    Burger Cross-section

Basic food done well, with very good NE clam chowder Back in Avon, and wasn't a major fan of the last place we went to. So back on the hunt for some basic food and found this little burger shack between a pretty good cupcake spot and a fruit bowl place. Signage is not so great. It's easier to find the gas station next to it than the actual shack itself. Parking and seating are limited, so this is very much a buy and run place. We got their burger and dog to give them a fair try, along with their pepperoni bites and their clam chowder which they sold as a take home item. You usually only sell stuff as a take home if it's really good, so we decided to try that too. The pepperoni bites were fresh made. kind of a mozzarella bite with pepperoni chunks mixed in. It's what you hope a pizza roll should be, but is mostly molten sauce instead. The burger and dog were good for what they were. basic burger, basic dog. the toppings were kind of a miss. the chili was hormel and the white american cheese got welded to the inside of the bun. They do a hot onion relish, probably would've been best with just that as a topping. The burger was seasoned well and good proportions vs the bun. toppings were weak here as well, but it was an okay burger. The clam chowder was really good. briney, thick, creamy, but not oily or too heavy. some veggies and some clams but neither overwhelmed. It was a very solid showing for clam chowder. Price was reasonable for the area. once again, nothing special on the burger and dog front, but some interesting options from the other items. Overall, not a bad spot for a quick meal. Not going to win awards, but good for what it is

Beau's is a very cute building, and luckily you are able to drive in from the back if you turn in at the light by the old McDonald's. They have indoor and (as of November) outdoor seating. They have the "traditional" hot dogs, hamburgers, and soups of the day. The burger was okay, and it was pretty large. The star of the show was the chocolate milkshake though - it was like drinking melted chocolate, delicious!

Cheeseburger & Hot Dog, at Beau's Burger Shack in Canton, CT.

My wife had a hankering for a burger today, so we decided to head over to Reno's Drive-In in Canton....but low and behold, Reno's is under new ownership, and now goes by the name of Beau's Burger Shack. Food seemed pretty much the same as before -- good quality, but extremely pricey ! My wife ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings, I had a cheeseburger also, and a Hot dog w/ spicy mustard & kraut. She also ordered a small cup of the Clam Chowder (which was very good). Like I said above, everything was tasty, it all the hit the spot. The Hot dog bun was toasted, and the kraut was grilled also. But it all set me back 31 dollars and change -- that's a lot for a couple of cheeseburgers, a Hot dog, a side of onion rings (which was a pretty skimpy order, btw), a small cup of chowder, and a small fountain drink (which we shared). But we'll return though in the future, when we want this type of food again. It's close by for us.

When you're thinking "Hey, I need a great cheeseburger, fries and maybe a shake" this is the place for you. Great burgers, cheese steaks, onion rings, and shakes. Can't go wrong.

    Well done burger.

I asked if the could cook my mushroom Swiss burger rare. I was told that they could. Not so. First and last time.

Chili cheese dog is still wonderful even though it was better before COVID took away the hot pepper relish condiment open bar.

Nice people here, however, dirty establishment that seemed run down. The food was overpriced and did not meet our expectations.

Really tiny place, but the best burgers we have had a long while!! Buns are great and meat to bread ratio is just right. Fries are good too.

Our choices were the grilled chicken sandwich ($9.99), bacon cheeseburger ($9.99) and crispy chicken burger ($9.99) plus drinks. We passed on their dirty fries, almost all of which seem to come drenched in some sort of sauce (barbecue, poutine, taco, you-get-the-ides, etc.), but a friend dining across from us said they were "wow." We liked our sandwiches, freshly made, simply sized and available with all sorts of additions like garlic aioli, cilantro, onions, etc.). The staff was friendly, the service a bit on the slow side though they weren't;t especially crowded. All in all, a good experience, we'll return when we're in the neighborhood.

My food was served out of a cardboard bucket. I was not expecting gourmet, but the poutine tasted great. It was basic and perfect. Crispy fries, excellent gravy, great ratio of cheese curds. The only thing I can say is more gravy would have been nice, but I understand the delicate balance, and maybe too much gravy would make the french fries soggy. I'm not a chef. The poutine was excellent. The atmosphere however leaves a lot to be desired. It's not exactly food you can get for takeout being french fries that would get mushy by the time you get home. The soda they sell are in boxes stacked up around the seating areas. The table I sat at was hopelessly uneven, like a recycled sawhorse from a construction site. But it is clean, and the staff was friendly and delivers your food to the table. The cheeseburger and milkshakes are also great according to my lunch date. I would definitely come back next time I was at the Shoppes.

I was so shocked when I found a Peri Peri place opened up in Avon of all places, but I'm thrilled…read morethey're here!! The food was absolutely amazing. I love peri peri chicken and got the rice plate. Everything tasted delicious and the staff/service were super nice and speedy. I would definitely come back here again. "But I got my head in the clouds like Zeus Swear I can see…read morethe game from a bird's-eye view" (Eminem) What on earth does peri peri mean? Well peri peri is a fiery little African Bird's-eye chili whose name literally means "hot pepper" in Bantu. Tribos Peri Peri in Avon is the regional chain's eighth location (and the only one in CT), with the other seven in MA, MD, and NJ. Their cuisine pays homage to that incendiary African Bird's-eye chili pepper in their Portugese, African, and Southeast Asian flavored chicken dishes. You can have your pick of wings, tenders, platters, and even a whole chicken with or without sides. Some of the sides and appetizers have a Mediterranean flair such as hummus, pita breads, couscous, falafel, etc. The non-chicken lovers can get other dishes with lamb, paneer cheese, falafel, etc. Now, when you order chicken you have to decide on your tolerance for a heat level. I ordered three freshly grilled tenders and needed to select one of their six spice levels for the sauce the tenders get bathed in. Level One is plain, Level Two is Lemon & Herb, Level Three is Mild, Level Four is Medium, Five is Hot, and Six dares you to be Very Hot. I went with Level Four Medium, and I gotta tell ya, my chicken tenders were very spicy. Oh... and the chicken itself? FANTASTIC - freshly grilled, large, moist and perfect. Soon after the tenders were delivered to my table, two more things appeared- a squeeze bottle of white and red sauce. The smiling server said if my chicken was too spicy I could cool it down with the white garlic sauce. But if they weren't spicy enough, I could increase the firepower with some peri peri sauce. Of course I had to try the peri peri sauce and lets just say I was very grateful I just tried an eye dropper's worth of it. Along with the chicken, I ordered an amazing side of grilled corn on the cob. So the food was great, but how about the service? My experience was fantastic. The gent who took my order was friendly, conversational, and helpful. And when he brought out those two sauces, he was playfully smiling when he talked about the heat level of that Peri Peri sauce. What a nice addition to the Farmington Valley.

After reading the great reviews about this place my wife and I had to try it for our "Hot Dog…read moreTuesday" lunch. I don't give out 5 stars easily. This little unassuming place deserves every one of them! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly man at the counter who seated us and brought menus. He turned out to be very helpful finding out this was our first time here. The store was well lit and clean. The tables were well spaced and not crowded in. My wife stuck to our tradition and ordered the RT 10 Dog with the spicy relish on the side. (Which was great for me) I couldn't resist The Hungry Bull burger. We'll just have to come back again for me to try their hotdogs. The 10' hot dog is a Martin Rosol's so the foundation of this hot dog is super strong. The sauerkraut was tasty and full flavored and just the right amount of mustard. My wife tried the spicy relish, that our server cheerfully supplied on the side, and it was a little too hot for her liking. Bonus for me. I got to put it on my burger. My burger came out stacked on a sturdy Brioche Roll with American cheese, onion straws and some very tasty horseradish crema. My burger was juicy and full of flavor. The onion straws brought the right amount of crunch. Halfway through I began to add in the spicy relish. Amazing. We got fries and onion rings and shared. The fries were big, crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. Just the way I like them. The onion rings were amazing. I like when you bite into an onion ring and the whole onion doesn't come sliding out. These were perfect. Very good crunch and flavor. We have already decided that we will be back. I can't wait to try the hot dogs and the chicken sandwiches that were also calling my name.

I had a meatball sub, and my goodness, it was the best I've had in years; a perfect balance of sauce so that the meatballs didn't get overwhelmed. My husband had a chili dog and was gobsmacked at how they managed to elevate a seemingly straightforward dish. They used toasted bread, and the chili was the perfect amount. My son got one of their burgers and absolutely devoured it. Finally, their fries and onion rings are some of the best I've had in a while. I'm bummed that we are only in CT to visit family once a year, because this would definitely be added to our regular treat rotation.
