The restaurant itself is pretty small and mainly does takeout, but that just adds to the charm. Even when there's a long wait, the staff is super friendly and always acknowledges you, which goes a long way. The pizza is very good. I usually prefer New York-style pizza, but this was still excellent in its own way. The best part is the cheese-to-sauce ratio. Lately I've noticed a lot of places piling on way too much sauce, but Zack's gets it just right. Every bite has a good balance without the sauce overpowering everything. Pretty darned good pizza! Sauce is a little sweet for our taste, but the crust is solid. More of a soft thicker crust, but still a foldable slice. No complains there as that is our preference for pizza crust. Toppings are smidge skimpy according to my husband, but I personally did not think so. The price point is unbeatable so that makes up for the "skimpy" toppings. 2 medium 2 topping pizzas for around $25 is a bargain anywhere! The shop is take out only. Literally there is a service counter as soon as you walk through the door. Parking available up front, but having to back out into the main road kinda blind is a bit scary. I believe that there is parking out back if you don't want to risk backing into a busy road. You can order everything through the website so this made everything super duper easy! Not bad, but not great. Honestly probably won't get again. I ordered take out, I got the carryout special with the XL pizza and 10 JUMBO wings, and a Stromboli. The Stromboli was my favorite, we did Pepperoni and black olive, flavors were good with the seasoning on top but the red sauce overall is lacking. For the pizza we did pineapple, ham, and Jalapeños with a white sauce. It felt lacking in toppings and the sauce I don't think they put the sauce on it but did Ricotta cheese instead, so that heavily took from the flavor. The wings we did BBQ and mild Buffalo. The wings were over cooked, like the meat was barely there because of this. And the sizes for "jumbo" was very sad. The flavor was good but size, and doneness was not good at all. This is my favorite pizza place of all time. Their crusts are delicious, they are generous with their toppings, and everything tastes so divine. Other chain pizza spots can't hold a flame to this place. I usually order for takeout or delivery, but it doesn't really matter which way you order because it doesn't suffer from the inevitable sogginess or food-that's-been-left-for-a-while issue that comes with most delivery food. Probably my favorite pizza is the chicken bbq one. I love the bbq sauce spiral they put on top of the pizza, and the combination of toppings is exquisite. Also, don't sleep on their chocolate chip cookies. This place has some of the best cookies I've ever had. They're huge and cooked perfectly so they are crispy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside when you bite in. Whenever I order from here, I always grab myself a 6 pack of their cookies. What an unexpected surprise we had last night! We were in town for one night only, just traveling on our way home. We arrived late and just started looking for open pizza places. Zack's we're closing in 45 minutes but we took the chance and sure enough they were still delivering. From the person who took our order on the phone to the person who brought our order to the door the service was excellent! Oh and the pizza was so reasonably priced, $22 for a large. Now the pizza itself was amazing. We ordered veggie minus green peppers. The toppings were loaded on and they were fresh. Lots of gooey cheese goodness. The crust was crispy with a little chewy at the outer top. It was just so satisfying. New customer: First time trying this place. I placed an order with grub hub AFTER viewing on google that they were opened. Being from the north and so very excited about trying NY style pizza. I started my drive to the location (20 minutes in), to get a call from Grub hub to say they have to cancel my order because the business hasn't accepted the order. Heck I was already almost there, so you can image my being upset. I pulled up to the location and guess what it was closed smh. I've passed this place many times driving through North Augusta but I finally made a stop to give it a try. The pizza is pretty good, I would say better than Papa John's and Domino's. I ordered the hand tossed sausage pizza. The sauce is decent, I think it could be a little more spicy but it is okay as is. Same with the Italian sausage, it needs a little more zing in the flavor. The crust is good, but I think it could have been cooked an extra minute to give a little more firmness. The cheese was good, lot of cheese... not sure if it was the normal amount or if the person making it likes a lot of cheese. Oh, I just love this place! The owners are friendly and welcoming. I am absolutely in love with the pizza! It's a naan bread crust that's always cooked to perfection. There are always ample toppings and it's reasonably priced. I was wanting a sandwich today and had a hankering for a Philly. They have an Italian Steak Sandwich that's comparable to that. It was wonderful and hit the spot! It was piping hot and flavorful. The thing I appreciated most is that the onions and peppers still had some crunch to them. I hate when veggies just turn to mush on sandwiches so this was a pleasant surprise. I'm usually one that prefers a "wet" sandwich with some type of condiment. The aroma of the sandwich was so good I couldn't wait and skipped out on adding the mayo that was included and I'm glad I did. The sandwich was really great as it was. This place has the BEST wings I've ever had! The pizza is great too and really big. The wings are smoked and I get them with Mississippi dry rub. They practically fall off the bone. Both thin and hand tossed pizza crusts are great. Be aware that Zack's has weird lunch hours and now only open Thursdays and Fridays for lunch. They are also mainly a Delivery/Carryout business, although they do have seating for 4 inside. There are some really good deals available, including some great lunch deals. read more

I went googling "great pizza" and this was on the list, so we made the trek from Grovetown to north Augusta. we got Zack's steak pizza i think it was called and a chicken and cranberry salad and a chicken sandwich of some sort. we had a bit of a ride back home so i cannot say anything about temps. I know it was hot when i put it in the car. the salad was really loaded with a variety of items, it was better than most restaurant salads honestly, and this is a take out joint for the most part. the sandwich must have been good because i got one bite. As for the pizza, I'm not going to say anything till i try it hot. it wouldn't be fair. pizza is very different after they get cold and this had steak on it too so. it wasn't as intended I'm sure. so I say give them a try. what we did eat was good. read more

Zack's is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in the Augusta area. While you can almost miss it driving by on Georgia Ave, I recommend keeping a close eye out because they make great pizza. The staff has been very friendly every time we come in for pick up. Last time, we ordered online and set a later time for pick up. Due to an innocent mix up, they accidently made a pizza early and it had started to get cold. Without me saying a word (which I wouldn't have anyway), the owner said it looked like it was getting cold and had a fresh pizza waiting to go along with the original order at no extra charge. That's the kind of customer service that brings me back over and over. As for the pizza itself, it's a New York style that I prefer. Thinner crust and not overboard on the sauce, I think it's fantastic. My wife is a big fan of the this cheese bread too. Definitely give Zack's a shot. You won't be disappointed. read more

I found this place through my Augusta chronicle voucher deal. I am so glad that I did! First of all, it is very clean and the staff is so super friendly. My husband got a large calzone which is probably large enough to feed half of North Augusta. He could not stop talking about it after we left there! I got the Zack's salad with tzatziki sauce as my dressing which I thought was totally awesome as a salad dressing choice. It was very good. We also had to try their wings once we heard that they were smoked. The garlic Parm wings are delicious. First of all, the pizza was very good. The thin crust is the closest thing I've had to NY style in the south. The wings are huge and super tender and incredibly tasty. Some of my favorite I've ever had. You can tell how much they work to please, putting ample plates and sauces and utensils into your bag. Man, I can't get over how nice the owner is. We got the Family special: 2 Large pizzas, 5 wings and a 2 liter. "The wings are cooked to perfection ." - my very hard to please husband. The pizza was good. I would've given it 5 stars but I would've liked more bacon on my pizza. The wings are smoked and not fried or fatty. We went with the Mississippi dry Rub.
