her. This was my first time going to the New Westminster location and I was surprised to see how packed it was despite the larger space. Their business is really popular and I can see why. They have so many ingredient and soup base options, so there's something for everyone. I've recently been enjoying the tomato mala dry mix (mild) so that's what I got this time. I definitely recommend choosing mild when getting a dry mix, because I think the dry mix tends to be spicier than most people think (this is coming from someone who enjoys spicy food). Something I wanted to note about my experience was the customer service. We were a group of 8 and we wanted to put all of our hot pots on one bill. This was a bit chaotic, since some people in my group did not speak English, but the staff did their best to help. Later, when two of the hot pots came out too spicy (there may have been some miscommunication), I asked the staff if we would be able to get some of the basic broth to water it down, they asked if we'd like to have the tomato broth instead, which we gladly accepted. Overall, I really enjoy coming to Big Way because they have all the ingredients that I like in a hot pot. They offer a complimentary ice cream cone dessert at the end of your meal and we enjoyed their matcha ice cream. Also, in addition to hot pot, they serve a huge menu of boba tea or fruit drinks etc to complement your hot pot experience. Broth menu is quite extensive and even included couple vegan soup base option. I liked the tomato and collagen bone broth. Their sauce bar is abundant and I like it - it's satisfying to personalize sauce to your preference. If you like to try their recommended sauce pairing recipes, they have the recipes conveniently displayed at the sauce bar. For me, the main drawback to their hotpot concept is the hot pot is already cooked so it's not boiling hot and when food items are all cooked at once, one should choose wisely and avoid items that need more controlled cook times. I find the hotpot experience here definitely serves a niche where you can customize broth and hotpot items exactly to your own tastes and liking. For example, you can decide to add just 1 crab leg to the hotpot for that extra boost in taste and I enjoyed pairing it with as many lamb and fatty beef slices as I please. The cost of your meal here is by weight so the price of your meal could add up and I personally prefer AYCE for customizable cooking time and for its nicer seafood/meat options. I also think AYCE could be better value for carb and meat lovers and Big Way is better value for light eaters. Big Way meal costs totally depends on what you select but this place definitely saves you time to shop, chop and cook, especially if you prefer variety in your hotpot. I ranked this place 4 stars mainly because of its convenient location and super roomy interior. Ambiance is very spacious and service was quite friendly. This location is located at New Westminster skytrain so it boasts of easy sky train commute plus parking lot. First time at this location with four other friends and our visit was very good. We went at 4:30 in the afternoon and the waiting time was less than 5 minutes probably because of their massive dining space with many tables. Staff was friendly and very quick in attending our needs. I was stunned that the serving time was less than 10 minutes. I've also noticed that I paid less but picked more stuffs versus my first visit at the other location. Have been to 4 other big way locations before and this one i really enjoyed because of how spatial it is. There are just so many booth seat and it's so much more comfortable to dine in than any other location. Few suggestions tho: 1. They have a giant bar in the middle but the drinks come out in the slowest possible speed, people would finish their food and their drinks r still not here. What are the huge bar in the center for? the looks? 2. The line simply didn't move for a good 5-10 mins when our number was called, everyone are just stuck in the front waiting, why tell us it's our turn when the line is not moving? Everything else is fine, I enjoyed the sauce station, much bigger and cleaner than any other locations, my seat was big and their special pink boba drink is good! read more

I honestly am a sucker for hot pot- and this place is one of my guilty pleasures. I have only been here twice but I always think about it lol. I am relieved it's far from where I live because when I have it, I'm so happy! My only tip for first timers is to strategize well!! The first time I came here, my pot was $40 and I was so shocked but also I took a lot of items cause I ate with my eyes haha. The second time around, I really thought about what items I enjoy and ended up paying $20 woot! I have already been here 3 times within the past 2 months of their opening, and to be honest, if you are not on the waitlist like 3 hours before you want to eat, you are expected to wait at least 2 hours+ And the first time I was here, my friends didn't know that you could get wait listed for 2 hours, and we had to wait that night. They were so lucky I was already having a decent day, and that they didn't ruin it for me, much. The other times I was here, I was on the waitlist 3 hours before eating and once we arrived, we were literally given the utensils and got to grabbing the ingredients to eat. There isn't anything special about this Big Way except for the drinks or the size of it. They have the exact same food items, and when you tell the staff that there are none of the items lefts, they would go to the back and grab it for you. On top of that, the staff were attentive and helpful, once you pass the annoying list of people. The whole vibe of this Big Way felt like a cafeteria, and that everything was just open air and more seating, but it 100% gave me cafeteria vibes. I like that there are larger seating and more comfortable than a cafeteria, but the whole place really does give me that vibe for sure. It is a typical Big way, everything is done the same, grab your sauce, sit at a table and wait until your order arrives. Might not come back for a while since it is not my big way location, but maybe we will see in the future. read more
