(Last visited December 30, 2023.) Close to home is Prime Burgers and we heard some good things about this place! So here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: This place brings upscale vibes with lots of space that's warm and inviting. There's lots of light, decently quiet and with their own private parking lot! Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but she was awesome. She made sure we had everything that we needed and that we were well taken care of. Enzo the owner and chef actually came out to talk to us too! That's always a pleasure. Food: When seated you're brought some homemade bread with their Enzo sauce. The sauce contains sundried tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese, red peppers and black pepper. When spooned onto the garlic bread it marries very well. There's a bit of a citrus flavor right up front, no spice at all, hearty and a very unique sauce to go with the warm, fluffy bread. For my first drink I had the Brown Sugar Old Fashion which consists of bourbon, brown sugar, house bitters with an orange garnish. It was a little sweet, but pretty good nonetheless. Next up were the smoked Buffalo wings. Beautiful looking wings that tasted incredible. The smoked flavor was so perfect that went with the various sauces that we tried. Next up was the Jalapeno Peach Margarita that consists of jalapeno-infused tequila, lime juice and peach puree. Delicious, spicy, yet tolerable with a fruity undertone. The first burger I got to try was The California Burger which is a "Prime" burger patty topped with crispy bacon, avocado, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and a garlic aioli sauce served with sweet potato fries on the side. You can get your burger cooked "pink" or "no pink". It was super juicy and flavorful. I LOVED it. The next burger I got to try was The Enzo Burger. This one consists of the same "Prime" burger topped with smoked mozzarella, pickles, spicy fried onions, lettuce, tomato and a chipotle ranch aioli sauce. Fantastic burger, period. Even better than the California joint. Burgers are easy to make be delicious when you start off with excellent beef. Value: Pretty solid. Wings are about $2.00 per wing if you get them outside of happy hour. They're $1.50 a wing if you can make there within the happy hour window. Each burger was about $17.00, which is extremely reasonable. In conclusion, I think this place deserves more recognition and fanfare! It's awesome, affordable, with friendly staff and amazing dishes! Please come check this place out if you're in the area!

Went to Prime Burgers for dinner with the lady on a night out, based on Yelp reviews. The service was fantastic. We sat at the bar, and our bartenders were helpful and attentive; and the drinks we had were delicious. The interior is actually really nice too, we almost felt underdressed when walking in. Where things break down is the food. It's just not up to the standards of having 'prime' in the name, in my opinion. The burger was ok, but certainly not cooked to order. The dinner bread was hard, the French onion soup is not traditional and lacks intensity, and my lady ate a slice and a half of her flatbread before calling it quits. I don't want to sit here and bash, just being honest. At 6pm on a Thursday night, it should have been packed. We were one of 3-4 groups in the place from what it looked like. With a perfect location, great service staff, and a fantastic interior, this place is setup for success. The food unfortunately, just isn't up to par. We'll try it again some time and give it another shot.

On the recommendation of a friend, we tried Prime for the first time and came out raving. We both had NY Strip stakes, which were charcoal-broiled just the way we ordered them. Their presentation on my shrimp cocktail was incredible, laid out over ice with cocktail sauce and extra horseradish. It was my birthday, which we casually mentioned and the staff reacted with a very special dessert. The restaurant isn't ultra fancy but goes beyond casual.

Best ribeye steak!! Better than RuthChris!!

My husband and I started coming here about a year ago. This restaurant is absolutely amazing. Not only do they have the best burgers. They have such an eclectic menu of different items and it's all delicious. Absolutely delicious!

I was told to check out Prime burgers and I'm glad I did. It's a white tablecloth experience for burgers! Outside looked like a regular burger joint, but Inside has a nice romantic ambiance with a wine wall, and lamps on each tabletop. We were served with bread to start with a delicious oil dip. Luckily we got there during happy hour and tried the garlic parm wings at just 1$ each! They could have been cooked longer because in my opinion I like my wings crispy but they were flavorful and came with blue cheese and a ranch sauce that tasted homemade. For our burger choices we decided on the California burger and the Butcher burger. The California burger had bacon, avocado, cheese, tomato, lettuce and a garlic aioli. The butcher burger had sharp cheddar cheese onion ring and bbq sauce. Both burgers were huge and tasty. We tried the hand cut fries which were amazing and the battered onion rings as another side. Good job prime burgers!

After driving by a few times, I finally visited for lunch. I caught them at a time when they were not busy. So whatever the case would normally be, service was very attentive. The inside was nicer than I expected. Nice enough to be a bistro or local steakhouse. Lots of dark wood and wine bottles. I ordered Enzo's burger, medium rare. Enzo's Burger comes with smoked mozzarella, fried onions, pickles, lettuce and Chipotle Ranch Aioli Sauce. The burger was large, cooked perfectly and seasoned differently than I'm used to. Not sure what cuts of meat they used for the burger, but it seemed like a unique blend. The Aioli Sauce did not agree with me. It was acidic in a way I wasn't expecting. The bread seemed like a Kaiser Roll, which was decent. I probably would use the "make your own burger" option next time. The Garlic Parm Fries were medium cut and pretty good. Four Stars

4 of us checked them out on Sunday. A friend said the food was very good. What we ordered was not very good but we ordered light and did not order any dinner entrees. We ordered. Fried Calimari which were way overdone and like rubber. They served them anyway. Lobster bisque. Decent flavor but there was literally one small piece of lobster in it. A cheeseburger with let, Tom, onion and bacon. The burger was too lean and over packed. It was very hard and not appetizing at all. The " bacon" was so thick it was like a slice of fried brisket. Hard and unable to bite through. The fries were good. The Reuben panini was the hit of the table I was told it was very good. I don't think we will be back as there are too many other places to try and we were not impressed.

Our first visit to Prime Burgers and it won't be the last visit. The service was on point. We were never left to wonder where our server was. Adrianna was very attentive. We were pleased with her A-1 service. This was a pizzeria previous to Prime Burgers. This was a nicely remodeled space. The ambiance had an upbeat and classy feel to it. I feel it would be great for a very romantic dinner. They had a nice mix of music playing in the background. For appetizers we ordered the Smoked wings and the Special Appetizer being offered: Bacon Wrapped Shrimp Crostini. The wings were great and reminded me of a Kitchen Sink wing where they were very seasoned and tasted really good, not a dry wing. The Shrimp Crostini came with a nice spoonful of Gorgonzola cheese on the bottom of the plate. Gorgonzola is rich in itself but it complimented the Shrimp Crostini perfectly. The King Salmon was huge and well worth the price. It was bedded on a nicely sized portion of Risotto and a thin layer of spinach. It was seared perfectly. I enjoyed it with a glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. My fiancé enjoyed the NY Strip with mashed potatoes and Brussels. The steak definitely had a nice sweet flavor that he paired with a nice Cabernet Sauvignon. You definitely want to make sure you're prepared for the bill. It is well worth the cost. We will definitely be back one day soon. Highly recommended!

Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.

My sister made a 6:30 reservation in advance, fully aware it would be busy, and it was. When we arrived, the wait for walk ins was already an hour. At check in, my sister went to the host stand because her phone was having trouble checking us in. The manager on duty at the time, Will, confirmed that he checked us in manually and assured us everything was set. About ten minutes later, my sister approached the host, Liv, because she continued receiving texts about checking in and seating. She simply wanted to make sure there wasn't an issue. Liv told her we were checked in, everything was fine, and to ignore the messages. Important detail: we were a party of five plus a baby. Fast forward nearly an hour later. My niece was understandably losing patience, so I went to the host stand to ask about our table. That's when LIV told me they had texted us, we "weren't ready," and they gave our table away. Let me be clear: they were calling parties by name the entire time. Our name was never called once. And LIV was the SAME PERSON who EXPLICITLY told us to IGNORE the messages. At this point, we were obviously upset. Will and others acted confused and tried to piece together what happened, as if what we were explaining didn't make sense. Eventually, we were told that a large party was about to leave and that table would be ours. Even then, we still waited another ten minutes. Shockingly, NO ONE apologized. The only explanation offered was "miscommunication." Once seated, our server was great, genuinely the only bright spot so far. Unfortunately, when the food arrived, everything was cold. At that point, it was almost expected. Another manager later came to our table, clearly in a higher position than Will. He listened to our side, apologized, offered to remake the food, and gave us a discount. When we paid, our server informed us that an additional discount had been applied. It wasn't until I was literally walking out the door, as the last one to leave, that Will finally said, "Sorry about everything. Have a good night." At that point, it felt far too late. If they're working, count me out.

Couldn't have had a better waiter for my mom's birthday dinner! Denis was on his toes the entire…read moredinner, from start to finish we were well attended to and the food was the cherry on top. Everything was cooked to perfection. The calamari was an absolute hit, along with the shrimp special. I've heard great things about this place and I'm finally glad I got to go. The dining is well decorated and secluded at the booths, giving an intimate atmosphere.

Excellent evening a few weeks back on a rainy Saturday night. Beautiful restaurant. Great…read moreservice. Had been to the Fort Lauderdale location a few years ago. First time at their Newington location. We were seated a booth - very nice - extra roomy. It's nice that you aren't on top of other people in this restaurant. Nowadays they just pack people in which takes away from the dining experience. Started by splitting a Caesar salad. Forgot to take a picture - probably because it was so good and we were lost in conversation. My boyfriend got the filet with twin lobster tails special. He enjoyed the filet and I had the lobster tails. The lobster tails were huge! The waitress mentioned they normally put some sort of a spice on them but I asked for it to be left off as lobster is delicious on its own (I just asked for butter on the side). Unfortunately, they put salt on the lobster tails which kind of ruined the flavor, however the lobster was nice and fresh, so I just dunked them in butter to mask the salty taste. Lobster is so flavorful and delicious by itself - it doesn't need anything other than lemon and maybe some butter. Chefs are always trying to do different things with lobster and they don't need to. Perhaps they put too much salt in the water they cooked it with. We also split the Au Gratin Potatoes. I must not have read that it had three cheeses in it. WOW was that a lot of cheese. A bit much. Very tasty but too much cheese. It was also quite small. We got the flourless chocolate cake for dessert and I have to say I normally love these, but this had an espresso flavor to it. Like lobster, chocolate is good as it is - no need to add different flavors to it. I hate tiramisu/espresso flavored desserts typically, so that flavor ruined this for me. I wish they mentioned it had an espresso flavor in it. I will ask in the future when ordering at restaurants. Service impeccable. Just a few things that kept this from a 5 star review. We did bring in our own bottle of wine so they will allow that, you just have to pay the $25 corkage fee. Nice evening. Will be back.
