Beau's is a basic roadside restaurant , mostly takeout but a few small indoor tables and outside seating in the front and rear in the warmer weather. The offer excellent hot dogs ( Martin Rossol dogs and kielbasa . Toasted rolls and nicely cooked . Not split so the they retain their juiciness . Burgers are fine , nothing mind blowing but good simple staple. Fries are very good . The stars here are the seafood options. From the clam rolls which have good meaty strips to the whole bellies when available are really well done. . The chowders both the New England style and the Rhode Island style are excellent. We stopped by for lunch yesterday and had one of the best hamburgers in recent memory for just $8.50. It was a big thick patty on a soft roll that was pretty much perfect on all counts. The building has a long ordering counter, so be prepared to check out the menu board for all your choices. Think hot dogs, fried fish and seafood, burgers, sandwiches, wings, salads, soups, fries and rings, soft serve and shakes. Their kids' meals are a good deal - burger, dog, tenders, or grilled cheese plus fries, juice box or water, and small ice cream for $10.95. There is limited seating inside, with a few small tables and counters. During our visit we saw a ton of take-out orders, so that seems to be most of their business. One cool thing I saw was a businessman in a suit and tie grab a stool and eat his lunch at a window counter seat. Beau's has plenty of outdoor seating in front and behind the building, so with yesterday's balmy weather we grabbed a table behind the building and dug into our lunch. Between us, we bought two burgers, a cup of Rhode Island Chowder, a Heath Bar shake and a soft drink for around $35 after tax. My chowder was pretty good, with a tasty broth and plenty of diced potatoes and tender diced clams. My wife enjoyed her shake but noted those Heath Bar bits were all clumped together at the bottom of the cup instead of being mixed in throughout. Basic food done well, with very good NE clam chowder Back in Avon, and wasn't a major fan of the last place we went to. So back on the hunt for some basic food and found this little burger shack between a pretty good cupcake spot and a fruit bowl place. Signage is not so great. It's easier to find the gas station next to it than the actual shack itself. Parking and seating are limited, so this is very much a buy and run place. We got their burger and dog to give them a fair try, along with their pepperoni bites and their clam chowder which they sold as a take home item. You usually only sell stuff as a take home if it's really good, so we decided to try that too. The pepperoni bites were fresh made. kind of a mozzarella bite with pepperoni chunks mixed in. It's what you hope a pizza roll should be, but is mostly molten sauce instead. The burger and dog were good for what they were. basic burger, basic dog. the toppings were kind of a miss. the chili was hormel and the white american cheese got welded to the inside of the bun. They do a hot onion relish, probably would've been best with just that as a topping. The burger was seasoned well and good proportions vs the bun. toppings were weak here as well, but it was an okay burger. The clam chowder was really good. briney, thick, creamy, but not oily or too heavy. some veggies and some clams but neither overwhelmed. It was a very solid showing for clam chowder. Price was reasonable for the area. once again, nothing special on the burger and dog front, but some interesting options from the other items. Overall, not a bad spot for a quick meal. I stopped into Beau's Burger Shack this afternoon to try a hotdog and fries because a hotdog and fries is about as basic and simple an order from a place like this that you could possibly get. The french fries were excellent, crispy on the outside and soft and warm in the middle. The hotdog was a hotdog with mustard and relish, and it was decent. $14 for a dog & fries. read more

Takeout Review: I ordered the BBQ Cheddar Bacon Burger, fries, and New England clam chowder. The burger was good and the clam chowder was decent. My husband was raving about the chili cheese dog; it was also huge. I'm going to try that one next time! Ordering was easy, I called the order in and the food was ready at the time of pick up. I'll have to dine in next time but I drive by it all the time and it looks like a quaint, old school style burger joint. I ordered a burger for $12 it did not come with fries and was THEworst burger I've gotten anywhere it was way over cooked with no juices left in it. I did not finish it. Beau's is a very cute building, and luckily you are able to drive in from the back if you turn in at the light by the old McDonald's. They have indoor and (as of November) outdoor seating. They have the "traditional" hot dogs, hamburgers, and soups of the day. The burger was okay, and it was pretty large. My wife had a hankering for a burger today, so we decided to head over to Reno's Drive-In in Canton....but low and behold, Reno's is under new ownership, and now goes by the name of Beau's Burger Shack. Food seemed pretty much the same as before -- good quality, but extremely pricey ! My wife ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings, I had a cheeseburger also, and a Hot dog w/ spicy mustard & kraut. She also ordered a small cup of the Clam Chowder (which was very good). Like I said above, everything was tasty, it all the hit the spot. The Hot dog bun was toasted, and the kraut was grilled also. But it all set me back 31 dollars and change -- that's a lot for a couple of cheeseburgers, a Hot dog, a side of onion rings (which was a pretty skimpy order, btw), a small cup of chowder, and a small fountain drink (which we shared). But we'll return though in the future, when we want this type of food again. It's close by for us. read more

This place is weird. Zero passion for making burgers. Last summer I showed up at 6:43 w/ my son. Instead of saying something like "we're happy to make you something, but fyi we close in 15 minutes". (7p Seems very early to me, especially in the summer months) Instead, as we approached the counter to order we were greeted with "hurry up, we are closing!" Having never been there, I wasn't familiar with their menu, this added to the feeling that, I the customer was inconveniencing the restaurant by trying to order food. Needless to say the burgers were over cooked, small and thick and somewhat expensive for what we got. There is not much as far as "Ambiance" goes. I often see Beau's Burger Shack recommended on one of my Facebook groups and finally had the chance to try it out. The Facebook masses did not steer me wrong! The grilled cheese was delicious with the perfect amount of cheese and the fries were perfectly crispy and salty. I also got soft serve ice cream which was just as tasty. Staff was also very friendly and one of the employees came out with a fresh trash bag when they saw us struggling with the full barrel outside. I will definitely be coming back for more! read more

The other day I picked up some soup from Beau's and was not disappointed. It was grab and go, too, which I love! I got the Lemon chicken orzo soup. It was incredible! Light but filling. I'm definitely going to get it again. I know you might not think of soup as something to get at a burger joint, but I highly recommend you try it. read more

What do you want from a local burger shack? For me, it's the basics: Good food, quick service, and good prices. While the prices are a little high, we picked up a solid lunch for the whole family that everyone really enjoyed. The fish n chips were popular. So was the lobster roll. I picked up whole belly clams too; while I like a little more of the belly on it, there was plenty of meat and it was definitely tasty. Fries are standard. The shakes were delish too. Food is amazing are the two picnic areas (one facing traffic in the front of the restaurant, the other is in the back in the grass.. much quieter and puppy friendly). The only problems are the portions correlating to the price. Hardly anything comes with sides unless "and chips" are in the items name (fish & chips). The lobster roll is good, only 1 (inedible to me) end of the claw pieces this time.. last time there were 2. Doesn't come with fries or come slaw. The fish taco didn't have a lot of fish in it. The fried fish is very fresh and delicious. Everything we have ordered has been wonderful & fresh (seafood), which is why we keep coming. But we average spending $60 for lunch because my husband has to buy 2 meals to feel full. read more

We've been coming to this place for years, back when it was Reno's... the quality and service are still consistently high for a classic "burger shake". Their Cheesesteak subs are as good as anything this side of Philadelphia. Burgers and 'dogs are high quality, and the lobster rolls and seafood are at least serviceable. Waffle Fries (with the chili / cheese option!) are good, as is the ice cream. This isn't an upscale FIVE STAR at the Ritz kind of place, but Beau's is exactly what it should be... a bit of a throw-back to simpler times. They have taken Covid seriously, and will deliver curb-side if asked, but with the plexiglass, masks, and social distancing this is a place I've been reasonably comfortable going in to. read more

Seafood feast for 2.5 people tonight from Beau's Burger Shack in Canton! You guys, this. Was. INCREDIBLE!!! First of all, it is adorable. I had never been before but it's right near the Canton Shoppes on 44. This place is like a beachy seafood/burger shop that was plucked from the shore and placed in the center of Canton. It gave me a little reminder of what it's like to be on vacation. That was nice. When I walked in to pick up my order, I immediately noticed how clean it was, and that everyone was masked and super friendly. They had my order ready to go and the owner came out to say hello. Couldn't have been a nicer experience! We got the whole belly clam platter, shrimp po boy, and crab roll for food. Everything was phenomenal: crispy, lightly breaded... You know how sometimes when you get fried food, it just sits at the bottom of your stomach like a rock? Not so at Beau's. I also splurged some calories and got a milkshake with peanut butter, and let me tell you, it was FREAKING WORTH IT! My toddler agreed, as he wouldn't really let me have much of it... We always loved Reeno's and especially their cheeseburgers and fries. Alas, we visited today, the new "Beau's Burger Shack" and were shocked to discover how horrible it is! I mean REALLY! I ordered a double cheeseburger with bacon, lettuce, tomato, fried onions and mayo. Hubby ordered sausage on a roll and the soup. We both had fountain sodas. The check $31.40! When I looked at the receipt, I was stunned to see that they charged $12.35 FOR THAT DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER! Yes, that's correct, because I asked the counter person, "yes," "they charge $4.00 for the additional burger." OMG!!!!! As if that wasn't bad enough, the burgers were tough, over cooked piece of shoe leather NO JUICE and NO TASTE! There were three pieces of a tiny tomato and a scant amount of fried onion. I had to ask for mayo! The fries were dry and NOT like the fries we used to get at Reeno's! The sausage patty looked like it had a lot of filler, no juice and no taste! WHAT A SHAME! NEVER AGAIN! I really prefer a mom and pop restaurant. Beau's has really stepped up while maintaining the historic feel and the traditional lunch fare of the former Reno's. All of their soups and the chili are really good, the new seafood options and specials are a nice upgrade . I get the clam chowder habitually. This is simple traditional comfort food, working guys and retirees seem to be the daily regulars (a good sign). Families with kids are drawn to the burger and hot dog choices. The staff are only 3 or 4 people, dedicated, hard-working, and very friendly.It may be cheaper to go to a fast food chain, but the quality and choices are not the same. A small place, that was very good for fast food in its prior life as Reno's. Service at Beaus was quick and friendly. The burgers were great, the lobster roll as good as you can get in ct. buffalo chicken tenders were homemade, fresh and on the money. Soups are homemade and really good (we tried both chicken noodle and corn chowder). My son called the s'mores milkshake very good. This is no longer a fast food. Wanted a quick burger for lunch so I came here. I got a cheeseburger and waffle fries to go. The place is clean and looks the same as when it was Reno's. The service was quick and very friendly. The waffle fries were definitely cooked to order as the inside was very hot. They were good if you like them crispy which I do. The burger was ok. Nothing wrong with it but nothing stood out. Maybe I should have gotten some toppings but that really makes it expensive for what is essentially fast food. My meal to go with the fries and burger (no drink) was just over $10. If I added things like caramelized onions, pickles and bacon that would quickly jump to closer to $15. I was surprised to see pickles cost .85¢ extra. Anyway throw in a drink and eat it there and it could be even more pricey. At that price point I'd probably get BurgerFi or Five Guys or just go to Plan B. So as others have noted, it's expensive for what you get. But it tastes pretty good. If it's just me and I'm in the mood I'd probably go again. But if I have to pay for two or more I'd probably pick something else. read more

I was driving down the Albany Turnpike with my windows down and smelled the great smell of burgers cooking as I drove by, so I decided to stop in. I got the bleu cheese burger and French fries. While the service was good and the food came out in a timely manner, I wasn't all that pleased with my meal. The burger was overcooked and dry (I guess I should have said medium rare but I feel like well done should not be the default!) and the French fries were not crispy at all. Although, I could tell if they did not cook the burger as much, it would have been good. The bleu cheese was a great addition and I think they use a ciabatta bun which is a nice touch. Overall, make sure to be specific with how you want your burger cooked unless you want a mouth-drying patty. read more

Easy 5 stars. Everything was exceptional. One thing I had was the corn chowder. The potato's that we're in that made it unique. The burger I had was the BBQ cheddar cheese bacon burger. To say the least it was a really good burger. I also happened to try the Mac and cheese and all I could say was wow. It was very cheesey with a high quality macaroni. Best Burgers Anywhere I've been, and I've traveled on business to 38 of our US States, usually on multiple repeat trips to clients. Call me old school if you want to, but I always try to sample the best burger place and best pizza place! Always. Why? Because I grew up and went to college in the New Haven CT area and feasted on Sally's Pizza and Pepe's Pizza of legendary Wooster Street and Modern Apizza on State Street, AND I grew up through grade school and playing baseball with Jeff Lassen, owner of the birthplace of the modern day hamburger - Louis Lunch on Crown Street. I love Louis, but I love Beau's Burger Shack even more! And, the family-ownership makes a big difference versus any "chain" out there. (You know who I mean). Beau's is the Best Burger anywhere! And they have great dogs and fries, too. I recently moved back to the area - and one of my first stops was Beau's and I go there at least twice a week, if not more. For the quality and choices, the prices are very reasonable, in my opinion. Most definitely, if you're a burger fanatic, or just a casual burger person who is tired of the big chains, or you're flyfishing while you stay at Legends B&B in New Hartford, or shopping at the malls in the area, or just leaf-peeping in the Fall, ya gotta go to Beau's!
