I first visited Dr. Ghiasi' s office on August 28, 2025, after being told that I needed cataract surgery on my left eye. Before leaving the office that day, I was scheduled for surgery in December 2025 and was given a list of requirements that had to be completed before the procedure. Over the next several months, I spent a significant amount of time preparing for this surgery. I had to schedule and attend multiple appointments at different medical offices, including visits to my family doctor for an EKG, blood work, and surgical clearance. Because I also have macular edema, I was required to receive my regular eye injection before surgery. All required records and test results were completed and sent to Dr. Ghiasi's office well before the scheduled surgery date. At my pre-surgery appointment, Dr. Ghiasi told me that a medication needed for the surgery was on backorder and might delay the procedure. This explanation did not make sense to me because my surgery had been scheduled for months, and it seemed like any medication shortages should have been known much earlier. In my opinion, this felt more like an excuse than a legitimate reason for concern. During that same visit, I was told that a standard lens would be used for my cataract surgery. However, I was later asked to pay $430 out of pocket, which I paid over the phone after being told the surgery would proceed. To this day, I do not understand why I was charged this amount if a standard lens was being used. My insurance said that additional out-of-pocket charges are typically associated with premium lens options, not standard lenses. After months of preparation, multiple appointments, medical testing, obtaining clearances, and paying the requested fee, I was shocked when the surgery was canceled only two days before the scheduled date. The office provided another explanation that I found difficult to believe after everything that had already happened. At the time of the cancellation, I was rescheduled for February 2026. However, the office later called again and left a message saying that appointment would also need to be postponed. By that point, I had completely lost confidence in the office and no longer felt comfortable trusting them with my care, so I did not return the call. From August 2025 until the final cancellation and postponement, I invested months of my time, energy, and effort preparing for this surgery. The repeated delays, last-minute cancellation, lack of clear communication, and unexplained $430 charge caused unnecessary stress and frustration. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Ghiasi or this office. read more

I have been Dr Ghiasi's patient for more than five years and I could not be happier. She is one of the few Doctors that care for the quality not quantity of how many patients she sees every day. She listens to every patient and she would take her time to address every concerns, there for you can't really complain the wait time because she would do the same for you. I own four business's and I know it is impossible to completely know the work ethic of the people that I hire until they work for few months, I never had bad experience with the people that worked for her but if someone had a less than satisfactory with the office staff as some reviews suggests, that has nothing to do with the quality of the care that Dr. Ghiasi provides. Lack of confidence and inability to make a decision for a surgery that might not be even complicated and specially if it is coveted by insurance. For the same surgery, if you pay her out of your pocket, such complication becomes irrelevant. I do not recommend this doctor at all. She is always confused and unprepared when seeing the patient. She is not very skilful in taking measurements, although, the office seems fancy. Not qualified. Poor communication is another attribute. She never explains well, and she is intimated by giving compliments to her staff. She is also intimated by very highly qualified patients, and when there are questions, she is very unprepared to answer. read more

The doctor herself seems to care for her patients. But her staff needs to be educated on customer service skills or they might be just following instructions. My father couldn't make it to his appointment because of health reasons. I explain it to the staff member, she says you should have told me when I spoke to you on Friday, and I know for sure I never spoke to her on Friday. As I explain to her what's happening and why my father can't make it to the appointment, she tells me "that's not our problem"! "Can I charge your card for $75 since you should have called because you made the appointment." Really? It's okay for you to say it's not your problem and ask me to charge my card for $75? How would I know ahead of time how his health will be on the day of the appointment? I am sure he doesn't want to lose his eye sight because he knows he needs surgery on both his eyes as the doctor has already explained to him. Overall, I find this all unethical. read more

Do not recommend this doctor at all. The doctor is just fine. However, her staff are the worst. They have attitude towards you. I must say they are liar. Every time I visit a doctor, I ask staff to check my insurance to see that my visit is covered. For this doctor, I did the same. At first, they mentioned to me my insurance will cover the come of the visit. After three to four months, they sent me a $350 bill. When I asked them why? They did not have the right answer for me. I don't see a quality of professional MD and human being in her. She did cataract eye surgery for my mom. Despite of the straightforward nature of procedure, the surgery was not successful and my mom did not restore her natural vision. I tried to reach the Doctor and solve the issue multiple times but she was either unavailable or treated us in a VERY nasty way. At that point, I decided to change her doctor and see our legal options to move forward. Her current Doctor diagnosed a growing capsule (i.e. the natural lens) in her eye which confirms that the cataract was not successfully removed. DO NOT RECOMMEND this place at all. One of the WORST experiences that I have ever had with ANY doctor possible. They are very unorganized. Each staff tell you something different and at the end they don't even know what should be done. They definitely do not communicate or have interest to help you with your needs. They have the biggest attitude..... I needed a contact lens fitting and it took for ever to get the prescription. They provided expired try ons and it made my eye get stye and they had me come back three comes without even doctor seeing me. The second time They had me wait 40 mins behind the door of the office because they forgot I had an appointment to just get the prescription. After they came they said oh we don't have it sorry you have to come back and on the third time that they scheduled me after a MONTH they tried to charge me AGAIN, then they took examination and the staff member didn't even know why I am there and when I explained I Just need the prescription she said ok then go outside we will just print it for you and dr doesn't need to see you and if we check your stye there is an extra charge so dr won't do it. Have that in mind that I PAID for full the first visit and got stye because of EXPIRED contact lens, came back 3 TIMES and the doctor still didn't see me. I wish I could give them zero stars. I would never go back. I do work in medical field myself and this is definitely not how you handle caring for a patient. I could add this that the doctor is nice but dealing with all this is very unnecessary since you are paying for the service and expect to get a good customer service. I could also say that it's sad that we shouldn't trust the good reviews here anymore either because their staff members leave 5 star to cover what they do to patients. read more

Please do not go to this doctor! Thinking that I had found a doctor that I can trust , I made an effort to go and see her big mistake I only needed to get prescription glasses and after she did all her exams this dishonest person told me that I had narrow angle glaucoma and that if I don't do surgery right away I'll end up in the hospital with inflamed eyes with bleeding so after pushing me to make an appointment with her that day and me refusing because I needed to speak with my husband regarding the surgery we decided to get a few other opinions and guess what all three specialist told us that there was no such thing as narrow angle glaucoma in my case and that I only needed proscription glasses. The point is that not only she was lying to me she just wanted to get my money and didn't care about my well being. (DO NOT GO TO THIS DR ) if you want to keep your eyes. read more

Good bye, glaucoma. In 2008 at Kaiser Dr. Ghiasi used Laser Treatment to clean up my right eye. After that it was better than ever before and I could read the tiny words on the windshield wiper of my car. I made a mistake of not following her when she left Kaiser for her current office in Irvine. So in 2015, after three failed attempts with trabeculectomy I tried to reach her again because of the threat of blindness from serious open angle glaucoma. After two years of trying I saw her again in April 2017. On May 10 2017 she did Gel Xen Stent on my left eye I and stopped using glaucoma drops on it. On September 13 she did Gel Xen Stent again on my right eye and I said good bye to the three glaucoma eye drops I had to use five times a day. The Dr. herself is kind, caring and wants the best for her patients (you don't see her anytime but the appointment process) her staff is nothing but rude and incompetent. They are not kind when you're entering the office and not helpful when it comes to the paperwork process or seeing you in to your appointment. My mother who had the appointment has had a rough time dealing with this doctor and her staff due to multiple cancelled appointments and being sent to partnering facilities with broken machines and staff that have no clue what is going on. Our first experience there, we came a little early (5 minutes early) to fill out paperwork and we were told by the two front desk girls "um who are you? can you just leave and like come back when we're open after lunch?" We said can we sit in here for 5 minutes until our appointment and the front desk girl redirected us outside the door for 5 minutes and kept saying "please leave until we say you can come back in.." After the appointment was over, the two front desk girls were vague in any needed information and gave harsh looks as to why we didn't already know what was going to happen (when it is their job to redirect us on what the next steps should be). Because of the disgusting service given from Dr. Ghiasis staff, we have chosen to stay far, faarrr away from this place as possible and do not recommend this place to anyone, unless rude, incompetent and selfish behavior is something you look forward to having at an appointment. Do not put you eyes in the hands of this Doctor. She should not have a license. Read further. I saw Dr. Ghiasi to get a prescription for new contact lenses after calling first to find out what the co pay would be. I was told $15.00, she gave me 5 different samples to try. I've worn contacts all my life, so I know what I need. Her office manger tried to charge me $250 cash to take the samples, I refused and never got my prescription. She also threatened me and was extremely unprofessional, pushy and rude to the point that I nearly called the police. I have run the office of two noted Surgeons, the Chief of General Surgery at Georgetown University hospital and the OB/GYN Associated at the University of Vermont hospital center. I know hospitals, doctors, and proper procedure. This office is highly dysfunctional from the moment you walk in and walks a tightrope in adhering to moral and medical ethics. I also mentioned the white bump or growth on my lower eyelid and she told me that using baby oil to remove my makeup caused that and not to worry about it. 2 years later after it grew larger and larger, I finally asked my dermatologist about it who suggested immediately having a biopsy by my new opthamologist, Dr. Kline, who is the finest. He immediately did so and the pathologist diagnosed it as Basal Cell Carcinoma, I have recently undergone 3 hours of Mohs surgery to remove it in tandem with the Plastic surgery who had to do a major eyelid reconstruction which is quite painful and disfigurative and requires a full year recovery. I was irritated in Dr. Ghiasi's office, and now after her blatant mis diagnosis of something so severe and threatening to my eyes, I have not choice but to publish this poor review of her.
