    Waffle fries 5.99

Small place with alot going on inside, nice decor and lively staff that were quick to take my order. Good took about 8 minutes after I placed my order and they called my number. Ordered the Monday burger and a side of waffle fries which brought my total to about 18 bucks. Fries were very nicely cooked, just a small portion for a side order. The Mondo burger was extremely juicy and the burger patty was actually seasoned well with crispy bacon, onion, little bit of lettuce and mayo. Very good burger! All in all a nice quick bite shop, nothing fancy not fast food! Check it out

"He came from nothing he tried 'em all Ya' gotta live low before you see them fall They said he was broke and never coming back But Frankie's gonna be alright" (Dropkick Murphys) The origin story of Frankie's is fantastic. During the Great Depression, two brothers pooled family money, bought an empty lot in Waterbury, convinced a lumber yard to give them lumber on credit, built a restaurant, then persuaded a meat purveyor and local bakery to create extra-long hot dogs and rolls. Business boomed and they opened a second location in 1941. Today, they have six locations across Connecticut. We visited their Plainville location yesterday and had a very enjoyable lunch. Our first order of business was deciding what we'd order, because their menu is quite deep. The menu is broken down into groupings, things like Specialties (chicken, chili, etc.), Hot Dogs, Sandwiches (Burgers, BLT, Grilled Cheese), Seafood (fried fish, shrimp, clams, scallops, grilled fish and a lobster roll), Salads, Sides (fries, rings, fried veggies, and more), and six kids meals. Fried food dominates, and I laughed when I saw a sign at the front of the store that proclaimed in no uncertain terms "It Ain't Food If It Ain't Fried". My wife ordered a regular hot dog, I ordered a scallop roll, and we split an order of Waffle Fries. We were pleasantly surprised that our cashier voluntarily gave us a 10% Senior Citizen discount, (a perk of my graying hair I suppose). A fountain drink and tax brought our discounted cost to a super reasonable $26.17. Frankies has a condiment bar where you can add as much sauerkraut, ketchup, chopped onions, and three kinds of relish as your little heart desires. I loved the scallop roll- a big mound of breaded and fried bay scallops piled on a toasted and buttered hot dog roll. I asked for cocktail sauce with it and a small, prepackaged container was on my tray when our number was called. The scallop roll was excellent. So were the waffle fries, a pretty big portion of golden-brown crunchy fries -easily enough to share. I doctored mine up with some of the condiment bar ketchup and onions and loved it. I didn't mooch any of the hot dog, but my wife gave it a glowing report. What a cool place. If you love old school comfort food served without a hint of pretension, Frankies is for you.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch in-between errands. It was not busy and we were able to order as soon as we walked in. We ordered two regular (Original) dogs and one chili. We also ordered two orders of their steak fries. The hot dogs are long and thin. They stick out from the buns. I guess that is supposed to be their signature look. They did taste good. I added yellow mustard and onions to my plain dog and onions to my chili dog. The chili on the dog, while not bad tasting, was reminiscent of something out of a can. The steak fries were good. I had mine with some ketchup on them. My wife had her fries plain also. Once we got home we both ended up drinking a lot of water. Apparently, the dogs had a lot of salt in them. We didn't detect it while we were eating them, it was well hidden. Bottom line - there are better hot dogs out there.

Working in the area and needed somewhere nearby to grab lunch and this restaurant came up on my Google search. The menu was interesting and had options that seems delicious and affordable. Not much parking is available in the designated parking lot but there is street parking. Inside is wonderfully decorated with pictures and quotes on the wall and a very quiet and cozy atmosphere. Thought it would be busier for lunch but there were no lines and the cashier was ready to take our order. My coworkers and I ordered the fried shrimp plate, the fried clams, Cesar salad, and some fish and chips. To our surprise for such a small restaurant the food was extremely good. Even though my fried shrimp was a little over-fried and crispy, my roll was a little over toasted it was still good. The fries were extra hot like they just came out of the oil. If you are ever in the area and need somewhere affordable with less traffic this is the place for you.

Frankie's is one of those places that you go to for a dog and fried foods at decent prices. You don't go here for fancy or unique bites. You get basic food made well for not so much. If given the option of a fast food chain or Frankie's, I would do Frankie's. It's not special food, but good food done cheap. Just like this review. It's short n sweet.

Ok I tried frankies again Absolutely disgusting. Sweaty hands on the food. No masks on staff. Dirty counters. Filth everywhere. Place should be shut down

I've always come to Frankies when I'm craving a chilli dog ! however when I ordered the onion rings they were very soggy and not crispy. I was very displeased given food costs so much now a days ! I will not be ordering these again.

The small restaurant was like a deli with several tables inside and a lovely outdoor patio that really elevated its overall atmosphere. We placed our order at the inside counter and grabbed a table outside. Throughout our visit, we experienced extremely pleasant and gracious service from Fina and a young man, both of whom were cooking and delivering the food. Though this caused things to move on the slower side, they really had their system down to a science, managing our meals and the several takeout orders that I saw being collected. The lunch menu had various salads, sandwiches, and burgers on offer. I selected the Chicken Gyro, which used a real grilled chicken breast that had been sliced, rather than those pre-cut strips that always seem to contain fillers. The chicken was a tad dry, but the homemade tzatziki sauce, which was heavily infused with dill, helped to add moisture to the sandwich. I had opted for a whole wheat wrap, rather than a pita, and I loved that they had lightly toasted the completed dish, even with its inclusion of romaine lettuce and diced tomatoes. That method gave the wrap an improved texture and a slight crunch. I sampled a few of my companion's fries, which were thin, crispy, and had a real rustic flavor that resembled potato skins. They were great! Fina's Kitchen was a real gem, hidden among an industrial area and catering to the local businesses. It was a great find!

Outside was slightly dirty, but the view of the course was pretty. Opted for a smattering of dogs (kielbasa, spicy dog, and plain dog), a bacon jam blue cheese burger, and a brownie for dessert. Food came out after a wait, but we got ketchup and took turns taking bites. The burger was the best bite. good quality beef, strong blue cheese and sweet n salty bacon jam was quite nice. The blue cheese was a bit strong, but I like punchy flavors. The fries were not bad, pretty good bagged fries. The dogs, well they were alright. Not great buns, dogs were of a decent quality, but the kielbasa was too sweet and the spicy dog was only lightly hot. As a lunch place, it does well enough. The burger and fries were worth the price of admission. The dogs were kind of weak, and there dogs need to be of a better quality. But they are still not bad, just not great.

I ordered the hotdog 10 inch, with mustard, onion, and sauce, in order of onion rings and a Pepsi. After a little bit of a wait because of the lunch rush, my order arrived, and I dug in! The hotdog so flavorful with a snap upon my first bite, and was brilliantly cooked on the flat top, stuffed inside a perfectly grilled New England style hotdog roll. The char on the outside of the roll was a masterpiece. The meat sauce was perfect, with a kind of gravy texture, just the right amount of flavor, one of the best hotdog sauces in my opinion for Connecticut. The white onions accompanied this masterpiece placed upon the hotdog and the yellow mustard. This has to be one of the most perfect hotdogs with toppings in Connecticut. I love coming here for their hotdog. This 10 inch was priced at I think $4.59 with the mustard onion and sauce. I think that's a pretty good deal. The onion rings were restaurant supply chain delivered type I think. They didn't look like they were homemade. They were crispy, but not seasoned. After a little bit of salt, I still didn't like the flavor that much so I added ketchup, which I never do. And the flavor came through. All washed down with a perfect Pepsi, I really enjoyed my lunch. Three different waitresses took care of me, which I didn't mind. They were all polite and attentive. The burgers are straight up ground beef, the fries are bagged and the shakes use an off the shelf soft serve mix. It's not glamorous eating, but it's functional. I'm not opposed to this style of location, so long as they are priced appropriately and they recognize their limitations. Be nice, be quick, and make it just a little better than the rest and you can thrive. Server was very nice, location does look like much from the front but the inside has a nice appearance. The food is lackluster, exactly as presented on the menu. They do grill their buns in butter, and the flavors of their soups and fries are present and front facing. Burger was overcooked and unseasoned, hot dog was grilled well though. Easy fixes though, season the patty and 1 minute quicker off the grill and everything would be much better. it's actually pretty cheap as well.$5 for a foot long hotdog and $9 for a mushroom Swiss burger is pretty reasonable. They are not a fast food joint, but they are relatively quick and the quality is better than a chain as well. This is a spot that I would imagine a family would go to for that quick bite. It's basic but better than what you would get from any of the chains around. Price is good for the quality, and it's very much a burger shack. Go in expecting that, and you'll have a good experience. Not worth a trek though
